Let's have a comfy 3DS thread

What are you playing?

What are you looking forward to?

etrian

odyssey

I bought a 3ds a few days ago with monster hunter 4 ultimate. Been playing that and the demo for sonic lost world.

I'm surprised by lost world. It's not bad.

which one has those characters?

i want to buy a flat 2ds for my nephews 8th birthday

i am thinking of getting pokemon sun, zelda ocarnia of time and MH generations

it also comes with free mario game

i was wondering how durable is the 2ds, like is it kid proof ?

playing pic related.
once I get the money for it I'm probably gonna by Ever Oasis

Ever Oasis is pretty good so far. Already beat the second boss, lurking the new areas.

5, coming "this fall".

Theres a character creator because they have color pallets and stuff around I just dont have the bookmark anymore. and apparently reclassing is locked behind a level 2 quest or something.

Buy the New 2DS for him.

ignore me im stupid

I'm playing Ever Oasis. Not very far into it, but I love it so far.

Ok.

Maybe it's because I'm a poorfag, but I haven't played my 3DS with any actual 3DS games for like, months. Mostly I've been playing Virtual Console and DS games on it.

I wish I had the money to buy all the games that I wanted and for a New 3DS model. Oh well. Thinking about just hacking it and pirating a bunch of games. I do have Samus Returns preordered though, can't fucking wait for that shit.

i was going to but i am worried he may break it which is why i wanted the flat 2ds as hear its more durable

do you want him to be a laughing stock? just get him a regular 3DS. I got the original ds when I was like 5 and never broke it.

>I got the original ds when I was 5

How fucking old are you?

He's 8 years old. He needs to learn how to take care of his shit. Just get him an old 3DS (dirt cheap on ebay/GameStop (GS even has the Majora's Mask 3DS), or a New 2DS.

>do you want him to be a laughing stock
not him but i think the 2ds looks pretty cool, like a retro gameboy

>What are you playing?
Pokemon Yellow

>What are you looking forward to?
Illusion of Time(Gaia) or Terranigma would be nice

is it a good game? I was planning on buying at after I get the money for it.

pic related is what I'm playing now

It's not. It's a wedge.

I'm playing Tales of the Abyss. It works really well on the 3DS, dunno why everyone seems to just forget that it was released on here, it's a great port. Maybe it's just cause it only got a limited physical release though i have a torrented digital copy so whatever

Trying to decide what I should play next. Thinking either Super Metroid or A Link to the Past since I've never played either somehow.

>He's 8 years old. He needs to learn how to take care of his shit
its not him im worried about but his sociopathic younger brother who takes all his games and breaks them

its like secret of mana but more.. building

I mean, it came out in late 2004...so he is probably around 17ish?

>tfw I almost got a physical copy at EB Games for a good price, but I couldn't bring myself to bring a game with that cover up to the two qts working there
Why does it have to look like that. I'm usually not embarrassed about my weeb taste in things, but something about that cover is just creepy

I've only gotten through the first dungeon, but I like it. Tons of recruitable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses to certain enemies, as well as different skills that nobody else can do (giving you a LOT of replayabliity). You also get to grow your town at a pretty brisk pace, and you're in charge of keeping all the different shops supplied, who will give you a cut of the profits in return (it will also make the residents happier, which will extend your HP bar). Quite a few puzzles in the first dungeon, as well, and they all take a little bit of thought (I'd put it about on par with Zelda: LttP, difficulty wise).

It's a slow start, but if they threw you into the thick of things, you really would wind up overwhelmed.

So yeah, shy of the LONG tutorial, I think the game's pretty great. Secret of Mana combat (without weapon switching), plus characters with special abilities that are needed to solve puzzles (granting dungeon replayability), building a city like Tarrey Town from BOTW, and keeping people supplied to keep your wallet fat, and your lifebar full.

FORESHADOWING

Im continuing Mario & Luigi Paper Jam
Just got out of the underground prison into the tropical area

Well, if the dude wants to break shit, then the brother isn't going to be stopped by the 2DS. It's more durable, but it isn't Nintendium strong.

Oh, and I'll say this if you pick it up: ignore the combat tutorial. They want you to dodge attacks by pressing a button. Don't. Just keep moving, and attack when an opportunity presents itself.

I just got one this past weekend and I've been plowing through Virtue's Last Reward. Also played a little of Ever Oasis and Pocket Card Jockey.

