Was thinking of getting this on Steam sale. Maybe the second one too. But wanted opinion if its garbage or not
Was thinking of getting this on Steam sale. Maybe the second one too. But wanted opinion if its garbage or not
it gets pretty good after like 4 hours (and it's like a 22 hour game + 3 hours of the dlcs)
I liked it, but if you're autistic about 'muh castalvenia', you probably won't.
First one is an alright god of war clone
never played the second one but I heard it's garbage with stuff like forced stealth sections
I loved the first one and the mirror of fate but the second one only gets a ok from me. It doesn't live up to the first thanks to the stealth bullshit but i still found it enjoyable besides that
first one was entertaining. No idea about the second one
Really loved it.
First one is good.
Second one not so much.
It's good GOW wannabe. Actually it's better than GOW in many aspects. I liked both games and I found Carmilla very attractive.
The game is surprisingly long and hard(heh) if you're doing all the challenges.
It's THE worst 3d Castlevania. If we count the Pachinko games as a 3d Castlevania it is STILL the worst 3d castlevania. Even if we include the minecraftvania game it is still the worst. Don't buy it.
So general consensus is just stick with the first?
Don't. Fucking don't do this.
The first game is good, not great. I loved the presentation but is one of those games that start to get old after a while and it refuses to end. Is really long but it does not introduce a whole lot of new to keep playthrough interesting and fun.
it's a good game, people hate it because it's not a castlevania, so as loong as you asperg about that it's a good mix betwen GoW and prince of persia.
the series went downhill really fast afterwards, so ignore the other 2
Played a bit of the first one, it was decent but nothing special.
The troll boss had a nice look.
>It's THE worst 3d Castlevania.
You played Castlevania 64?
Also has the worst OST in all of the series
If you weren't a casual underage faggot you would realize 64 is a great game.
>It's THE worst 3d Castlevania.
Nah this was.
Puzzle and mini games are all fucking stupid. Like the one where you have to play a fucking chess game for a boss fight.
Pachinko machines are more Castlevania than this piece of shit.
No, you just have nostalgia.
You never even played it, so fuck off.
Not that guy. I played 64 for the first time like a year ago and had a pretty good time. It's a very good game.
Decent GOW clone with fairytale setpieces. Well worth a playthrough.
>LOS
>worst ost of the series
Are you high son ?
LOS is probably my favourite PS3 title and I'm also a big Castlevania fan. I love everything about this game. It feels like a great adventure, it's fun, emotional, it looks pretty good too.
The sequel here was terrible. They replaced the cool Reinhardt and witch loli with a faggy ass werewolf and lame attacks.
The 64 games were the only true 3D games. They weren't linear corridor games. If you say they suck it's because you are bad at video games. They have such a perfect style to them.

Castlevania 64 sucks.
Nope, C64 is shit.
That's what the PAL version of Legacy of Darkness looks like? We Americans were stuck with this cheap looking shit.
played it for like 10 hours before dropping it
There is literally NOTHING Castlevania about the game, nor in the gameplay, neither in the visuals/audio/atmosphere of the game.
For visuals it has the most generic and uninspired western video game fantasy artstyle one can imagine. For gameplay it's literally 1:1 God of War just without any of the creativity and the platforming was always just some horrible qte fest instead of actual platforming.
Tried the second game too. For visuals/atmosphere and story it feels way more like Castlevania, the gameplay seemed pretty much the same tho tho many of the first games problems were fixed. Didn't played it more than 6 hours so I have zero fucking idea why was it so critically panned when it seemed clearly superior to the first game in every single way.
Castlevania 64 was the Lord of Darkness of its time. It took the series into this western realistic garbage mood. This is the REAL best 3d Castlevania.
Too bad it's so ugly
This game is fucking slow an boring. So many fucking empty rooms.
With Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness they took Symphony style and literally put it into 3D. That's why there are so many empty rooms and long hallways.
It's a basic character action game that tries to rip off as much shit as possible like God of War and Shadow of the Colossus and has an obnoxious amount of QTEs, cinematics and context sensitive shit.
All the Castlevania-stuff in it feels like someone read up the TV Tropes page of the franchise and namedropped a bunch of things.
There's no other way how someone would make references to Cornell or Wygol Village.
I love LOS, I don't care if it's not like classic castlevanias and I think Gabriel is a more likable and interesting protagonist than most of the other Castlevania protags and i think that the game doesn't deserve the autistic hate it gets.
