343 Industries was a mistake
343 Industries was a mistake
>Company makes a game about the military... just in space
>It's great, makes a million sequels
>New company gets its hands on the IP
>Tries to make it a generic Sci-Fi space opera
>It's shit, series basically dies
Gee, I wonder what went wrong.
to what end
Halo 4 was atrocious.
Space opera can be fine it's just
>humans were actually a tier 1 civilization on par with the forerunners
>forerunners were actually bad guys
>humans teamed up with the prophets in a war against the forerunners
>flood actually came from the precursors (basically the forerunner's forerunners) turning themselves into a powder to be revived later, but turn into flood when the process fucks up
Is the kind of lore they've been adding
These things can't be true. Please tell me where you get this info.
I thought the flood themselves were the Precursors?
Wait, I thought humans were the descendants of the Forerunners?
Look at the OP picture lmao, it's all true
It's all canon. to top it all off:
>The precursors were slaughtered by the forerunners they created because humans were doing a better job and weren't being assholes about it
>The precursors turned into the flood to take revenge on the forerunners, but somewhere along the line just decided "fuck it, nobody will go forerunner levels ever again
Nope, ancient humans were at war with the Forerunners hundreds of thousands of years ago. We got our ass handed to us and as punishment we were regressed back to basically primates by the Forerunners
>"The Forerunners won and, as punishment by the Didact (Forerunner leader) reduced humanity to a pre-technological state: he stripped them of their technology, smashed their civilizations, and exiled their remnants to Earth. Though The Librarian watched over and guarded humanity as the race scraped itself back together, The Didact used the Composer to destroy a small portion of mankind. Because of this The Librarian locked The Didact away for the safety of humanity and himself. "
tl;dr: fuck the Forerunners
4 and everything after it is non canon. The Human-Covenant war began because the covenant found humanity, and because they were descendants of Forerunners, they started a war because the people they worshiped were still alive, and would have been a threat to their government.
I tell myself that to keep my sanity desu
Not only that, but the prometheans are made from humans gag in Halo 4
>finno-korean hyperwar
At least tell the full story. Humanity was trying to race out ahead of the flood as part of their strategy to contain it. In doing this, they infringed on forerunner planets.
The Forerunner, who didn't know about the flood, thought that Humanity was invading and declared war on humanity.
Fighting a now two-front war against flood and forerunner, humanity was defeated and the cure they just invented was destroyed. forerunners then realized humanity wasn't invading them, but were trying to escape the flood.
but yeah fuck 343 they should have never went into the backstory of the halo universe. leave everything a mystery. leave the forerunners a mystery.
The cure's been retconned. now the flood fooled everyone into thinking there existed one.
They were getting shitty the moment they cut Halo 2, leaving you with a non-ending cliffhanger to make the next game XBOX HUEG EXCLUSIVE! BUY OUR CONSOLE AND GET A CALL OF DUTY TOO!. It all went downhill from there.
At least halo 3 kept consistent with the lore. Halo 2 getting cut in half wasn't on purpose either, the development was a clusterfuck and they lost an entire year of time building a new engine
no way... you're telling me when a woman takes charge, everything is ruined? hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Yes, but the way they handled it was clearly showing they wanted to go full Call of Duty and start pumping games out while focusing more on the multiplayer and coop.
No? Every games multiplayer until 343 remained as barebones as the first. They kept a 3 year cycle and bungie didn't even want to make more games past halo 3, Microsoft just forced them to. Call of duty wasn't even big by the time bungie split from Microsoft in 2007
Halo was immensely more popular before CoD exploded, underage faggot.
COD copying happened with Halo 4/5. You literally outed yourself as a newfag.
CE, we are the aliens.
2, they are the aliens!
3, alright we don't know they chose us because they liked our planet and the librarian came here to die.
I don't even know what this post is trying to say.
Did halo 3 even mention the librarian? I don't remember that being a thing until 4
Terminals did, but they were all extremely vague on purpose.
If the Forerunners had a war with humans and killed them, why did Guilty Spark help Chief?
Why didn't he kill Chief from the start in that case?
Games I would recommend if you've played Halo all your life:
>Doom (2016)
>Turok games
>Half-Life
>Destiny
>Marathon
>Unreal Tournament
>maybe Lawbreakers?
>Forerunners were the archetypical "Ancient alien precursor race" you see all over sci-fi
>The second they get the spotlight the Precursors get introduced
>Being so hackneyed and lazy in your writing that you have to fucking double down on the precursor race archetype
You forgot the best part.
>it's canon that the forerunners called themselves forerunners and the precursors called themselves precursors
>Flood almost consumed the whole galaxy
>Forerunners fire the halo rings
>Humans were chosen by one of their leaders to take over after the galaxy recovered
>Halo CE Anniversary retcons spark to disable security protocols to allow humans on land on Halo
>Covenant shenanigans led to flood outburst
>Only ones who can activate halo are humans
This nigger is stupid as fuck
Does that mean the Forerunners are the Halo equivalent of the Eldar?
Take me to the timelime where Halo never existed because even my fond memories have been tainted now
A-at least halo 5 is fun, right guys?
Is Halo one of the most JUST series in gaming?
Not quite. 4 had a good campaign and 5 had good multiplayer. Neither was great, and neither lived up to the Bungie games, but it far and away is not the disaster that happened to series like Fallout, TES, Resident Evil, AssCreed, etc.
