What is the video game equivalent of Sword Art Online
Revolutionized the art of writing light novels and producing anime forever
world of warcraft
ITT: Baby's first animu
Go back to
popular doesn't mean good
>revolutionized the art of writing light novels and producing anime forever
Yeah, no. It is a decent LN up until GGO hits you. I bet you faggot didnt even bother reading the shitfest that is the Alicization Arc.
League of legends
Revolutionary doesn't necessarily mean good
Yeah, no, fuck off, XxXkirito4201999XxX
Argumentum Ad Populum fallacy.
you already did that thread
>SAO
Maybe TLOU? Whatever started the trend of third person slow ass walk simulators passing themselves off as """"games"""".
And if by "revolutionizing" you mean such quality content as "14 years worth of semen" or the concept of a MMO Novel, it still is not revolutionizing shit. Log Horizon and countless other LNs manage to make the concept of SAO better. Also, the point of you not even knowing shit about the Alicization Arc and how much of a crapfest it is, validates anything mentioned above.
Literally dot hack faggot. They even have a ps4 remaster that looks cool coming soon
Uncharted 1, I believe. That, or technically Heavy Rain or maybe Indigo Prophecy. Which would make more sense, because they're about on par in terms of quality with SA:O.
>What is the video game equivalent of Sword Art Online
League of Legends
>Absolute trash
>Despite being trash that's shit compared to any other thing in its genre it's still popular
I liked the first half of the first season.
The rest was shit.
League of Legends doesn't have a parody that's superior to the original.
Even though there may or may not be a video game equivalent to SAO as a property. I do wish there was a videogame like SAO the game. Even if it does have basic as shit RPG elements...it does seem like something you can waste hundreds of hours in
I await the day .hack/G.U remaster is released and shits all over SAO.
Atleast Haseo is edgy for good reasons and not just a generic edgy mc aka shitiro
>fujoshits
>moefags
>isekaitards
is there any hope for the anime industry?
You mean every mmo ever.
I've seen quite a lot of anime my whole life but I have no idea what isekai shit is. Glad I kept myself away since SAO is twilight for weebs.
I'm not even OP, but you do know what "revolutionary" means, right?
>causing a great, sudden, or dramatic change
SAO did that for LNs because of the dozens of copycats it spawned and the subgenre it popularized, ergo, it caused a dramatic change to the preferred subject manner for them (made it isekai) and also resulted in quite a few isekai anime becoming popular, but that doesn't mean SAO itself is good, which I never said it was. It's similar to the effect of Infinite Stratos on the harem genre.
Finally a smart poster in this thread not blinded by irrational hate
isekai roughly means "other world"
it's when the main character gets transported to a fantasy world parallel to the real world. and very often it will have RPG mechanics added to it. For some reason nips have an aversion to just plain fantasy settings
it might just be the most played out and boring genre ever, and SAO might just be the worst one
>single-handedly innovated its genre
The west writes much better fantasy, only natural for the nips to copy it.
>For some reason nips have an aversion to just plain fantasy settings
For nips, fantasy setting is synonymous with RPG mechanics.
I'm going to assume you meant to reply to another post
And for OP's question, it doesn't nail all the points, but the closest thing to SAO in terms of effect on the industry is probably pic related.
No, I did mean to reply to that post
Fuck you, I thought it was good
why do they do this?
is it autism? have they really played so many hours of Dragon Quest that their brains are just stuck associating the phenomenon of medieval fantasy with floating numbers?
why can't I just have another Lodoss, or Slayers? why?
Thanks for explaining user. It's pretty overused. I've seen a few and they're kind of eh...but I guess konosuba is the best as it's simply just a great gag series that pops up every now and then.
Plain fantasy setting is lovely, but a self-insert shitfest is way more popular.
I'd honestly think a game would work better with the isekai theme desu.
Accel world was better in every way
Is amazing how a hack can evolve so much.
Eh I mean there's a handful of decent ones(Dunbine, Escaflowne, Rayearth). I think the problem is that most of the modern ones are purely a vehicle for Otaku wish fulfillment bait. To be fair that's many genres now but isekai shit is especially flavor of the month right now
>Someone at work asks if I watch anime
>Say yes
>They ask if i watch SAO
>"fuckno"
>Ask them if they've seen the classics (bebop, trigun etc)
>"Nope"
Fuck casuals man.
how the actual fuck do you "revolutionize" novel writing?
Also someone give me a quick rundown on why this shit is supposedly so good.
>What is the video game equivalent of Sword Art Online
The Last of Us.
Got a lot of newer people into the medium.
Painfully mediocre and a massive waste of potential.
