So, just got one of these and I need my fine Sup Forumsirgins to help me turn it into an emulation station

I've been out of the emu scene for years, so I got no idea where the best places to get ROMs from are now. in addition I also wanna emu systems I never have before(PS1, neo geo, etc) so need a good place that has a nice breadth of systems

Can you help a console peasant out? even this form of PC gaming is still too intimidating for my Sony-fied brian

You should've just bought a Wii
That'd way you'd at least get component output

Enjoy your paperweight

If you bought a pi3 to turn it into a retropie, why not google how to do that before buying one?

>paperweight

Not only does the Pie have as many or more emulation options, it can also be used for about 100 other things if you ever get tired of gaming.

troll harder

I know how to turn make the thing itself play games, but I need to actually find games to put on it.

I'm asking for good sources of ROMs. emulators are not very useful without them.

>reddit spacing

>there are actual retards on Sup Forums sucking off the rpi right now
For fuck sake, I have a bunch of Pis and even I know it can't play shit. N64 emulation is trash, would rather have the Wii

Wii cant do 64 games for shit

Spawn wave on you tube did a video tutorial on how to do this, and it's not long. Check it out.

Has anyone tried something like this?

Pretty crazy. Though to be honest I doubt I'd even care for 95% of these games

For PS1, it may be too weak without tweak.
Mame, ePSXe & co for linux to handle libraries.
Frontend : hyperspin. This way you'll be able to handle all game n platform with just an interface.

Again, JUST LOOKING FOR A GOOD ROM SOURCE

I know how to turn it into an emulation device, but I need actual roms to emulate.

Torrenting will be your best source as the more famous emulations are being screwed. Try to grab whole sets of roms and try to add a usb drive since it'll be a life saver. Grab a decent power cable too as you'll start worrying about power management.

neither can rpi

Romstation ? I m like u say u can setup the shit and ur googlefu is pleb-tier

Get a 32GB SD HC card + adapter reader
Format that card with the official sd software
Download recalbox
Burn recalbox with a raspberry iso burner program, i dont remember the name
Connect RPi to hdmi
power it up
connect wired controller and configure it

Im a curious passerby, not OP

so what IS the best emulation machine for plug and play accessibility?
Just buy a half shitty laptop with HDMI support?

Pi3 is more then powerful enough for PS1 without any problems

Stop shilling this piece of shit. We've already got a thread of you faggots going on right now we didn't need another.

Your old PC tower + CRT monitor

the PI3 is excellent for just about anything around ps1 or lower, sometimes even going higher

N64 emulation is notoriously difficult and even PCs have a lot of problems with it

fyi, most of the people ITT so far seem to have only had experience with the older versions of the pi. Pi3(current version) is amazing for emulation

how would pc + crt compare to actual nes/snes + crt in terms of input lag and delays?

How does it do with Nintendo, Sony, and microsoft gamepads via bluetooth? Whats the most they can have at once?

>asking for roms(that can be used on any emulator, not pi specific) is somehow shilling the Pi

Fuck off you gigafaggot.

The only lag would come from the emulators themselves
Everything else should be immediate if you don't use a shit OS like Winbot 10

As far as I know it has no issues supporting just about any pad you throw at it

if it'll work on a PC it'll work on a Pi. remember a pi is just a heavily cut down PC

hm...
so if I connect my HD TV to my PC (it's not that far) I could run both "monitors" at once (only have one monitor on the PC atm) and have emulators playing on the TV in full screen without it looking like garbage?

I remember plugging my old snes into my hdtv and shit was not only stretched but also awfully delayed

>can almost never get my pads working consistently on PC
>360 needs its own dongle
Even the switch joycon
those things have a worse bluetooth range than they do on the console
I just wanna play Duck Game local multi, dammit

Smash 64 only works okay on a wii if its a 1v1

you need to fuck off and kill youreslf or do the god damn work yourself, subhuman spooneating subhuman

You're gonna get screen tearing if you use 2 monitors in a single gpu
Use an old PC that you are not currently using and get your CRT monitor running at 240p 120Hz to get real scanlines
All 2D retro games will look like garbage on any kind of modern screen

just buy them from Nintendo's eshop.

>he doesn't know where to find roms
lelmaoing at ur life

Shit sucks, I just don't have the space here right now to put up my giant ancient CRT beast

>I/O options are shit
>specs are shit
>software is shit

Buy a computer or arduino.

CRT monitors aren't really big user

>Again, JUST LOOKING FOR A GOOD ROM SOURCE

I recently started emulation because I wanted to play Metal Gear for NES without blowing on a cartridge for ten minutes until I pass out. I used Emuparadise.

Emuparadise has most stuff. Nintendo recently went nuts with DMCA claims so you'd be best getting a nointro fullset from archive org or something

The one I have probably weighs like 50kg

Heavy != Big

It's giant, too. I already said so.