I love how easy it was to hack this thing.

i bought pokemon sun and its my first pokemon game

holy shit, i have been missing out

>LONG tutorial
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

never played monster hunter before

do i get gens or 4 ultimate ?

3DS
>modern handheld system
>primary use is gaming
>800x240p display
>games run at 240p

iPhone 6+
>modern phone
>primary use is texting and calling
>1920x1080p display
>games can run all the way up to 1080p

I openly admit its a grind for the first 2 or 3 hours, but if you grit your teeth and get through it, there's a lot of potential that seems to be realized (though at only a few hours in, I leave room that I could be wrong).

What's your point? I have an iPhone 6S, a 3DS, and a Vita. For playing games, I rank them as:
Vita>3DS>iPhone 6S.

>3ds is $149
>iphone 6+ is $749

you should get either Black2/White2 or Platinum next.

I've seen a few copies of B2/W2 floating around my local gamestop so you might still beable to get those pretty easy. still kinda pricey though but Platinum is a bit older, so you might have to order that one online if you want to play it. it'd be worth it though

Platinum is my favorite pokemon game

I got burned out after Silver, having picked up Yellow, then Silver. They were really fun, but I didn't want to keep doing the same shit again and again.

Guys is it true that you lose the capability to go online after you hack your 3ds for free games?

I was really thinking of buying a New 3DS but that really put me off. I never bought games for the ds lite either.

i never knew how comfy pokemon would be and the whole open world-ish levels where you can randomly catch and battle pokemon is pretty cool

4U

either one is fine though but 4u has a deeper story and offline mode but gens has more monsters, better online, hunting styles etc

Shantae for the Gameboy Color on Virtual Console. This game is also incredibly difficult and thankfully, it has a Save State system. Fun game, the graphics are impressive for a Gameboy Color game.

Other than that, nothing else. I don't know what I want for 3DS. Maybe Mario 3D Land. Sadly, no Sonic Mania on the 3DS.

I loved DS's original line up but there is nothing comfy about that control scheme

Set your 3DS so it doesn't report back to Nintendo on the games you're playing.

If you get banned you can switch a file and get unbanned.

Ehh after 6 years I'm pretty done with this system, had some great memories with it though.

I can understand that. I grew up with pokemon, so after I finished each game I'd have to wait a few years to play a new one, but going through all of them at once without spacing out the time between games could get tiring.

Thats pretty cool to know, thanks man, might look into buying a second hand n3ds

I have that game downloaded but I only ever played it for like 5 minutes. I also never did beat Risky's Revenge. Got right up to near the end where you need to collect some shit and then put it down even though I liked it. I need to play Pirate's Curse and Half-Gene Hero as well. There's like a shit ton of indie games on the 3DS that I still need to get to. Still got to play Shovel Knight, still have to play Azure Striker Gunvolt, and so on.

Also, I can vouch for 3D Land. Fun game, although it's probably the worst 3D Mario.

RPG Maker FES out tomorrow boys

playing Toushin Toushi girls gift
its pretty good, its like guardians crusade but with monster girl cards instead of wind up toys

A phone from 2012 - 2014 has significantly better CPU and GPU power than a fucking dedicated handheld gaming system from the same era. Obviously phone games suck ass, but the 3DS should have launched with hardware that was at least twice as powerful, or at least good enough to run games at twice the resolution with screens that were also twice the resolution.

I love comfy 3DS threads.
Anyway
Playing The Legend of Legacy and Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. Awaiting so I can play with the FES player, which was already released.

Looking forward to a hopeful localization of The Alliance Alive.

Personally, its not the graphics that bother me. I never liked the 3D functionality, and I hate the design of the thing. It causes hand cramps to hold. I had to purchase some weird speaker thing just to make it comfortable.

The vita is a much more comfy handheld to use. Huge fan of the OLED, too.

>at gamestop
>looking to buy 3ds games
>have 50 doolars of spending money
>pic out the new etrian odyssey game I wanted
>still have cash left
>choice comes down to harvest moon or devil survivor
>never played games from either series
>never even heard of devil survivor
>end up picking harvest moon
d-did I make the right choice senpai?

If you like HM, sure, although story of seasons is more HM than the 3DS HM. Devil Survivor, it depends. I liked the second one but the first wasn't terribly engaging to me, although most of Sup Forums will tell you it's an incredible game.
Don't regret it user, just play some vidya.

