My main is a low tier and every time I fight a Cloud and it comes down to a last hit situation where he beats me with his last stock on like 120% I basically just count I as a psuedo win because his character is so much better and easier than mine is.

I know it isn't a healthy competitive mindset but you can't deny it doesnt have some truth to it.

If anything it's his rock smash that's too good IMO. And in customs it can be a burying/spiking headbutt.

Does anyone here main "top-tier" characters? Every one of these threads has people repping low-tiers, low-tier pride, etc. but I never see anyone who actually mains Cloud.

Highest I've gone is Zero Suit, occasionally tried Shiek, Bayo and Rosy but aren't my mains.

Played Cloud plenty when he came out, but I felt too cheap using him. Almost worst than Sonic spindash-spammers or Link/Robin zoners.

I usually pull out Fox when i want to win which would be considered a main I imagine.

Then if I don't win with Fox I cycle through Ryu, DK, G&W, Yoshi, Falcon, Ike, and Wario in that order.

I used to main snake, back when that was a thing. He had the best projectile game, bar none. Grenades had game-breaking versatility.

He has nonexistent options? I mean he's just Falcon but slower, all he does is d-tilt, jab, or flamechoke. Just because he's garbage doesn't mean he's difficult to play.

tfw melee player and never experienced the trauma of facing a Cloud.

I genuinely used to try to play Diddy Kong, Mario, and Meta Knight, and Cloud at certain points of the games life cycle. None of them had any staying power to me. No matter how much I like them as characters and even though I know they are all very good in Smash, I just don't enjoy them. They aren't fun for me to use. Even when I enter tournaments that I pay to get into I'd rather play Roy and Olimar.

I wish it wasn't the case because before Brawl Diddy was my number 1 wanted character in smash and one of my favorite Nintendo characters. I've loved Cloud and FF7 all my life too. I even have a life sized metal buster sword. They just aren't fun to play in smash.

Especially Cloud. Honestly I really dislike Cloud in smash. He's just not fun, he's too campy, too boring, and has too passive aggressiveness of a moveset. I wish his neutral b in the air was Meteorain and I wish maybe one of his tilts and one of his aerials used some material magic instead. And where the fuck is his English voice actor?

Because he has stupidly huge disjoint, good frame data, very little to no lag, good combos, insane knockback, one of the best mobility on the ground and in the air when his limit is charged, a decent projectile, and a limit he can charge on all his specials, forcing zoners to come at him while he has already all the tools to deal with cqc characters.

But the most infuriating part is that he has an extremely low skill cap. About any below average player can take Cloud and be very dangerous. Also, like almost all the DLC characters he completely shuts down A LOT of mid to high tier characters.

But for some reason, he is extremely "one sided" in the sense that he can only be played in one way. And I tend to think that because of his lack of versatility he also has a relatively low skill ceiling compared to the other top tiers like Diddy, Mario, Sheik, Rosa or even ZSS.

Have you tried getting gud?

I play shamelessly Ryu and Bayonetta.

Everyone in that list is perfectly viable though perhaps besides Wario and maybe Ike none of them are below high tier.

I still use Ike instead of Cloud.

It's mostly a feeling thing. I don't take any pleasure with Cloud, he's too quick for his power. It doesn't translate well visually I think. Powerful moves must have some kind of lag or "charge" effect so you can really feel the hit. When you read a roll and punish it with a Fsmash with Ike, you just feel like the king of the world man.

And I think that if you're careful not getting gimped by that stupid Nair, the matchup is not that bad for Ike.

I'm just happy Lucas came back ant these two are better then ever. I don't ever want a new smash without the both of them.

Wario is definitely a high tier character since Brawl. He was a bit nerfed with his new Fsmash and the lack of DACUS in Smash 4, but he's still extremely strong. and now he's not fucked by grab release anymore
