Talk about pleb filters.

A better question is why did they redesign it for the west? Why purple?

We are talking about the country who couldn't tell the difference between a Wii and a Wii U.

>vaporwave aesthetic
What does that even mean?
Also this is a topic

I like the purple design

It doesn't make sense because I've always heard that story that Nintendo designed and branded the american NES as well, an electronic device that entertains you instead of a "video game" system. Of course I've never bought that. All video game consoles looked like standard shelf electronics except for the top loading. Everyone knew it was still a video game system and did nothing else. But that's hindsight.

But still, why purple? Adults played the NES, the SNES looks like a toy in comparison and nintendo marketed harder to children. Seems like they shrank their audience and video games became an activity for children for decades.

US design look more modern.
JPN design look like old computer stuff
I like both to be honest.

Do you live under a rock or something

The real question is.
Why did they redesign the SNES only for US Markets, when they redesigned the NES for EU and US Markets?

Vaporwave aesthetic usually features classic 80s-90s tech, which closer resembles to the Japanese style than the US style.

JPN Console > NA Console
NA Controller > JPN Controller

Don't tell me the cable would be that short?

I love my WiiU but that was every country

>Sup Forums "memes"

>purple

I'm 25. This is the first time I see anyone saying that the buttons and switches are purple. I'm colorblind, it is blue to me.

>mfw

of course it will don't you want headaches while you play a game?

holy shit

Don't worry americuck, you won't have either :^)

>it is blue to me.
I know right
I'm pretty sure purple is just a conspiracy and doesn't really exist

>Why did they redesign the SNES only for US Markets
Region locking.

>Why did they redesign the SNES only for US Markets
The redesigner said the other designs looked too soft,"like a loaf of bread."

With plastic.

>vaporwave aesthetic

Times the E/J regions were right:
>SNES
>Sonic CD

Times the U region was right:

The US got the best version of the Ikaruga GC cover, even with the stupid quote

>Ikaruga
I don't understand why people like it.

I think the color matters less, in the factor they marketed it as a full machine.
The super famicon had a lot of plugins and even had low tier streaming service. There's a Zelda game that was distributed on parts live. There was a strict window in which you could actually play those games. As well the return and wipe disk that allowed you to use carts to change games. And finally the additional plugins. The SNES that everyone knows didn't have that stuff. It was pretty much a complete box upon purchase the only adapter plug for it was the gameboy adapter cart.
The super famicon had a lot of features that weren't with the SNES, because the western areas didn't have the same infrastructure.

They increased every difficulty level by one (medium was renamed easy, hard was renamed medium, etc.) in the US release because they felt ... Americans were more hardcore gamers than Japs?

i prefer the american console with the european controller the colors are nicer the the purple

But user. You get to see an extremely rare blue super nintendo only colorblind faggots can see

It's a shit consolation prize, but be thankful you aren't one of the people who get to see a black super nintendo

>UK got the shitty japanese design
is this the only time the japs got the worse version?

>What does that even mean?
It's pure kino

...

>vaporwave aesthetic

Purple is a Christian color associated with Christmas. Makes a lot of sense to do it like this.

They might as well have marketed it as NinJesus or Christendo but they probably realized Jews hate Jesus and so toned it down to only having the color.

Well, what does that mean?

K I N O S T H E T I C

There a rumor that it was redesigned for the USA to stop fat assed American kids putting their coke cans on top. Nintendo were fucking sick of the amount of ruined NES systems sent back due to drink spillage.

There's also the mindset that America would only buy something which looked 'badass' because, you know, they're fucking morons.

The truth is probably somewhere in between.

my god lol the Jap and UK got some shit that looks like an old tape player I would go jogging with.Wow for once the american version is the shit.

SPEAK ENGLISH

It looks blue to me. Either I'm being rused or I somehow lived 25 years without knowing I'm colorblind.

I think he means kinesthetic

You're just making up words

It's possible that you didn't realize.
I only found out when I was 18 or 17 by playing a game on a friend's cellphone.
There are many ranges of colorblindness. I actually can see purple, but only stronger shades of it. That one is not one of them.

There's only a hint of purple to begin with. It's much closer to blue than it is to purple

W O R D S T H E T I C

its a darker shade of purple not blue at all. I think you might be color blind.

Then I guess I do have a.. small sort of colorblindness? It's kinda mindblowing that I'm only now discovering it honestly.

Just my opinion but US snes looks awful. I just don't understand the need to change the classic design for the united states citizens

The Super Famicom and SNES are both really nice looking.

user, I...

Americans are insecure and colors and happiness made them upset
Have you seen modern hollywood films? all grey and blue

You can make a test online, Ishihara test.

>I just don't understand the need to change the classic design for the united states citizens

See

That explains a lot about why the N64 was shaped the way it was.

I think after the NES they were just deadset on the idea of redesigning their console for the West, without any real rhyme or reason. Clearly they realized how pointless it was.

I honestly can't remember what the real SNES looked like anymore, and pictures on the internet are telling at least 2 different stories

The left is obviously purple, but the right is much bluer

I am not color blind. I have tested myself to have 100% color vision: colormunki.com/game/huetest_kiosk

It's just hard to tell violet and violet-ish blue. Don't worry that any of you are colorblind.

The big image is the color it's supposed to be. The camera put too much blue on the other pic the OP used.

Seems like he is, kinesthetic is a real word though.

I have clinical confirmation of my disability.

>Times the U region was right:
Angry Kirby
ICO cover

am i the only one who likes the grey and purple

Purple is very difficult for cameras to photograph accurately. At least in my experience

For some reason I remember it being more blue though. Though I also remembered it being Berenstein Bears

Yes

Ah okay.

But the ones that see it black don't see anything at all.

>Europe is not the west
Apparently the original design was to colorful and looks too kiddie for Americans.
Just like how Kirby get angry eyebrows and this years e3 had those gritty boxers to promote the colorful game arms (pic related).

>the US is that edgy kid in the class

apparently it's not very purple

Looks violet-blue because of the specific camera used.
