I've got a list of about 40 games, the bottom half I'm willing to pay $2.50-$5.00 per game and the top half I'm willing to pay $10.00 per. Hopefully at least 10 of those game will fulfill this criteria for purchase.
Also, do not buy something of sale for less than 50% or more than $20. The more people are willing to accept bad deals the more publishers are going to push them.

Daily deals with good discounts for a day
Flash Sales with extreme discounts for part of a day
Its easy to understand, it cycles a lot of games in front of you allowing for discovery and it makes the sale interactive the entire time
Now all we get is two weeks of static decent, nothing special, discounts. We didn't GAIN shit for losing flash sales and daily deals
The real problem is the frequency of sales.
At first there was only the summer sale, then summer and winter, then all 4 seasons, plus halloween and other smaller sales.
With the sales only once or twice a year, most people would miss them and wind up paying full price for the game. With a sale every ~90 days or less, people start viewing the full price as a rip off.
Plus once a game goes on sale for a certain discount, that sets the bar for the expected price in all future sales, and full-price sales will decline. Thus we started seeing publishers being much more gradual with their discounts over a period of years, as well as fewer cuts to the full-price over time.
Also when the sales were less frequent, there was more time for new games to be released between sales.
Now a sale comes around and there's very little new that wasn't in the last sale.
