Technically yes, it does get better. Post-game content becomes much more difficult, introducing tons of new enemies types and a new dungeon. Similarly, when you become powerful enough, you can delve into Bitterblack Island which most consider to be immensely better than the base game.
But that all requires many, many hours of playing to get to. For me personally, the second I threw a pot of water at an NPC and they fled out the door, then I grabbed hold of a Cyclops to stab its eye, I was hooked. If none of that shit got you, I doubt later stuff will.
>I'm 2 hours in and considering refunding
too late
Not really no. I played for about 30 hours before feeling bored as fuck and burnt out.
I really don't get the massive boner that Sup Forums has for this game.
When you finally face the dragon it makes the tedium up to that point worth it, the Griffon's a nice fight too.
What point are you up to?
Srider best class.
>ugh I just can't understand these people
These posts should result in a ban everytime.
Good combat mechanics, lots of character customization, fuck you difficulty spikes in post-game, goofy smaller mechanics (size of your character impacts some stuff, ability to throw your pawn, etc), and a story that gets super weird but interesting.
It's not for everyone. But it does have a lot of appeal for certain people. For me personally, being able to climb on monsters, throw bandits off cliffs, become a goddamn magical archer, and fight goddamn Death is pretty neato.
Get a refund, you don't deserve to play DD
Bad taste, OP.
Anyway
>POST YFW BLUEMOON TOWER FOR THE FIRST TIME
Fucking Griffon fight in a dark thunderstorm with that mage NPC you helped previously throwing down magic all of the arena, goddamn.
Then you find out you have to trek all the way back for the other story quest to get that dumb ring. Kinda sours the whole experience having to make the hike a second time.
THE WIND SURE IS PUSHING ME NOW
...
That NPC is my favorite dude just for that
>sees you chasing a griffon with a bunch of soldiers
>first thought is to follow behind and start waving his book around
>"yeah I saw you off in the distance arisen so I came to help"
And to think I thought he might be sketchy wanting a book of power.
pretentious fuck
If anything it actually gets worse once you learn just how retarded the mechanics really are.
Wasn't there a crustal up there? I'm sure your're given one and it's kinda a hint to drop it down.
But I might be wrong and haven't played in ages.
Overrated pile of shit.
This game is marmite/vegemite. You either love it or hate it. If you aren't enjoying yourself, refund it, it won't get more fun for you.
I forget exactly. I know there's one in Dark Arisen since they added a bunch of them. In the original game though the crystals were less prevalent. Even if there was one there though, I probably would've just seen it as a reward for defeating the Griffon, not a sign for me to use it in a dead-end dungeon used for one boss.
After the first time though, I always make sure to set one up at the entrance. I just remember the first time hearing that I had to hike all the way there just to hunt down the mage that kept dodging me like an asshole. Who you can't just kill the first time. He's invincible, it forces you to encounter him multiple times. Even the Griffon can be killed in the first encounter.
If you woke up in the village and didn't enjoy role playing your character this game probably isn't for you
>size of your character impacts some stuff
Fucking goblin tunnels man, content inaccessible if you're not playing a midget/child
Yeah, well, pretty sure ninety percent of Sup Forums made themselves lolis anyway.
I have never been in those things because I like playing as big guys. The fuck is in there?
Nothing.
Bullshit, there has to be something down there. What are you hiding?
Tanned average height Huntress is better, Loli is only for mage and bullying. No lewd outfits though.
Goblins
Goblins, a chest, and some mining nodes. Apparently it also gives pawns a knowledge star for the Shadow Fort, but I don't know for sure.
Oh okay, yeah I only played DA. And I get that. Now that I think about it I'm unsure if I placed it down either. I don't remember making the trek though.
I personally enjoyed the trekking in this game. Nice open world experience but tight and not overly empty and huge. Felt like I was just trekking over a little province.
Try Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning.
It have a better combat system, tons of good stories and a very rich lore.
That's disappointing, I don't even remember any other rabbit holes in the game.
It's the very definition of mediocre, to be honest. I wanted to like it, but it's all so obvious and the combat is fine but nothing special.
It feels like they didn't achieve what they wanted to do, or that it was changed in the middle of development or something.
Depends, I've spent more than 2 hours to unlock the advanced vocations. Casting huge ass spells as a sorcerer was fuck as fuck.
Yeah, it's underutilized. It does effect combat though. For example, I think your size influences how much you can carry, how fast you can run, how long you can run, how much you can pick up, how easily you're toppled by wind, and how easy it is for you to be grabbed/grab enemies (harpies especially, those fucks can pick you up and drop you if you're small).
>fuck as fuck
Sounds fucking radical.
>muh dick when my attack sent the enemy flying
Fuck me, this game is my jam.
>mfw I was 80+ hours in before realising that if you press both triggers together next to an enemy you hold them in a full nelson and your pawns can stabby them.
Wizards can't do it, but still. Cool little thing.
150+ hours and I never knew this.
Dragon's Dogma honestly sucks a big cock for the first few hours.
When you can start doing cool shit like cast meteors or roleplay as Voldemort it becomes GOAT.
Only thing stopping it from being the best game ever made is the retarded pawn system instead of decent multiplayer.
If it had been co-op it would have been a Dark Souls/Skyrim contender.
Is there a mod to make the character models not look like shit?
100+ here, didn't know
one question, are there any events with pawns? or are they just brain dead waifus, are they at least like Fallout companions.
can we talk about builds?
should I play assassin or ranger? I like archers and dick ass thieves
They're pretty good at breaking the monotony of just walking to places and they sometimes have some neat lore and wordbuilding they can dump on you
The problem is that once you've seen everything they start repeating themselves
Assasins are terrible at using bows
Assassin is probably the character I had the most fun with, but they're mainly just dagger skills. Good for climbing big enemies.
