I've defended SFV for a while, but one word I'll never call it is "Good". The best I can give it is a "Eh, it's better than anything NRS has ever made". Still, even if people hate it more than it deserves, that doesn't make it good.

If this board is any indication, don't count on that anytime soon. Half this board seems to be completely apathetic to the bullshit that Western games are inserting and Japanese games are periodically forced to endure in the west. As soon as you bring something like that up, people will jump right down your throat with "nobody gives a shit", "I hate censorshits", or my favorite, "NOT FUCKING VIDEOGAMES". If you're lucky enough, you'll even get your thread deleted by mods, even if the bullshit directly affects the content of the video game (see the Last Night incident at e3).

Honest question, but what do people who hate "weebshit" actually play? The only games that the West makes that are worth a damn nowadays are Grand Strategy and 4x's, not counting indie games, and even then most indie games are utter garbage. I thought Doom 2016 and Prey were pretty good though.

If you play handhelds they never went anywhere but insofar as greater cultural relevance then we MIGHT be on the cusp of a renaissance. 2017 has been the best year for high profile Japanese games in quite a while but I doubt it'll be toppling the baseline western commercial dominance, now about a decade strong, for some time. But it's looking better now than it has throughout the late 00s and early/mid 10s.

Japan was fucked up because of military leadership during WWII. U.S. won their war with Japan and tried to fix their government. I think this is where the U.S. enforced laws are coming from.

Western devs are having an arms race who can pander to Anita's loony crowd the most while forgetting their old dedicated fanbases.

They make dumbass shit like Arkham and then pretend that it's a gud battle system. Why is it that most of the Dark Souls fellating actually goes on in the West yet not a single one of these assholes has the guts to do their take on a Dark Souls style game. A game which was supposedly Western influenced even though the gameplay is unlike any Western game.

I don't think it's a Jap resurgence at all. Most of these games mentioned are old ass shit that just recently came out to the West. Nioh & Purseowner 5 are games that both had a decade or near decade long development time.