Second one is only worth it if you want to see a glorious, incoherent trainwreck with plotholes and logic errors behind every corner.
It's the best 3D vania
By far
I think it was fun
I did. It was actually ok
Not only the worst Castlevania of all time, this piece of dog crap is also the worst game of all time..this barely playable turd has nothing to do with Castlevania..konami decided pretty late during the development to give it the castlevania brand
I thought it was total shite. Don't care for God of War either though.
What's different between that and the original?
>It's the best 3D vania
No. The character design says it all.
it looked good in the artwork. WTF happened?
Baiting this hard...
>konami decided pretty late during the development to give it the castlevania
I still remember how I wanted LoS to be another 3dvania.
Oh boy I got monkey pawed.
It's a semi-competent God of War clone. Don't go in expecting anything Castlevania-y, thoough.
Its good, but I found in boring in the long run
The soundtrack for the series is excellent. I'm talking orchestral eargasm here

With regards to the first game, the puzzles are well-designed, not too casual but not too nippon. The combat is a blatant GoW rip-off but well done. The structure is very disconnected with VO's announcing the setting at the beginning of each chapter. Graphics are great with vistas looking top-notch. Lore's fun to read but very little connection with the series as a whole. Bosses are a SotC rip-off but also well done.
The Castle itself is easily the best part of the game. Staking vampires left and right with the combat cross is kickass.
MoF is a very ordinary 2.5 Metroidvania. Boss Rush mode is surprisingly fun but aside from that, there's not much remarkable. A few nods to series staples but that's about it.
Nothing to hate but nothing to love. It's kind of just.....there. Developed by Mercury's B team so that tells you most of the story.
LoS2 improves in a lot of areas - combat is more varied and there's a mastery system that encourages experimentation. Soundtrack is still excellent but you have to hang around a few areas to get the most out of it.
Again, Castle sections are fantastic - well designed, atmospheric, lots of exploration and secrets with great set pieces.
However, it also shits the bed very, very hard. Story is a complete and utter clusterfuck in the 3rd act with entire arcs just being abandoned. No resolution to established plot points. The fight withDeath is easily the high point and after that it all goes to shit.
Also, arbitrary challenge mode is very arbitrary.
So, yeah, definitely a mixed bunch. I'd recommend the series but you have to be prepared to take bad with good.
First one is great, a good re-imagining of how Castlevania would be. MoF is pretty good too.
Avoid LoS 2 at all cost.
The first one is one of my favorite games of all time.
Mirrors of Fate is pretty and very atmospheric but thats about it.
LoS2 is the biggest dropped ball ive ever played but i still had fun.
>Scottish Dracula
It's Castlevania: Other D
I..........uh........fuck, that's actually quite apt
Do you really want to bring up designs from castlevania games? They been retarded shit for years.
how to spot a faggot that only played the weebshit gba games
I beat these and hardly remember a damn thing about them. I remember the Chupacabra and the stupid puppet/carnival part of the castle...and that's it.
That design is worlds better than anything in Judgement.
>how to spot a faggot that only played the weebshit gba games
you mean like every fucking Castlevania expect this generic God of War clone?
New areas and characters for LoD.
Castlevania 64 has the GOAT Press Start screen song, by the way.
I don't remember generic "epic" orchestral music that sounds like it's from a Lord of the Rings movie in the classic strut and whip games, I don't recall fighting boring skinny lycans that belong in twilight in the original castlevania games, I don't remember having to jump on a magical talking flaming horse and ride through a boring auto scroller segment in any of the castlevania games.
The thing is Soma is just a teenager with powers. He is not a professional vampire hunter.
1 is okay if you take it lightly and assume it's more of a Classicvania than an IGAvania.
The rest are garbage to be frank. You should see about getting just number 1 and watching the cutscenes of the other games on youtube.
It's garbage.
>it's more of a Classicvania
NO. Fucking hell mate how is that even close to a classicvania? Zelda is more close to a Classicvania than this. Lament of innocence is more close to a classicvania than this. LoS is shit.
>I don't recall fighting boring skinny lycans that belong in twilight in the original castlevania games
Skinnier. The ones in LoS are fucking toothpicks
>Posting Music
> to prove the GAME is good
First is OK. Far too long winded.
Second one is an absolute abomination.
