Now that Crash N'Sane Trilogy is out, can we all agree the Donkey Kong Country games are superior in every conceivable way to the Crash games?
Now that Crash N'Sane Trilogy is out...
Goddamn I love that boxart
Yes, and before anyone gets it wrong:
DKC > DKC 2 > DKC 3 >>>> DKCR series
non-Mario platformers are total garbage
they're cheesy garbage for kids
Mario at least has an impression of being pure gameplay for all ages and skill levels
>DKCR series
What's so bad about it? Never played DK but installed that game on my 3DS and it seems okay.
I was listening to the DKCTF soundtrack today and it was so fucking good it made me go look for a used Wii U just to play the fucking game. David Wise is unbelievable.
DKC 2>DKC>DKCR>DKC3
Haven't played TF obviously.
Tropical Freeze was actually pleasantly surprising.
...
I've read nothing but high praise here, which is a rarity considering the usual shitposting that abounds anything Wii U. They should probably re-release it for switch once the unit has a decent install base.
I played crash 1 for the first time on an emulator recently and I enjoyed it more than dkc 1. DKC2 is better than any Crash game.
I like both DKC and Crash Bandicoot and think they're both awesome.
DKC2 = TF > DKCR = DKC1 > DKC3
hopefully if DKCR3 gets released it will break this trend
Where the fuck is my DKC Pentalogy for the Switch, Nintendo?
>Yes, and before anyone gets it wrong I'll get it completely wrong myself
Cool. But for real, though:
TF > 2 > 1 > R > 3.
What is wrong with Tropical Freeze? It is a great game with creative levels with solid level design. It still sucks that only Rambi is the only returning playable animal buddy, but when you get him, he is fun as hell. The only thing I can really nit pick was that World 6 was kinda lame in terms of creative direction.
I'd say they're equally shitty.
This honestly
2 > 1 > 3
Never played R or TF but I am always hearing high praise for TF. Buying a Wii U soon for this game
truth
No you faggot, I grew up on DKC, first game I got and I also loved the Crash's. If I want to play a 3D platformer I won't settle for a 2D one so it's retarded to compare.
They're not even really the same game in any way besides being platformers.
Tropical Freeze is 2nd after DKC2.
You just didn't own a Wii U.
DKC2 > Super Metroid
In every single aspect: gameplay, controls, graphics, soundtrack, waifus, etc.
Super Metroid > DKC2
Gameplay is a tie, controls are a tie, graphics are a tie, soundtrack is a tie, Samus > you're waifu
DKC2 actually requires you to dodge obstacles instead of just tanking and button mashing your way through, so the gameplay wins by default.
Super's control are one of the worst in the entire console.
DKC's graphics in general are the best the SNES has to offer.
DKC2's OST is literally the greatest of all time.
Samus is an uglier version of Sarah Bryant. In fact Metroid fans jack off to Sarah Bryant's SFM model thinking it's Samus.
2 >= 3 > TF > Returns > 1
Seriously, though. DKC1 is fucking trash.
>bonuses are hidden in spots with absolutely ZERO hints
>no way to know how many bonuses are in a level until after you beat it and don't see a !
>bonuses are just rooms with a couple bananas most of the time.
>no extra world for getting all the bonuses
>bland level design that repeats itself constantly
>worst swimming levels in the series by far
Basically, if you think DKC1 is better than any of the others you are seriously retarded.
DKC2 is a completely different type of game, relying on precision platforming with 1 or 2 chances to get it right. Comparing gameplay styles is pointless.
Super's controls are great, to the point where once you know what you're doing you can literally skip "mandatory" stuff. You can even do the game in reverse with some glitch abuse + tight control.
I'll give you the graphics, although I'd argue Super Metroid's graphics are perfect for the game's style and help create the eerie atmosphere that makes the game great. DKC style graphics wouldn't work at all on SM.
Can't argue with David Wise but Super's music gives any OST a run for it's money.
You're waifu a shit.
I love both games to death and replay them once a year minimum.
I can't play as Donkey Kong in 2 or 3.
Kiddy Kong is basically Donkey Kong with more abilities. I'm really surprised no one has made a hack of DKC3 that replaces him, desu.
>Super's music gives any OST a run for it's money.
It's painfully mediocre for Nintendo standards. Even the C-List Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu's OST destroys Super's.
They're different types of games, but really now. DKC2 is just a playstation-tier adventure game. Nothing on the cascading creativity of Yoshi's Island or Super Mario World.
And the graphics are mud, another playstation trademark. Just make a game look good, is that so hard?
Super Metroid is a good game, DKC2 is trash.
this guy gets it
No
You didn't play it when you were a kid.
In terms of creativity and level design the two DKCR games blow the originals out of the water.
I agree with this guy, half the fun of DKC2 and 3 is finding/defeating the bonus worlds
>Recently unemployed
>Donating
>Calling situation a vacation
Super Metroid is a walking simulator. Walking is all there is to it, because you have so much energy that enemies are a non-issue. The entire Metroid franchise revolves around backtracking, which fanboys euphemistically call "exploring".
Super Metroid is more of a game than Gone Home, but not by a large margin.
Would rather backtrack than get chastised by a shitty game because I didn't collect every DK coin or find all of the bonus rooms.
...
>beam of light still going from DKC2 to TF
very subtle, I like the cut of your jib
I actually didn't notice it. Yellow on white can be hard to see.
Miyamoto said DKC is mediocre
Crash is better than that shit
Miyamoto also said he liked Krystal sooooo
He was upset DKC sold many times more than his shitty Yoshi's Island. That DKC was made by baka gaijin pissed him off even more. All Japs are like that, and their attitude made them lose the industry to the west.
Even if he were mad about that it doesn't make it any less true, DKC is simple compared to the depth of Mario World
But you don't backtrack in Super Metroid, do you? When you're on your way 'back', new paths have opened up.
It's a shame, because both games are complete trash. DKC just sold more because its pre-rendered graphics were impressive.
>fly to win
Super Mario World is almost as poorly designed and easily broken as Super Metroid.
bait
Can't think of a more mountainous game than Yoshi's Island, can you? It's like when people described Bonnie and Clyde as 'pure film'. SMW2 is 'pure game'.
SMW is broken as fuck, user. The cape and Yoshi break the game.
What the fuck are you talking about?
The cape feather is broken af and you know it
One is a 2D platformer and the other is 3D. Almost impossible to compare the two. They just play too drastically different from each other.
>What the fuck are you talking about?
You don't like fun, but imagine you're someone who does. Every 2 minutes you get a new toy. And they're good toys. And then these toys begin to interact like players in an opera. And they don't stop for hours and hours.
At the end of the experience you have something as significant as The Marriage of Figaro or The Garden of Earthly Delights.
I do like fun. Yoshi's Island and DKC are not fun.
This. There's not enough backtracking. Only backtracking is fun.
Backtracking to mask a lack of content is not fun. The Thousand Year Door is proof of this.
Conkers Bad Fur Day is still the be all of platformers with Jak and Daxter coming in a close second.
The only good DKC game is pic related.
CBFD still marvels me to this day. That game had so much depth, content, and creativity to it especially for it's time. Me and friends would spend hours just playing the multiplayer.
>Smash Bros. made me hate Diddy Kong forever
Well, Crash games literally are uninspired DKC rip-offs made 3D corridor.
Of course DKC is superior. The Crash series isn't even good at all and is the most overrated piece of shit of the videogame industry.
The DKC series good at all either and there's plenty of games more overrated than Crash.
Crash N'Sane Trilogy = Dark Souls
County Kong Country trilogy = Bloodborn