Magic Archer is broken as fuck in end game.
>Bought it on PS3
>Bought it on PC
>Going to buy it on PS4
Fuck you Monster Hunter World, why did you destroy my dream of DD2?
They're just lovable meme spouting idiots. Like the recurring thought/idea meme, not internet meme.
>play DDDA for the first time
>close the game
>tfw 10 hrs on record
Guess I liked it a lot. Playing as fighter, should I give Mystic Knight a try?
They don't have much in the way of conversation, but they're the smartest companion AI I've ever encountered. They learn from each other. I've had companions pick up injured allies and carry them to me to ress, leap on top of injured flying enemies to pin them to the ground, jump onto charging chimeras to shove them out of my path etc.
T'is a big tree arisen
t'is even bigger up close
I played Mystic Knight first time around. They're good tanks, but they're pretty slow and all their spells are just weapon enchants.
FRYING INTO FREEEEEE

What did Itsuno mean by this!? Dragon's Dogma 2 work-in-progress?
DmC 2
Alright, but how do I bang my pawn?
Wouldn't that be Tameem?
I'm still pissed that they're never going to release DD Online outside of Japan.
I'd love for either DD2 or DDO, either would do fine to be honest, just looking for more DD regardless.
>all their spells are just weapon enchants.
You are doing it wrong. MK is a literal disaster for everything that moves in this game. Even Magic Archer can't beat him in efficiency in dealing with lots of enemies at the same time.
DDO is trash and I hope they take zero inspiration from it if they ever make DD2
Yeah, but it's so much more dull to play. Just big sweeping weapon swipes.
Maybe I was using the wrong spells, but I remember spending like 2 hours fighting a Golem that I destroyed in 5 minutes with an assassin.
>2 hours fighting a Golem
That's a little too long. That should only ever happen if you leave the Sigil/Glowing Part on it's foot as the last one.
So i just started it as well, I have 17 hours so far.
>Beyond awful story
>Bland characters
>Borning world
>No dialogues whatsoever
>MMO quests
>Character editor is meh
>Small amount of armours, everyone looks this same.
>Pawns are fun but they all look alike due to previous two points
>Basically no mods
>Combat is ok i guess
>Only ONE save file, so i will have to erase my character and pawn if i want to start game again.
I don't like it so far. It's worse than Inquistion but with somewhat fun combat.
Probably not, I played this game up until a little bit after the "post game" and fought one of those beholder things and I just straight lost interest. The combat system is alright but everything is just too tanky and nothing feels like a major threat outside of doing big damage.
I really don't get why so many people here have a hard on for this game.
literally everything about the world is fucking boring. its a crying shame really, because i still enjoy it. BBI definitely feels better than the base game, but even so, they just reuse the same fucking rooms with different enemy placements, but fuck me the fights feel good in there
In last DD thread anons talked about some point of no return in Grand Soren. Where it is?
>Abyssal Anguish
>Ruinous Sigil
>Great Cannon
>Blessed Riposte
You can solo the entire game with this. As for Golem, Abyssal Anguish is enough, climb, hit, ded.
The over world is also big and empty, though the large roaming enemies in it and special undead enemies at night are really cool features. Really, the whole game feels almost good, it's annoying.
>2 hours and complaining
Its an arpg, you're not doing it right if you start complaining before the 8th hour. If you don't like it then, refund that shit.
Maybe after you retrieve your heart? Or after certain side quests? Point of No Return in regards to what part of the game?
As you unlock more skills, yeah. You can also switch between vocations easily at the game's main hub.
Some user said that in grand soren is point of no return and you can't complete quests from the beginning after it.
Why does my game keep going into windowed mode and then into fullscreen mode when i shift+tab it to chat with friends?
That's probably the witch girl, and maybe Quina's questline too. Once you slay the Hydra you get a quest to deliver the head to Gran Soren, that's when you should go back and do them otherwise they'll be lost forever. There's also slutty shopkeeper's quests, but I think you can still see her later on anyway.
Could be something else entirely though, as this is before Gran Soren.
yes there's a certain point in the main storyline that if you complete you won't be able to do outstanding escort quests.
It's pretty obvious though, when you fight grigs for real.
>harpy grabs me and drops me into a deadly pit
That's the case for several side quest. Once you finish certain mainquests, most of the sidequest from that part of the game are dropped if you didn't finish them. Check the wiki for details.
Now I can imagine the user you are refering to was talking about the witchwood distaster. If you do the main quest in the pawn guild in the main city before finishing the quest where you have to look after Quina in the witch wood you are locked out of an area later in the game (the deeper witchwood)
Yeah, to be fair it was my first Golem and I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing. It kept regenerating it's health because the fight kept running back into night time and it regenerated at night or some bullshit.
Literally took me 3 ingame days to kill it.
it gets worse.
Past the 2 hour refund window unless he sucks real good dick. He should just remove it from his library, he doesn't deserve his money back AND DD
not really, if anything, it gets worse
just another shitty game memed by the retards of this board, refund and move on
>Literally took me 3 ingame days to kill it.
Well you're nothing if not resilient.
>Good combat mechanics
nice meme
>take any random arpg in medieval setting
>add stamina bar so you can't block spam
>take away enemies ability to be countered and staggered
>add retarded and worthless climbing mechanic for big enemies
> "wow so deep combat amazing!"
it's fucking shit, honestly
>Does it get any better? I'm 2 hours in and considering refunding it if it doesn't pick up
early game is kind of a drag. if you're not enjoying yourself within an hour after reaching gran soren, then you will not like the game
Post your Arisen and main pawn
pls don't bully for toaster
Something's gone horribly wrong with your Arisen's hand there.