Normies love it and think it's the best of it's medium because that's the only thing they've seen.
Started a popular bad trend that's bringing more terrible shit like it.
How in the honest fuck does someone end up watching SAO but hasn't seen the entry level toonami staples that figuratively everyone has
Log horizon and konasuba died... FOR THIS?
Uh... because Kirito is so fucking cool??????
He uses 2 (two) sords and kills bad guis and qt3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 love him (why wont they love me im a nice guy) and he has a lot of awesome skills.
This. Contrarians, BRzilians and ruskies gonna hate.
Log horizon... more like log YAWNizzzzzon
lol
I remember watching this shit.
>main character is automatically the best at everything he does
>special snowflake who is the only one in the entire game allowed to dual-wield
>beats the invincible creator of the game because he's invincible + 1
>literally every single named female character falls in love with him automatically
>even his own damn sister
The walking definition of a Mary Sue.
it's not good at all. wish fulfillment for 13 year olds and emotionally stunted manchildren who lack the ability to enjoy a nuanced story, and that's why they like it.
also I guess the animation has a relatively high budget, and is pretty attractive if you're into brightly-colored particle effects and random spinning and camera movement in your action scenes, but it's not my cup of tea and the action choreography and direction isn't even above average by TV anime standards. painfully average.
Dark Souls
...
>having the attention span of a goldfish
its funny how most of the doujinsare NTR
i think the artists hate him for being such a mary sue
I know Sup Forums mocks the idea of a male power fantasy, but SAO is probably the closest thing to it
Log Horizon died because there isn't enough LN material to continue, and the author went to prison for tax fraud. I really want season 3 (or a full on remake ala FMA:B), but it'll take years.
>wish fulfillment for 13 year olds
cool. That stuff makes me want to vomit
>first season was great
>second season was completely unnecessary
>shooter mmo season was cool and introduced cute Shino and trap Kirito
Movie seems pretty cool too.
Just wish .hack// was as popular as SAO, maybe then it wouldnt have died.
but hes such a faggot about it though
>revolutionized the art of writing light novels and producing anime forever
This is not 2006 and that is not how you spell Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu.
SAO is the sao if vidya
>first season was great
no
You mean the 90s and Evan jelly on right?
DOOM
Also, the NES.
Wait I don't remember this scene, where is it from?
>manage to make the concept of SAO better. Also, the point of you not even knowing shit about the Alicization Arc and how much of a crapfest it is, validates anything mentioned above.
user, he literally just told you revolutionary does not mean good, why are you responding to that with a post about how it's not revolutionary because it's not good?
these things can be revolutionized more than once, you know
I'd say that the same is true of Akira
>second season was completely unnecessary
nah, first season did a good job making me care about Kirito x Asuna, so I at least needed some closure, since first season ended with you not knowing if he got to meet Asuna again.
So even if second season wasn't great, at least provides needed closure.
I know, guy. I'm just jesting around, guy.
>same is true of Astro Boy/Tetsujin
the first few episodes of season 1 was great when we all thought we were going to see an awesome adventure of them trying to beat the game and survive
not some shit romance and unnecessarily forced harem
then we got to where kirito gets to asuna in the cage and every NTR fan bust a nut and the doujins went wild
didnt watch the gun season after because i didnt want to bother
>you die in the game you die in real life
...
More like Swordfart
BRAAAAPP
Second season was stupid drama filler and the cringiest villain in anime ever
Threads about the game are gonna get shitposted to death with SAOshit, won't they?
>isekaitards
T-there's good isekai
Log Horizon was fine
Is there any one that's like .hack//sign, but with more fighting?
the other .hack animes
Huh I remember doing the top part.
>1999
Come on now
I want to sugu Suguha's sugus
>Watch it because Kajiura did the music, and concept reminds me of .hack so might be cool.
>Story is shit, and soundtrack is Kajiura's worst.
>Anime is popular and will get more sequels.
>Kajiura will continue writing for it.
Fuck this shit.
Guy, how much cum glooped sloppily into Asuna again, I forget
>sister stays as a blonde elf while everyone else looks how they look in real life
I never watched past the stupid fairy shit but I thought they would have changed that
They explained that in the game. Suguha used her headset from ALO, which didn't have the weird set up sao villain guy put in the original full dive helmets, so it didn't change her appearance. What they don't explain in game is why she never logged out, since she wasnt using a death helm
>>revolutionized the art of writing light novels and producing anime forever
How so?
The OOU explanation is probably didn't want to get into hot water over the incest stuff so they changed it so she doesn't look related to Kirito
who's butt is that?
Why are here sugus that big anyway?
