How the hell did Leon get into Silent Hill? Is this the biggest plot hole in Resident Evil?

...

Its a tasty one

Silent Hill provides. In Eddy's psychological hellscape, free pizza comes as part of the deal, while you get all the health drink you can handle.

I like to think it's part of his own Silent Hill.
Pizza IS unhealthy, y'know...

he brought it with him

>mfw im eddie

youtube.com/watch?v=aalI-pmhgb4

it's called delivery

>implying Pyramid Head didn't deliver and slice it himself

So I really want to play these games -- specifically the first 3. Should I get the HD remakes?

I hear they're not very good but I don't know what option I have to be honest.

What does the health drink taste like?

PC versions or emulate/pirate PS2, don't play the HD

God damn, I love this entire soundtrack.
>Silent Hill pizza delivery
>Under 30 minutes or your health drink is free

Is eddie supposed to go next door

That looks like pizza to you?

Don't touch the HD versions.

The "HD" "remasters" are absolutely fucking awful. Do not even joke about them. They're NOT remakes at all.

Here's the DL links for the PC versions + the SH PC Guide. Play in release order

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" is a all-in-one fix, that works as a no-cd crack as well. It is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW fix mentioned in the guide, you can use the sh2proxy's EXE as the no-cd crack!

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

SH2-4 do not support Xinput gamepads. Either use Xpadder, a DirectInput pad, or just play with KB+M.
You can now see some decent emulator settings for SH1 as well in the guide. If the image of the game does NOT fill your entire screen in fullscreen mode, check your plugin AND GPU control panel's image scaling settings!
Also give the new PGXP emulator a shot for a lot less wobbly PS1 graphics.

Gross, probably very medicinal tasting.

The town.

good post

The PS3/360 HD Collections are THE most embarrassing, broken shit ever to be released with the words "HD" on the cover. Avoid at all costs, don't ruin your first times with these magnificent classics with those abominations!
Not to mention the "collection" only has shitty versions of SH2 and 3 ONLY.

You can download the SH1 from PSN Store for few bucks. It's the 1:1 PS1 original, emulated via official software, so it's quite authentic.
For 2-4, there are legit PC ports, that are piss easy to run on any PC-like thing from past 10 years.

As far as we know Eddie's version of Silent Hill could be completely different from James.
It could possibly be that Silent Hill for him is just a normal looking community filled with people, since his trauma came from his interactions with people.
Similar to how James was forced into various challenges, maybe Eddie was forced into ordering a pizza. He could have solved a puzzle that resulted in a coupon for free pizza, but his social anxiety held him back until his hunger took over, and he was finally forced to confront a fear of his.

Don't play HD.

The HD remakes are a trainwreck, avoid them at all costs. Like said, either play the PC versions of 2 & 3 (they need a few fan patches to work on modern machines & enhancements) or emulate. Play SH1 on a PS1, PS2 & PS3 or emulate.

>I don't know what option I have to be honest
Do this, play it on emulator, or buy a refurbished ps2 and play the games on that. But absolutely do not get the "HD" remakes.

>mfw Downpour tries to make "rules" for the town and introduces a physical, human avatar for the towns evil

And people say it's a good SH game...

HD Collection works fine, so just get that on PS3.

Nice try. While the HD stuff is garbage, SH1 on PSN has some issues. I know because I own both versions.
The aspect ratio is screwed up, for once. The dithering on the fog is screwed up.
Harry leaves a "solitaire trail" behind him during loading screens and the parts of the flashlight lens flare that are supposed to be entirely transparent are just translucid which creates squares atop of squares when facing the camera.

Anyone know anything about a looping audio bug with SH2 PC?

Did Motioninjoy just completely shit itself?
I would like to play these games with a controller on my PC but it seems that the main program i used doesn't work anymore, seemingly anywhere

what does Sup Forums recommend?

>introduces a physical, human avatar for the towns evil
No, it doesn't.
>And people say it's a good SH game...
Is this just a b8 post? Fucking NO ONE says that.

The mailman is literally supposed to be the towns spirit.

And there are tons of Downpour apologists on here...

>Nice try. While the HD stuff is garbage, SH1 on PSN has some issues.
Everyone says that, but I own both PAL and NTSC versions on my (PAL) PS3 Fat, and I've never had any issues with it. Looks and plays exactly the same as on my PS2/1, and they even support my ages old orgiinal saves.

everyone in silent hill is dead

Thanks for this post, user. I haven't played SH 2&3 for a long time, but now I want to.

Holy shit, thanks man. I'm at work now so I'll save this later.

I thought I was crazy playing it on PS3 and seeing those solid lens flares, but the loading screen is just nitpicking, it looks cool at least

>Harry leaves a "solitaire trail" behind him during loading screens
That's normal and intended. Many emulators just FAIL at showing said motion blur effect, which is a good way of testing their compatibility.

All the dithering / transperency issues are also partly caused by the fact that you're NOT playing on CRT + via old component cables. The game practically ran at 256 colors, and used heavy dithering to make the game look smoother. Coincidentally, it also makes it look grittier, like the Film Grain in the sequels.

you're welcome broskis!
I would recommend starting with the very first game, unless you've just recently played it.

eddie thinks he's at chuckie cheese or some shit

Thanks archive this please

it's an ancient problem caused by the modern multi-core CPUs, and it's addressed by just about ALL these modern fan-patches mentioned.

Alternatively, you can just force the game to run on a single core of your processor via the Set Affinity -option in the CTRL+ALT+DEL panel. But you'll miss the other fixes then.

I've always imagined it tasting like this.

It's not bad, it tastes like... smarties candies but as a drink.

oh user

I'll play them in order starting with the first one. The fourth is the only one I have never played. I loved the first three and origins, hated 5 and downpour was meh, so what are the chances that I'll like The Room?

I've never played any of them. I actually have a working PS2 I just don't know how common finding these games are; I assume not very.

wasn't as good as the first 3 but as you can see by the later games it could have got a LOT worse, making 4 actually decent by today's standards for silent hill.

>so what are the chances that I'll like The Room?
Decent. It at least is 100% Team-Silent made, meaning while it'll be different, it's very authentic.

It's pretty different, weapons break, enemies can't be killed, a lot of focus on the hub world, I don't think you can know whether you like it or not from playing the first 3. Judge it on its own.

>I actually have a working PS2 I just don't know how common finding these games are; I assume not very.
They pop up from time to time in used games stores (the few still around) and online auctions, etc. Getting more rare each day, and fans / collectors know their value.

PC ports are pretty much unobtainium, and cost a fortune now.

Any idea why the options on the main menu (New Game, Options, etc.) are invisible? From my VERY brief testing, everything else seems fine.

SH1 is still my favorite title & horror game even after all these years. Shame its hated by kids

I thought it was only partly made by Team Silent, or at least the same Team Silent that worked on 2 and 3.

Nope, it's pure TS, through and through.
It's pre-production already started back in 2001.

Yes, the team composition changed a bit between the games. And yes, SH4 was always Silent Hill related game.
