does this make me the vidya equivalent of an audiophile?

There's more input lag from your monitor and control you never notice that has nothing to do with the emulator, you're just a fucking autist is all.

>nothing to do with the emulator
t. never used the real hardware

>inb4 B-BUT I OWNED AN SNES 20 YEARS AGO

Nah, that's normal.
The vidya equivalent of an audiophile is an frame rate snob who complains when they have to play anything at under 120fps

Your shit plug and play and 60hz monitor delivers more input lag than what the emulator could do. Really you're just that god damn autistic.
>Muh Indigo2 boards are still good 20 years later

Fun fact, playing games on the Wii U tablet has considerably less input lag than playing on a TV.

Fucking Nintendo magic.

It has nothing to do with the monitor you dumbshit. My monitor has absolutely no input lag, but all emulators do inherently because they are emulating hardware through SOFTWARE.

What is this guy listening to that our plebeian ears are unable to detect the vileness of?

his wife getting fucked by BBC

All monitors have input lag. The least amount of input lag for a monitor on the market right now is 9ms.

>anime
okay

your lcd piece of shit 1800p monitor you paid a hundred bucks for is the real source of input lag. you dont notice it when playing pcgaymen because the casual shit available now a days is programed with that in mind. what you want to do is get yourself a nice crt monitor if you are going to play emus.

>THIS is the delusion of emulation fags
then why do 2d indie games play perfectly fine and have immediate responses? why is my mouse perfectly in sync with my hand?

PCSX2 has horrible input lag. I can't play anything that isn't a JRPG on it.

patapon is fucking unplayable on PPSSPP because of input lag

He's an audiophile for expensive headsets. Those were expensive, yet caused sharp aching pain in his condyle, the uppermost part of the jawbone, when used.

I don't have much issue with Dolphin but PCSX2 always feels pretty bad.

you're a moron

Audiophiles are the worst.

I don't know what it is about input lag, but it seems that NOTHING has ever caused the amount of asspain that it has.
literally how am I a moron? emulation is inherently delayed you fool

I use dolphin mostly. Occasionally PPSSPP and CEMU (But mostly to play BOTW and go "This will be really neat once its stable" and leave).

How badly am I fucked for input lag? Am I going to notice it and never be able to unsee it next time I boot up an emulator?

the solution is to never use real hardware. I was fine with emulating, but after I started collecting hardware I became a bit of an input lag autist. I'm sorry, but it really just bothers me

not like consoles don't also have input lag. NES has 3 frames of lag, a Pi 3 running Retropie emulates it with 4 frames of lag. Hardly much of a difference unless you're using a CRT monitor

SUBATOMIC PENETRATION RAPID FIRE THROUGH YOUR SKULL

I wonder if running gamecube files off a wii or a vWii on the WiiU would give me accurate results. I have a gamecube but fuck me that's an expensive library. Also I want to use a better controller for Metroid Prime.

OH SHIT I'M FEELIN IT

You've never actually used the real hardware have you, you've just heard what other people say right?

Jazz on $2.000 headphones.

Search Innerfidelty on Youtube, it is most popular video due meme reasons, outside that he is just a audio gear reviewer.

maybe that would be better, I can't speak from experience. The gamecube is the second of the holy trinity of abhorently overvalued hipster consoles, next only to the SNES and NES

>My monitor has absolutely no input lag

t.retard

Dolphin is very good. I've only tested Tekken 6 on PPSSPP and it's definitely not bad either. If you want bad try PCSX2.

But Innerfidelty is pretty chill.

Honestly I can't even play Patapon on my actual PSP, I have no rhythm awareness whatsoever.

yeah jazz on $2 headphones would sound pretty shit

Theres no way to properly compare them because you're using different controllers and different kinds of screen connections for them

obviously there is a little input lag, but it's so negligible that it hardly counts
right, which is why I'm going based on how the controls FEEL user

I honestly think it's because the average gamecube still gets used, coupled with the overvaluing and difficult piracy (Fucking tiny discs).

Melee's competitive community aside. The amount of people/normies who still rely on their gamecube for double dash, air ride, smash, mario party, among other is massive.
>More reliable than the N64
>One of the most durable consoles ever made
>Lots of multiplayer classics
>Can be played with zero compatibility issues on the Wii, one of the most widely available consoles of all time
It makes sense why the gamecube is still so popular. And people call the PS2 the longest lasting console just because it was still selling Fifa's after 2010.

