Do I need any mods to play this game and is it still worth playing?

Do I need any mods to play this game and is it still worth playing?

I'm not a graphics snob but I appreciate decent combat.

It aged like milk in every respect
GMDX is mandatory

No mods necessary imo, if you're REALLY ingrained with modern shooters you might want to mod out the waiting system for guns

Is there any reason to put points in Swimming?

of course not

Of course.

There are few areas where you have to swim, and you could just use a few rebreathers if you need to.

I'm still waiting for this fucking guy to release 9.0 before I replay it.

You get the secret ending if you put all points in swimming

GMDX blows. Sprint meter? Fuck off.
All you need is Deus Exe, which does not change anything, only resolves compatibility issues.

I'm a faggot raised on a combination of Halo and Morrowind. I played it for the first time in 2010

Its perfectly playable with some patience. Though Its recomended to get at least some compatibility fixes for modern PC's, the kind that are recommended on PCgamingwiki.

GMDX is legitimately great, though it doesn't make the combat feel like something from a new game, just a more polished version of the original, or at least bringing it up to standards of other shooters on its same engine, like Unreal Tournament. Best thing to keep in mind is that if you feel you're limited by your shitty skills, take that opportunity to get creative and try some wild shit out.

It, like Thief 1&2 and MANY older PC games, should be entered with the assumption that you're going to be going into the CONTROLS MENU

AND DELETING JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING and then rebinding shit.

It's actually more like the fatigue meter in Morrowind, also gives you the ability to mantle shit like in Thief.

I'd wait another week for GMDX 9.0 if I were you unless you want to have the vanilla experience first. I like this mod as it's making logical fixes and additions that don't seem like muh ocee while sprucing locations up in a lore friendly manner so they aren't quite so barren.
Only downside is that the creator is infamously bad at keeping release dates, so there's no telling whether he'll keep the next one.

I'm a fag that hates many of the problems that are present in older games and I can say no, the game's pretty solid. The only thing that's weird is the default controls but the game thankfully has an option to rebind them.

Just get the Katie launcher or whatever it's called with the direct10 renderer, that's all you need.

Many mods are out there. Recommend playing through Nameless Mod. Outdated forum jokes but if you're not a newfag you should understand.

What if I'm a newfag?

No. Unless you're me, and you have to install some kind of mod in order to get it to stop fucking lagspiking to a halt every other map.

You're not a newfag, you're cancer. That makes you even worse and more undeserving to play that game.

What if I've already played Deus Ex though?

Just play Human Revolution

Its better in every way

Don't care. Kill yourself before I have to do it for you.

You'll never kill me like I killed it with your mom yesterday.

I'm going to kill you twice as hard just for saying that.

You had erectile dysfunction trying to have sex with my mother?

you can deactivate the stamina meter AFAIK. You can deactivate most new options for a more "purist" experience

Not if I kill you thrice as hard first.

I'LL KILL YOUR FOUR TIMES AS HARD WHILE USING THE ZA WARUDO

what mod is this? my only problem with the game

Fucking pleb

fr*ck off dude, i'm like 12 hours in and it's not an actual "problem" but I don't see the point, I rather not have to wait.

I simply love the vibe and the nostalgia this gave gives. Don't think you need any mod for it.

New Vision for higher resolutions and that's fucking it. The game is fine the way it is and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just rebind the controls when you start out. You can dive into gameplay mods after your first vanilla playthrough.

What a piece of shit mediocre overated hipster trash game Deus ex always was. This thread pretty much shows the average playerbase.

>Waiting to shoot
>Not a modern trend
???

Invest points in pistols or whatever you are using,
infact if you infest fully in to pistol and attach a scope you become OP

I was thinking of going all in on the silenced pistol, but I don't know now that I got the ability to silence the sniper that seems best

Do you want fast reload and snipe from far? One hit enemies? Than silenced pistol is way to go

So if you max it out it shoots like a regular fps, hits right where you aim without waiting?

Yes

>implying he'll actually release it on the 8th

Watch him delay it once more.

Well shit if I knew that I wouldn't have a problem with the shooting, it makes sense now, and the mod would basically cheat the leveling system. Guess I'll keep it vanilla first play through then go nuts.

GMDX is honestly probably my favorite overhaul to any game ever. Everything felt so seamless and logical. Literally the only gripe I had with it that flashlight drained a ridiculous amount of energy but that's it.

I'll tell ya OP, when i first played this game couple years ago i stopped after the first hour.
Then i came back because my autismo forced me to finish a game i started, and it was probably the best game experience i had in years
The level design and the freedom is still unmatched. The plot is like a b-movie but written by a dude that truly believes in his job, the soundtrack is excellent and all the details are right on spot if you like immersion.
If you clench your teeth a little in a hour you'll go back to a time when games were made with love and passion, and you'll be able to ignore every negative aspect.
Also you'll start shitting on how dumbed down modern games are

Same experience, Liberty Island is honestly the worst opening level of all time in video games. No idea what they were thinking.

sniper is shit.

The level starts off slow but by the time you go down into unatco hq I was entranced.

>The plot is like a b-movie
has to be a troll

if by shit you mean the most op weapon in the game, then yes.

It's perfectly playable vanilla and you have no reason not to at least try it. Just remember that you're not going to be a walking tank the moment you start the game.

why is that a troll?

Has this game aged as well Deus Ex?

Played it for the first time a few years ago, aged perfectly fine.

yes

Liberty Island isn't particularly bad, it's just a really good pleb filter.

I installed the fix and now its dark as fuck and theres no reasonable way to adjust it.
