but user, hell isn't that hard

the actual level isn't too bad, it's having to do the boss right after with no checkpoint

You actually expected smb levels to get hard. This shit is cave story comes out of the blue right after the "last" boss fight.

>actually dropping games because of difficulty

typically I drop them because I'm breezing through everything and getting bored

Fuck this, I still haven't beat Cave Story to this day because of this shit.

If I had kept the health potion it wouldnt've been so bad, I didn't know I would've had to go through the whole area and then fight the boss with no heals inbetween.

The problem is I always have almost no health after beating the first boss so I don't have enough to fight the second.

But using machine-gun to fly was fun. FUN. And this stage not hard at all.

>MFW PLAYING ON A LAPTOP WITH LIMITED KEYS PRESSED AT ONCE

>final boss in Persona 3
>MC gets Marin Karin'd and heals the boss for max

in hindsight, I guess I should have expected the boss to use a charm effect and prepare for it

But I didn't want to go through that shit again so I just watched the ending on Youtube.

Careful not to spill your big dick all over the floor, easy now.

Literally the perfect blend of difficulty, challenge and reward

>not playing P3P
yeah, that's all on you

youtube.com/watch?v=ppcnbjG6Qno

I almost gave up here, but i still finished it in the end.

Playing through Persona 3 now, thanks for the warning, I'll make sure to make lots of save states

P3P's final boss.
I felt it was dragging on for too long and just wanted it to end. Turns out I can't do that without leveling a bit so I dropped it.

I got normal ending with 3HP on easy and hard mode but never beat Ballos.

Let me guess: You guys followed a walkthrough and arrived at Sacred Grounds on your very first playthrough, and you're playing one of the Nicalis ports which speed the game up.

It's not that bad if you don't worry about the timer. Just take it slow and farm for health pickups.

no and no

fuck u

Last boss of pic related because after beating SA-X (which is no small feat) there's no checkpoint.

Too late, deleted the game and save already.

Now I feel bad for mocking a cripple.

I dropped La Mulana cause I don't know where to go or what to do and I refuse to use a guide. I'll give it another try on summer

>tfw booting up cave story every so often and running it through just to prove that i still got it
Feels good man.

>you're playing one of the Nicalis ports which speed the game up
That shit makes me mad, on top of that playing the game in Japanese breaks achievements and the font is godawful.
But I want bragging rights.

no bully

>tfw I just used armagedon on the boss

Heh nothing personal

Had a similar case with smt4a.
>yhvh charms my demon with salvation
>heals over 30k hp
>fuck me
Still haven't completed it.

>going for the super secret true end
>surprised when it gets difficult
I'm gonna say "fuck it" and drop your shitty thread you lying piece of shit.

>tfw go to a bar every so often and pick up a random hottie just to prove that i still got it
Tell me more, weeb

It's supposed to be a hidden area for subsequent playthroughs, not something you're supposed to easily knock out the first time. Don't follow a guide (which you did, btw) and expect to be good enough to beat it.

>Don't follow a guide (which you did, btw)
no shit, everyone did

>dude you have to look at a bookshelf to save curly even though the game told you to let time pass lmao rofl

>no shit, everyone did
Is this not you, fuccboi? Make up your mind. And everyone followed a guide eventually, if you do it on your first playthrough, you're going to suck when you get to Hell.

>Play the game once
>It's easy
>Play with a guide
>It's the same apart from the last level difficulty spike
WOOW

>no shit, everyone did
Only the misinformed. Protip: The game is completely designed around the secret ending being a secret. That's why starting the route involves doing something not obvious (even though hints are everywhere about it, from the level design, to the mark on the ground, to later dialogue...) and that's why it's so difficult.

It's a secret. It's to reward players who love to replay it. All it gives is an extra level and an extra boss. That is all. Why are you so obsessive? Do you always have to get the best ending every time? Do you always cheat when you play games?

That's why it's a secret area, not supposed to be a gradual increase in difficulty. It's like Emerald or Ruby Weapon in FF7, though still way easier than that.
It's really not hard, stop trying to play it like a speedrun and slow down. When you first jump into that second area, there are a ton of enemies that spawn and drop hearts, that will fill up all your health to the max for whatever blocks you got hit by.
You shouldn't be taking any damage from Ballos's first form as it's very predictable and easy to evade, and even with just 30 HP or so, that should be enough for the other forms.

>speeds the game up
Huh?

>Need full health for Ballos
>Second area is literal RNG for whether you get hit by a block or not

There are plenty of health pickups after that room.

This stupid digging mini game in Okami. But idk, it was probably because I was already frustrated enough with the insufferable amount of waggle in the combat since I played the Wii version. I really need to try the PS3 HD version.

Sometimes the Omega beats the fuck out of me and sometimes he lays off. i could never figure out how manipulate it so he doesn't keep getting too close.

But besides that the finale is pretty easy.

Yeah compare the original to any of the Nicalis ports. Original runs at 50fps. Nicalis ports run at 60fps, achieved by speeding up the whole game. I guess they just have incompetent programmers? NXEngine also has this problem but you can choose between 50fps and 60fps, so it is the superior port.

Damn, that sucks. Never knew about it though

You DID get the Nikamura Timer that changes your title screen, right user?

I never noticed this and have like 80 hours in both versions, though I'm not doubting it's true. I was already so much better at the game by the time CS+ came out that it didn't matter anyway.
Game is a good bit old and not everyone could fart out an indie game back then, but it's usually best to not tie the game's speed to the framerate.