>This guy gets absolutely destroyed
>Can only go back to that he played the original hardware at some nondescript "recent" time.
>Has nothing else to add
>Will continue to autist rage until the thread 404s

that's true user, which is why I said it was overvalued, not overrated. I do love my gamecube. You should buy a modchip and burn discs.
user, I own the hardware. I don't know what it is about input lag that makes emulationfags seethe with rage so much. jealousy maybe?

who was in the wrong here?
youtube.com/watch?v=L34S4Tt1EuQ

>He's physically repulsed by jazz on 2 dollar headphones
Holy shit I need to laugh at more over the top audiophiles like this guy and that guy in the other thread who put on the headphones and started crying. Where can I find these people?

I thoroughly enjoy action and faster paced games that heavily rely on quick reflexes and precise timing. Input lag is an instant killjoy to me in that regard, makes enjoying my favorite games a chore.

It's about magnitudes, if a pretty bad case for some controller and an average PC monitor is about 20ms, a really shitty emulation experience can be more like 250ms with original hardware being something like 80-150ms all in all. Unless you're playing on some garbage television, most of it comes from software.

>play FFVII on emulator
>game I loved way back
>excited to enjoy it again
>lots of lag
>well shit
>buy PC version because I wanted the sharper visuals
>PC version has lag as well

Thank God for refunds

Framerate tards are the equivalent of audiphiles.
Literally mentally ill

>shitty jazz
>shitty headphone
>old man who is probably half deaf
I wonder

TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS

>tried to emulate Space Channel 5 (PS2 version)
>It's literally unplayable due to input lag
Playing rhythm games on emulators is practically impossible.

>tfw you finished many games on the emulator for free while faggots here complain about a missing rendered shadow from a vase and optional filters

Input lag with emulators is a meme, probably pushed by copyright holders that are weakly trying to deter piracy of retro games. (Simultaneously ignoring the fact that classic games are offered as emulated downloads through services like Virtual Console)

If you have noticeable input lag, it's because you're using a shitty display. Input lag with any display is inevitable. Technology is not perfect.

do you actually think that copyright holders are sending out people to infiltrate video game boards and threads to spread a fiction they devised called input lag to deter people from emulating? are you literally autistic?

This.

There's a PC version user of Space Channel 5 Part 2 user. Just thought I'd offer it in case it helps

What are you guys emulating right now? Xenoblade with HD texture pack is quite nice.

I wonder if you thought your worthless post would convince people otherwise.
Sorry, not worthless, but even worse. Counter-productive.

are you a diagnosed autist?

that's how i imagine the average Sup Forums and Sup Forums user, only for different reasons

desu hes right. it sounds like shit

I know about that, but I wanted to play the first one too, and unfortunately emulation fails me.

>>uses emulator
>>input lag
get a better emulator or learn how to configure settings

try finding a better saturn emulator. or a different ps2 emulator. or a better NES emulator

user if you're interested in the DC library I highly recommend getting your hands on an actual dreamcast, some VMU's, and some controller. Emulating Dreamcast games never really took off because everyone defaults to that solution

Piracy is literally so stupidly easy. Just do a bit of research before you buy anything because you want to make sure you get a compatible dreamcast.

>You should buy a modchip and burn discs.

Piracy with optical consoles isn't that simple. They absolutely demand you use a certain brand of media, because just any off-brand recordable disc will probably strain your console's optical unit, assuming it boots up at all.

There's also the issue of rip quality. If you download a disc image that has any sectors even slightly out of alignment (which will be the case 99% of the time) the game probably won't boot. If it does boot, get ready for missing textures, stuttering audio and / or FMVs, and potentially a slew of other disruptive issues.

I play some burned discs on my PS2 and PS1, but I usually have to go through 2 or 3 different rip sources PER GAME before I find a rip that doesn't have misaligned data sectors. That's a lot of wasted (and very expensive) media. Quite frankly, it would have been cheaper for me to purchase used games from eBay.

The quality of GC rips is even worse. I have yet to get a single game to boot across three different consoles that I've modded. All the rips you can find online are just plain shit. They'll probably boot on a modded Wii with a backup hard drive, but you can forget burning them to mini DVDs.

