None I can think of. It was all pretty easy.

ttc 100s with a moving clock

Getting 100 coins in Tick Tock Clock can be annoying, considering the weird hit detection in some parts of the level.

What is the worst level in the game?
Snowman's Land?

Rainbow Ride in general

As a kid I had no idea how to get the snowman lost his head one.

100 coin star in Tiny Huge Island. Fuck everything about that world, every upper floor map except the one with the giant snowman is just gimmick city.

Wet Dry Land

Watch for Rolling Rocks but I felt like doing it in a certain way

Oh please. Everyone know there's no such thing as half an a press. It's a myth, dummy.

It definitely is a 100 coin star.
Because coins don't render unless you are close so plenty of them are shit. I think I remember the Lava level one being annoying because coins could vanish easily and once you jumped into the volcano you couldn't get back to the rest of the level.

Jolly Roger Bay isn't much fun.

I NEVER EVER realized you had to beat the sliding stage inside Peach's window under 20 seconds.

That was the only star left for me when I was 6

It's a fun level to fool around in but it's true that it's the "other" snow level.

Dire, Dire Docks is my least favorite.

The mushroom mountain. Just for the repetitiveness of the stars.

Can The Eel Come Out To Play?

It's one of the only stars I struggle with.

Because the hitbox is completely fucked.

"Mario Takes Wing" on BobOmb Battlefield without any A Presses.

This star always takes me a couple tries. The rematch of Koopa the Quick is easy to mess up too. Tick Tock Clock stars can be tricky on the wrong speed. Other than that there aren't really any hard stars in the game, just tedious ones.

that level is so cool, but sooooooooooo long and boring.

Completed this recently, TTC is defiantly the hardest level for me

Dunno about "worst" but I can think of a few annoying ones

1) 100 coins in Dire Dire Docks
2) going through the gas maze in Hazy Maze Cave
3) the flying cap star in the room opposite Rainbow Ride
4) Shifting Sand Land in general wasn't super fun
5) one of the volcano stars in Lethal Lava Land is a bitch to get to compared to the other one
6) having to get to the top of Tall Tall Mountain three or four times for a star each trip

...

What about hack stars?
>literally the entirety of Dusky Doomed Dale, especially the VERY FIRST FUCKING STAR
Why did Kaze think a mirror fight would even be a good idea

Mario 64 hacks aren't that fun.
Even Star Road is really boring and gets annoying after a while.

ditto

Getting the star off the eel's tail. I was so terrified of that eel, it was the last star I got.

I remember being scared of the eel when i was young. Also the Dinosaur in HMC for some werid reason

>What about hack stars?
Every star that involves traversing a poorly made level with a bunch of shitty tiny steps and "naturally" shaped platforms at awkward angles via multiple long jumps while struggling with the camera.

So like 90% of 64 ROMhacks.

Fucking this

Both Jolly Roger Bay and Dire Dire Docks levels are boring, but that's because Underwater levels are a slog no matter what.
Lethal Lava Land is also pretty meh.

I actually agree. While Last Impact and Star Road are amazing on a technical and creative level their actual gameplay and level design ranges from pretty good to terrible
The star I was mentioning is basically a worse version of this: there's a miniboss you fight in a big cave that you can only see in a mirror, but you have to fight a bunch of shit beforehand to even fight him.
Oh and the mod creator decided to lessen the health total from 8 to 6 for some reason and everything does about two damage so you can understand why this makes me angry
youtube.com/watch?v=jkpVpPjRKAE

I could never get that fucker to leave the ship. I'd swim in front of him, dangle in the water, get hit by him, and scramble to the distant surface to get air. It felt like blind luck if he felt like leaving.

...

100 coin star in Tiny Huge Island
I really hate that level in general
mind you I didn't know you could get blue coins from the big goombas until much later

>20 seconds in and the camera is shitting the bed
>shitty Boo recolors
>Undertale music for no reason
>music arrangement in the soundfont sounds like shit
Kaze is a hack

Anything from Rainbow Ride in general just sucks.

cool thread bro, looking forward to reading it on Buzzfeed tomorrow ;')

>Megalovania
I am so sick of this song being shoved into everything.

>there's a miniboss you fight in a big cave that you can only see in a mirror
But SM64 DS did this and it wasn't remotely difficult.

Leave to that fanbase to even ruin the music.

not him but that's because there was a visible shadow and sometimes he would even appear on your side

>hard
>can be completed in 0.5 A presses

Now that I stop and think on it, that level did kind of suck shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=MUzXqWEyv7M
Holy shit, all these boss fights look so bad and have such unfitting music

Is that the fucking level where if you fall through the map you end up back in front of the castle?
If so, fuck that level to death.

