Should I shell out the money to get Kiwami or just get an ISO of Yakuza 1?

Y1 is clunky, but I think it still holds up. Y2 is amazing, and fixes the combat to Y1. You should play Y1 now, so you can play Y2.

people never mention that kiwami isn't a particularly great remake. Literally nothing has changed from yakuza 0, graphically or gameplay wise, apart from the addition of the majima everywhere suit, which means you have to fight majima something like 60+
times just to fully upgrade your dragon of dojima fighting style. Also, there's a bunch of terrible combat sections now since the yakuza 0 engine doesn't mesh well with yakuza 1 gameplay.

They probably would have real pissed off, since two of them are missing a pinky and Kiryu and Majima cause multiple people to cut theirs off over the course of the game.

the chief one being this thing where the bosses just start healing themselves unless you can perform a heat move to break them out of it

Word of advice, shift in a direction and then switch style since it transitions quicker.

People hate it because it was also made for PS3 and it shows.
It doesn't fix anything from the original, it ads stuff that weren't before, but to some, that is not enough to justify a purchase, I dunno, it was fun for me, but then again, I missed the first two.

Majima's Thug style is balling as fuck. Love the idle stance and his taunt. He's quite stylish in comparison to Kiryu's straight up brute force.

Kiwami is fine. Its just that everybody played 1 already, and then coming from 0, Kiwami just feels really fucking redundant. Because instead of improving like 2 or 0 did, Kiwami does nothing and thats why they implemented some stuff nobody cares about.

Its fine. If you haven't played 1, you can just wait for Kiwami because there's no reason to play the same game twice. One of them with outdated mechanics. But if you've played 1, then there's no reason to play Kiwami.

Still mad. Kiryu never loved again after her and just kept his distance with romance. Well, if you don't count the hostess stuff but those are usually one sided.

I really thought from chapter 1 that Y0 was gonna be the hardboiled Yakuza game I was waiting for but it just ended up being more Yokoyama melodrama. Not saying 2 is free of this, though but I wasn't cringing into oblivion, there except for the final part where everyone all of a sudden comes back and everyone's been backstabbing each other.

The best thing to do is to keep beating on them while they're regenerating to minimize their healing, and then using the special heat move at the very last moment for a good damage profit.
