HK has a deeper combat and slightly less acrobatics, but an absolutely killer story, atmosphere, and world. I honestly can't promote it enough. First game in a long time I bought after pirating.

hmm. Thinking about it, the acrobatics was my favorite part. I loved flipping around and dashing through the enemies and triple jumping

I meant more of the bouncing off projectiles platforming parts. There's walljumps, dashes, double jumps, all kinds of cool shit in HK. It's more like Metroid in that you have to progress to get them unlocked, but it just meshes so well.

I always assumed that the drop from Dirtmouth to the Crossroads was quite substantial and they were relatively safe, hence why Sly had to go down into Crossroads to get high off Radiant Fumes.

In-game dialogue hints that Hollow Knights leave the Kingdom right after birth if they aren't "chosen" and get amnesia, but "something" calls them back. More importantly, the "Hero" hollow knights are "called" specifically to either stop the spread of the infection, become the new vessel, or outright destroy the source. If a hero hollow knight dies, another gets called to replace it. It is not stated anywhere, but if you think about it, the best "good" ending means that hollow knights are not needed anymore, and the Abyss is put on sleep mode until someone else like the King wakes them up. The living hollow knights have no purpose anymore, and no more new ones will be made, at least not in the immediate future.

there's still crazy good platforming: wall jumps, mid-air and double jumps, air-dashes and shinespark-esque super dashes. There's even a crazy hard platforming segment needed for the best ending to put all of these techniques to use all in coordination with each other