I'm more disgusted that song is so popular despite being a ripoff of a better one.

no you're thinking of the secret star course that's on the other side of the room where Rainbow Ride is
I can understand why you would confuse the two though, they use the same visual theme/music

No, that's the wing cap one this guy posted

That's right. One of them was my 120 star when I was a little shit and I vividly remember being so fucking annoyed every time I fucked it up and had to run all the way back.

how did they fuck up the castle roof so hard in SM64DS? I get that they couldn't do the yoshi thing but they could have had the message from the devs and the sparkly triple jump. they didn't even give you 99 lives. how shit do you have to be to do something like that?

Anything in the volcano in the lava stage.
The camera hasn't aged well one bit

LET'S DO IT

*Banshee scream*

I never played Super Mario Sunshine. Should I?

>play it
>can't get past the second Petey Piranha fight

this game is actually garbage.

yes
when it comes time to do the blue coins give it your best shot but be prepared to use a guide
if you aren't going for 100% then just ignore the blue coins, sunshine doesn't progress based on number of stars (or shines) like 64 does

Of course.

Dire Dire Docks 100 coin star

that one where you fly between pillars in the sky

or the top of the level in rainbow cruise

rest are great

>Only 104 coins in the whole level
>Miss one blue coin
Literally impossible to get 100 coin star

>mfw Undertale starts playing
What and why

Mario 64 is one of a few games that I pretty much instantly want to pick up and play again every time I see a thread or a video about it. Anyone else feel like that?

What's it a ripoff of?

youtube.com/watch?v=1kOEQDvLzfc
Don't read the comments

lets do it

blehblehbleh

yeah I feel the same way user
then I remember all THOSE parts
still love the game though

I think you have to swim down to him and then go to the cavern in the back, once you come back he should be out

youtu.be/p1Nmc84Noos

Anything in Dire Dire Docks. The stars aren't hard to get but the entire level is just boring shit so it makes the stars a slog. Also, I found the ghost house hard as a kid.

All the blue coins are right next to each other though.

Rainbow Road

It's decent but not great.

It's shit. It's basically Super Mario 64 without the level variety and with a greater focus on gimmicks and filler

Here is your precious (You)

None. They are all fantastic and Tick Tock Clock and _____Rainbow Ride_____ are the best.

unrelated but goddamn the SNES soundchip is like sex

Dire Dire Docks

>lol enjoy swimming through this long boring passage between the whirlpool area and submarine area for 5 of the stars.

100 coin star in Tick Tock Clock or Rainbow Ride. Winged Mario over the Rainbow is also just really annoying not hard just annoying.

LET'S DO IT

100 coin stars debatably.

I dropped this game when I finished DDS. Just didn't find it fun anymore. (got roughly 80 stars and was like, fuck this)
I had more fun with 3D World to be honest.

Lethal Lava Land. It's literally a flat lava canvas but with random platforms and obstacles scattered around. There's no cohesive theme besides the lava, and it looks like something an 8 year old made with a level editor, or like an early beta/testing level.

>he doesn't like gliding around the whole level on the shell

>dds
what
Did you mean dire dire docks?

>current year
>not having a youtube comment blocker
man u is stupd

>Shifting Sand Land in general wasn't super fun

This
How the hell were you supposed to know you can run up the pillars?

Well one of the missions is called Stand Tall on the Four Pillars.

I always dread the 100 coin one in Hazy Maze since I'm fucked if I don't get all the blue coins in time.

Even if you somehow never figured that out by accident, the stage has both wing caps and a shell.

100 coins in TTC. There's only like 105 total in the level, and if some of them fall off the edge/disappear after killing an enemy, you literally can't win and have to reset

2.5 you fucking retard

There's more than that in TTC. Dire Dire Docks has a whopping 103 total you have to collect with the swimming controls and navigating around the vortex

I agree 100%
youtube.com/watch?v=RW3bsU_9rwY

The theme is don't get burned, or even just the lava in general.

>bully enemies that don't directly do damage but push you into lava
>puzzle piece section where the panels jet out from underneath you to the lava below
>platforms that sink into/rise out of the lava
>a basic twisting path meant to punish poor analog stick adjustment with lava/bouncing fire enemies
>rolling log over lava. fuck up and fall in
>moving grate platforms over both lava and fire hazards
>fire turret against rotating platforms
>wing cap and surfing shell upgrades for those brave/observant enough to seek them
>inner volcano where a missed jump doesn't kill you, but likely lands you onto the central lava below

It's easy to just give the stage a glance and say "what the fuck is this scattered shit" but it actually does have a pretty consistent approach to it.

The thing that fucks me up with last impact is that the music they remixed is for the most part pretty terrible sounding with some decent ones, but all the custom music sounds great