>uses console
>sub 1080p, 30-60fps, no m/kb, input delay, long load times, no modding yada yada...
>game is unplayable
does this make me the vidya equivalent of a sane person?

Wait, is there not a good NES emulator in existence?

How is that even possible? We have an amazing one for GC/Wii, GBC, and PSP. How could we possibly not manage NES? Or is this a meme about scanlines and how to emulate them?

...

It's more that of all the consoles, the NES is the one where input lag is most noticable

>do you actually think that copyright holders are sending out people to infiltrate video game boards and threads to spread a fiction they devised called input lag to deter people from emulating?

That's exactly right, user. Welcome to the Misinformation Age(tm). Corporations, politicians and other organized entities have been abusing the anonymity of the Internet to push their respective agendas for years now.

THICC BOI

You should explain that you're a eurocuck if you're gonna use the decimal instead of comma. That shit is retarded as all hell.

>or a different ps2 emulator
i have no problems at all with pcsx2
>or a better NES emulator
fucking any emulator works perfect for NES
>saturn emulator
probably the only console that i can't talk about when it comes to emulators, but it seems like most of the library for it was arcade ports so just get a fucking mame emulator

I don't understand, why is this necessary?
then I guess I just imagined the input lag. I should seriously make a video or something about this, emulationfags are literally delusional

>he doesnt understand optimum sound requirements

>My monitor has absolutely no input la

>i have no problems at all with pcsx2
okay, edit time:
yes, some games have graphical glitches, but the discussion was about input lag
i just know that you're going to change the goalpost

see

Why is that snake eating electricity?

>what are facts
>muh feels
>calling anyone delusional

he does it for free

>PS2
back then i used to lend out games and copy them, shit was cash and worked well even with cheapo discs

I can't help that it's so dumb that it's funny, even if you understand that it was a dumb thing to say.

You will never be as pretentious as the man in that webm.

Framerate is a lot more noticible than input LAG.

On consoles I'm ok with 30 because normally I'm sitting farther away on a couch or something and controllers do really well with 30fps

On pc tho I can't stand most stuff under 60 because it's super noticible and hampers my experience.

I used to have a massive "collection" I just had because I happened to like games that apparently weren't printed in large numbers and became down low popular (VP, Suikoden 2, Magic Son Goku, etc)

Anyway, I sold the shit out of it, got near 5k. I have never once felt any issue with doing it, and I have, since then, replayed many of them through emulation.

The bottom line is, from a bro that had it all and let it go, emulation suffices.

he's exaggerating for the laughs. Those headphones to have sibilance issues, though.

his wall of fame is actually legit. Got some sealed cans that were on it and fug they're great

That's $2,000 not $2 you fucking idiot.

it's washed out, has noticeable video artifacts and just looks assfucked to shit. nintendo magic.

But higher frame rates on a monitor that supports it are noticeable. You'd notice if you ever used a 120hz monitor

>make a thread complaining about inane minutia in video games
>parallel it with a laughably bad equal in musicfags
>thread is 200% bickering

Never change Sup Forums.
If you want to have a civil discussion about emulation and input lag grab some retro games and go over to /vr/, those guys will share similar stories and try to help you get a better solution.

what did he mean by this

>haven't watched in over a year
>dude is now full-on santa claus

No, what you wrote is two thousand dollars.
$2.000 is gibberish.

So he's mind cumming from the quality?

Still fucking weird.

Just put these input lag rocks on top of your display and your input lag will disappear! I'll give them to you for a special value of $199 that's 40% off!

Two thousand, seven hundred and forty nine dollars. Wow.

they're $2,000 dollars and have issues. I've had headphones from that company, and if your ears are sensitive high notes can actually hurt. Some people swear by them though. Weird shit.

This isn't the real input delay. You fell for heeby tricks.

false advertising that is only achievable in incredibly unique scenarios. In the "wild" it will never be 2ms.

How don't I get it? Obviously there is a slight delay with everything; if you want to get down to the nitty gritty then the speed at which the electricity travels produces a delay. But my monitor isn't a piece of shit riddled with input lag, so for all intents and purposes it isn't there
Have you used the original hardware? If not then your opinion is instantly void. Try using a sega saturn emulator and then tell me that input lag isn't real
