It's pronounced headless
even in Last Mission they call him like that. Tidas fags BTFO
Is there a reason why they never mention his name in the original game?
...
Because you're allowed to name him whatever you want. To keep the immersion, since you could theoretically call him Mr Drum Machine, they just don't have anyone call him by name.
They maintain this through X-2 as well, even though you don't actually play as Tidus there. Pronunciation was revealed in Dissidia 012.
you can name the protagonist like you want
Ti-ddes
Tee-doos
>ywn be a Final Fantasy protagonist with your choice of any number of 10/10 qt3.14s who want to jump on your dick
Feels real bad man
...
Question. How did you guys assume that his name is pronounced as "Tai-dus" when playing the game with zero knowledge?
They said it as Teedus in Kingdom Hearts too, albeit for one line by Wakka.
Maybe people assumed it would rhyme with tide.

Desktop thread.
It was sort of carrying on the theme of naming the mc after weather or natural phenomena. Cloud, Squall, Tide-us. The promo stuff for X made it look very much like a sub-tropical setting with lots of water everywhere. It was a natural assumption.
And then in Kingdom Hearts II, Selphie fucks it up again by saying Tide-Us
>Tidus looks similar to the word tide
>So Tie-dus then
>Tide-Us
thats how I've always done it
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Seems pretty intuitive to me if you're anglophone, I doubt most people really thought about it
If you've heard shit like "titan", "tide/tidal" etc pronounced that's just where your brain will automatically go
>Pronunciation was revealed in Dissidia 012.
No it wasn't. It was revealed on the DVD released with the original PS2 release.
It's pronounced "Tedious." It fits his character more.
but the voice actor said Tee-dus in the interview of the game
youtube.com
>voice actor gets to decide
>voice actor doesn't know how to pronouce the name of his character
>voice actor doesn't get told how to pronounce his character's name
Use your fucking brain.
titees
just blame it on wakka's accent
Tight-ass
its literally the same as titus
Tai-djus
>Kingdom Hearts can't even handle name pronunciation, let alone its overly convoluted plot
kek
well the nigger doesnt know how to laugh either. "AH HA HA HA HA" what is he a fucking robot?
I used to pronounce Tifa like Tih-Fah until I learned it was Tee Fah
I dislike this meme.
It's literally a forced laugh, so yes, it sounds forced.
see
When I heard this I thought it was the dumbest thing. For years I pronounced it "tye-duhs," and still do.

What's the best way to play FFX/X-2?
I'd really prefer to avoid the remaster but it does have all that sweet extra content that was originally in the INT version
Of course there's the problem of the horrible, horrible faces too.
I was thinking about emulating on pcsx2 and upscaling but that doesn't do much for the textures.
And then there's the problem of finding a version with an English patch.
Any recommendations?
the international version is available in english
You don't need a translation pathc, the EU version of X is the International version. I'd reccomend emulating X and playing X-2 in HD remaster, though at that point you may be better off just playing X HD too.
Oh, sweet. So I can emulate both INT versions in English.
Any nude mods? That'd be sweet
nexusmods.com
Is the only thing I could find on the nexus, not sure if there's anywhere else that hosts X/X-2 tex mods.
just don't play X-2 it's not good
Gotta
It's like vidya stockholm syndrome
Disregard this faggot , X-2 has the best combat/class system in the entire FF series, the story is a bit hit or miss, but the gameplay is top notch.
>X-2 has the best combat/class system in the entire FF series
Sorry buddy but I gotta go with Tactics on that one
>for the Remaster
Bollocks
It's like trying to assemble all the different pieces to get it just the way I want it.
Is there a mod for the PC version of FFX that restores the PS2 models?
X-2's remaster is fine and definitely worth playing over the PS2 version, X's is the one that's shit.
It rapes the whole story and the point of X and all the shitty characters don't really make the game shine. You have your 3 MC's and that's it.
And that combat system is hit or miss. For me and many others it's the worst system in the entire FF series so don't praise it like it saved final fantasy.
No, Untitled project X only allows texture replacements, the problem with X is models and facial animations, those are very difficult to change.
Can you emulate the X-2 remaster?
No it's PS3/4/PC only.
>For me and many others it's the worst system in the entire FF series
Sorry you have such a terminal case of shit taste, beats the system in X by a fucking mile, every action counting and changing classes on the go is always great.
EU version runs like ass because it's an EU version, JPN international has a toggle for english text in the options.
I thought there was a PS3 emulator now
Or is that still being bug tested?
Why would you emulate something that's already on pc? Are you retarded?
ティー
TEE (TI-)
ティーダ
TIDUS (TIDA)
TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDUS
So why not just download the PC version?
Yeah everyone sayiing that the combat is worse is objectively wrong, and it didn't rape the story at all, it was just bland and it wasn't a good visualization of what everyone expected to happen after the ending of X
I never said not to. I said emulate X international and play the X-2 HD remaster.
I started the game again recently. I didn't go very far the first time.
I'm at the first Blitzball match and fuuuuck I forgot what a pain it was.
The best I can do is just passing the ball around and hoping I don't lose, right?
If you didn't get the Jecht Shot on board the ship then you're kinda screwed
JYT explains it in one of his videos. When doing a trailer to reveal the game in Japan, they wanted to have an Enlish narrator. So at the last minute they grabbed a random translator living in Japan and were like "Hey just translate this trailer for one of the most anticipated games at the time no sweat." Naturally there would be sweat, but anyway he says that translator decided to pronounce his name as Tee-dus to mirror the Japanese almost exactly (pronounced Tee-da, apparently referring to the sun in Japanese, similar to Yuna with the moon), most likely in my opinion because of not wanting to fuck up but still wanting to look like he did work. He closes the video with saying that really the right pronunciation is in the mouth of the beholder.
But when you actually think about it, Tide-us makes far more sense and fits better in just about every way. Without dramatically changing the name, it gains the elemental factor shared by many series protags (in a much bigger way than just sun), water is a hugely important aspect in the plot and design of the game as opposed to the only celestial connection being the final weapons, and it even keeps the connection between Tidus and Yuna intact, or even improves it as the tide is directly influenced by the moon. Of course you might say Yuna's name would need changed then but it is already almost identical to Luna, and hell, they're both from entirely different worlds and backgrounds, so it plays into that.
tl:dr Tee-dus came from a rushjob with no consideration for how it works with the game and language. Tide-us works better if you think about it and they both always want to and should be doing so.
It's possible to win, you gotta try and get an early lead before you swap Wakka in and then just play safe until it times out, it's pretty much impossible to score without Jecht Shot.
Yeah I have it. I might be doing something wrong, but I think it's only available during the second half.
By the way, the fact that half-time can happen in the middle of a shot is really infuriating. Pretty sure that was about to score, too.
You only get to equip it for the second half, so you just have to swim fast and make those shots count. You don't have to win though, but the trophy is sweet.
Your best best is to play keepaway the first half
Just keep passing nonstop to gain XP for the team and don't give the Goers a chance to get their hands on it
Second half, quip the Jecht shot, you've got 3 minutes to score with it. Set defence to all-right if the Goers intercept
When the changeover happens, keepaway again
Alternatively, hide behind your goalie and the opposing AI will just retreat
It's a weird glitch they never fixed
Thanks buds, I'll give a try later with those tips.
It's criminal there aren't any nude mods for X/X-2
