I remember this dropping in Scholomance and rolling for it on my Shaman, managed to get it. Wasn't actually super amazing stat wise aside from that stam, but I was just too happy to have an epic and be part of the cool kids.

It was a little after I started playing I think I was like level 20 or so. Couldn't enter the city without being murdered by whatever it was constantly, dead players everywhere

First time I ever raided on my Pally main after just hitting 70 too, in good old Blade's Edge Mountains. I was kinda surprised I even got it, with a roll over 90 as a pog to boot.
Funny enough, with WotLK I picked up a DK, even got a Rouge to max, and never touched the Pally again.
I think I still had it somewhere in one bank or another before my character got deleted from being inactive for 3 years

Oh geez, I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Maces have an inherent chance to stun (I seem to remember). I don't recall if rogues ever got melee AP from strength, I think you do but not a lot. I guess I'd pick the mace but it's hard to say.

You would pick the heavier mainhand because that's what sinister strike would use for its damage, and it made the attack instant.
I think sub or ass. would use daggers only because their mainskill required you to use daggers.
The proc rate shit was so small it was never taken into account.
Just wanted to say, I've resubbed every xpac since vanilla and binged for a few months each time, and legion makes me happy like vanilla and burning crusade used to. It's jus a great one. I just fucking love WoW, guys.
Sub definitely required that you used daggers, nearly every sub move required you to have a dagger in at least main hand IIRC, may have been both hands. I also think that envenom or one hemo required a dagger for 'sin.

Aside from wanting to hit a certain % of one of the secondary stats you just equip whatever the highest level item is without thinking about it. It was a little different at the start of the current xpac but people complained about getting "upgrades" they couldn't use.

Yeah it was that way with fire mage and crit too, crit was worth WAY more than int and so I had a 70% chance to crit while we were raiding EN. I miss that, it was a lot more fun when I was converting nearly every free pyroblast.

We ended up capping the Graveyard, and kept the momentum all the way to the end of the game. Old AV was a bit of a drag sometimes, but it was a unique zone where you got to experience stuff you saw in WC3, but from the PoV of the individual units. I still reminisce about it whenever I get the urge to resub to WoW.

That's the opposite of what that picture is conveying.
Though I don't really agree as far as the cosmetics go, I can still agree with the general sentiment. Vanilla WoW had some of the worst game design ever, and required huge amounts of time commitment to go anywhere, and if you didn't raid your character screeched to a halt unless you were willing to share your account and get PvP gear.
But at the same time, the leveling process wasn't such a bore, nighttime actually looked like nighttime, and the community was 20x better due to each server being its own microcosm. Having a good community experience and actually having people know you by your name outside of the guild was great.
Back before epic ground mounts were made a lot cheaper, I kept my materials for the warlock class mount quest. I kept getting whispers every so often from other warlocks looking to save 300ish gold for their epic mount. Over time, these whispers became more frequent because I knew how to do the boss encounter like the back of my hand, and that I only accepted tips and never any payment for my services. I miss that kind of community feeling.

Those things are fought over so intensely on high-pop servers. I've had a situation where 2 alliance and 2 horde rogues all jumped each other after a first person started trying to loot it. (I then ninjad it during the chaos and then 3 of those damn elites spawned and killed us all)

The sword is better because sinister strike goes off of weapon damage, not weapon dps, and the +2 strength won't bump up the effective weapon damage of the mace as high as the sword.
Having said all of that, you could argue that if you've already built up weapon skill in maces then you may as well just use the mace, but it's not like it's difficult for rogues to build weapon skill quickly when they have abilities to spam.

I'm glad they didn't make those classes all homogeneous. It's nice that there are different stats because it means there's more gear that less people will fight over - if that makes sense.

In Vanilla, STR/AGI gave attack power, but in differing amounts depending on whether you were a strength class (2 AP per STR for warriors, not sure about pallies) or an agility class (rogues, hunters).
For casters, INT gave max mana and that's about it. If you wanted to increase your spell damage or spell healing, you had to get items with spell damage or spell healing. There were also elemental spell damage items (i.e. +fire damage, +shadow damage) that were generally present in greater quantities than with items with general spell damage.