>It's a secret
Yes and?
Is impossible to do it without a guide
>Hint´s everywhere
No
>to reward players who love to replay it
Again, is impossible to do it with out a guide

>I never noticed this
It's super noticeable if you just jump around. Cave Story has delicious and fluffy moon jumps. Cave Story Plus has an ugly weight to it that feels like you're cutting off a good song.

You're not supposed to use a guide on your first playthrough, is the point we're trying to get at here.

>Is impossible to do it without a guide
So you're saying that Pixel leaked it out to the people the moment the game came out? Or you think people were datamining in 2004?

He's a retard, but in his defense all you had to do was change the file extensions in the game files to see images of Ballos and Hell tilesets.

Someone had to get it right at one point

I beat the game annually and still haven't figured it out. I think you just have to shoot a lot and hope for the best.

>Is impossible to do it without a guide
Game literally fucking tells you not to save Booster after your first playthrough

I didn´t at my first playtrough , in fact I did it at my first
what said

third*

News to me, I never knew there was a secret ending. I just played it and got sad at the end when almost everyone died.

I'm still stuck on the SA-X fight.

Sonic with the casino lvl, only found out how to get past thanks to Sup Forums, but never went back to finish it.

>inb4 any idiot could have figured out

Any time crafting system gets introduced.

Or any time a loredump starts. Recent examples: Tyranny and Talos Principle.

This, but on hard mode.

Doing the RNG falling blocks room with 3 health is by far the hardest thing in the goddamn game

>implying I unlocked that shit
>implying I didn't get the normal ending
Lol

NG++ in Rogue Legacy when every enemy is the strongest variant
NG+ was satisfyingly challenging but when every room is a fucking bullet hell its just too much

I never finished Cave Story.
My girlfriend dumped me and I was too sad for vidya

Looks like you need to GIT GUD, OP.
Conquering this, especially on Hard Mode, is one of the most satisfying things generally ever.
Every year, I force myself to beat the game on hard just to keep my skills sharp, and it's ALWAYS, ALWAYS worth it, and ALWAYS so god damn satisfying after all of the frustration.
Fuck, I'm gonna go play through Cave Story again, now. Thanks, OP.

weird how that happens, i was basically at the very end of far cry and then my break up happened and for some reason i just couldn't go back to it

>no shit, everyone did
Game has lots of visual cues. You had to be brain dead retarded to miss them.

not your personal blog

>ITT: times when YOU said "fuck it" and dropped the game
> >You
>Not my personal blog

No, I kept playing because the music is fantastic and in time I got gud.

youtube.com/watch?v=Vtxp70tVHyM

shut up DSP.

If you made it through the Last Cave you can do Hell

If you got depressed and just apathetically ceased playing, that's not the same thing as exclaiming "FUCK IT" and dropping the game.

>he didnt complete the true story
hah loser

when I find out I can't get the true ending on a game. any requirement for a true ending that isn't "collect all of the special items or "beat this optional place" is terrible

smart user, dont rush it guys

Op asked when we exclaimed it, not why :^)

>its okay to barely graduate

There are heals, that area after that metal boss dude, the statues got some heals in em

Did it 100% greatest accomplishment in my life

>i could never figure out how manipulate it so he doesn't keep getting too close.
Doesn't he just backs off if you shoot him enough ?
In all of my runs, he never was a problem

You're just trying to bitch

Really? I did this shit as a child.

>La Mulana Hell Temple
>get to pic related

But the boss isn't really hard either. You simply die a bunch of times as you figure out his patterns. When I finally actually beat him, I did so easily with 75-50% health leftover.

>Playing video game is comparable to graduating

I was just recently playing this. Got to the last few levels of the fourth world and just couldn't be bothered to play anymore. Trying to beat any more levels was too tedious and mind-numbing.

I gave up at changer of birth I believe it was called.
It had less time to play and the game started feeling more like a chore than the exploration and puzzle fun I had until that point it just didn't seem worth my time anymore.
The labyrinth was already annoying and felt like bullshit. The chamber of birth was just pure antifun.

But I didn't really say fuck it, I just lost interesting with time and it just fell out my daily routine.

...

is that splat tim?

Got sick of valves shit once I noticed they only cared of personal profit once they started to add more cosmetics instead of fixing the game

I didn't actually drop it though, I pushed through and after ~300 deaths I did it

Do people seriously find hell hard? Unless you're an idiot who wasted your health pot then it should be fine, without it Ballos may be a bitbtricky but not impossible. I remember falling for the Heavy Press kill at the end the first time I beat it, I was simaltaniously pissed and amused.

>You simply die a bunch of times as you figure out his patterns
Not OP, but that was the reason why I said fuck it to that level/boss. I'm more frustrated that the game is wasting my time, then at the actual challenge.

>Or you think people were datamining in 2004?

As far as I recall what'shisname, the translator, was posting online about all the text he translated that he couldn't find while playing the game. And that set people off looking for the hidden ending. Nobody data mined to figure out how to get the hidden ending, but it was only found after. AFAIK this is one of the earliest examples of data mining to find secrets in games

Horologium in Strange Journey
It manages to be more annoying than Grus and the only thing after you kill Jimenez is a long grind and the descent to kill Meme Aleph

>literal rng

get good and react to the rocks, retard

How do u get past this i.also dropped the game here

>what'shisname, the translator

Gideon Zhi

This is probably petty and will lead to the inevitable question, "why would you complain about having more gameplay," but this actively made me upset. I spend all this time trying to track down some arbitrary items to progress the plot, and then the game says, "Nah screw that, go grab three more arbitrary items that each probably have their own dungeon, and then you can progress the plot." I literally haven't touched Twilight Princess since I saw that cutscene three years ago.