One is relaxing farming and shit.
The other is killing demons and shit.
What'd ya want?

Yes, since Devil Survivor is on sale very often on the eshop, so if you want to play both it's not like you missed out. Just enjoy whatever Harvest Moon 3DS is like.

I would have gotten both if I had the money. was just looking for a fun new game series I hadn't played before.

Harvest Moon requires a lot of patience, especially for the strange 3DS one, which is nothing like the rest of the series.
Devil Survivor requires some strategy skill, as it is a grid based SRPG.
But like said, DeSu is on sale fairly often on the eshop so you didn't really miss out by not buying it at GS.

What you guys do when the 3ds starts steaming out and you already saved the game?

I usually stay in the vicinity of the save trying to not trigger anything, but looking at that red LED blinking around gives me anxiety.

>letting your 3ds run out of battery while playing
literally how? I left mine on for 2 days strait without charging and it's still on.

I save, quit and then turn it off when the battery is red, before it flashes if I cannot charge it at the moment.

I picked this game up finally, it's kind of neat but it's more like MonHun mixed with PSO just wearing a skin of Final Fantasy. Regardless I'm still having a lot of fun with it and it's a really cute game.

I'm playing stella glow which is surprisingly enjoyable.

i was so hyped for legend of legacy but the fact that there was no story really bummed me out, i get the game is more about exploration but i really need some sort of story in my games even if its simple or generic

I just want Metroid Samus Returns

I need it

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. It's the first game I've played in the series and I've really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to Return of Samus in September. I'm relatively new to Metroid, so in preparation I've just finished the NES original and after Paper Jam, will move on to the original Metroid II. I'll probably also pick up Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions when it comes out to continue playing through the Mario & Luigi games too.

i can't wait until superstar saga + bowsers minions comes out, it looks pretty good.

do it user, i modded mine months ago and it was the right decision, no problems whatsoever

Anyone else thinks ever oasis is using the same engine GREZZO used for LoZ MM and OoT? The interface checks out, and the overall assets seem to heavily borrow from the 3DS versions of the LoZ games. Go stand inside your house hut for a while and tell me that's not nearly the same wood texture used in kokiri forest's homes

I still want/need to get:

>Kirby Planet Robobot
>Mario & Luigi Paper Jam
>Pokemon Moon
>Rhythm Heaven Megamix
>Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Superstar Saga >= Bowser's Inside Story > Dream Team > Paper Jam > Partners in Time
All of them are good, but Partners in time ruined villain banter by having them all speak in unpronounceable symbols.
Also, if you haven't played Paper Mario or The Thousand Year Door, those should come first. Skip Shitter Star. Dunno about Color Splash, but it looked kinda lame.

>Also, if you haven't played Paper Mario or The Thousand Year Door
I would absolutely love to play through these and wish either was available on the 3DS. I've spent years kicking myself for not picking up the first Paper Mario back when it was out and I had a real N64.

Bowser's Inside Story also sounds great and I'm keeping my eye out for the cartridge. Really, the Mario & Luigi series is another one I completely missed out on and wish I'd discovered sooner. It's amazing how well the Mario games translate to an RPG format.

>mfw when eurofag
>Downloading it now

What games or apps do you guys usually boot up daily?

For me it's Badge Arcade, Pokemon Shuffle and usually 3D Land.

someone made a pretty siick android app for generations. not sure if there's one that's as good for 4u

Bump

This is a nice thread

Honestly, am I better off getting a N3DS and a set of faceplates or a N2DSXL? I'd save about thirty bucks getting the latter.

Depends how much you like the 3D.

Not really a factor; used it literally once or twice on my old one.

Well personally speaking, I love my N3DS. I think it's a great size and I much prefer it's matte buttons over the slippery glossy ones of the N2DSXL

I just hacked my 3ds, but can't find anything to play that isn't Mario, Zelda, Pokemon etc. which I've already played. Any recommendations?

>start The Alliance Alive because of Tiggy
>turns out Viviana(sic) is best girl by miles
fuck
am i a furry now

pretty fantastic though, phenomenally comfy thus far
they definitely gave up trying to copy SaGa story-wise and it's for the better

>What are you playing?

Shin Megami Tensei IV

>What are you looking forward to?

Metroid: Samus Returns
