>steam sale ends

Game wasn't even in huge sale, what was the point
I'll happily shill for it, it's a good game that deserves more success than it got.
Buy Hollow Knight.
>buy it on sale
>put 22 hours into it
>get the true ending
>still only 92% complete
Easily worth the 10 dollars, but how could you guys think Trial of the Fool and Lost Kin were hard? Did you not have a fully upgraded nail by that point? I had more trouble with Dung Defender than any of the dream bosses.
Dung Defender is a literal meme boss, I find that hard to believe.
It's not really my cup of tea - too much running back and forth in the same-y looking locations looking for the next path you can unlock.
Everyone knows it isn't worth full price.
There were never any shills in the first place you fucking retard, 9/10 of the threads were falseflags and the rest were attempting to have honest discussion. You want to complain about shilling look at the constant Dark Souls/Mario/New Vegas/Crash threads.
>They are shills only when I say they are
Tard
I got it. I like the game as much as I think I can. Art direction is good, music is good, enemy types are varied. I don't like metroidvanias
it is no surprise that devs/marketers come here to shill games but most of it were probably falseflags.
i saw plenty of hollow knight shills during this sale, even threads boasting about how it got 300k sales on steam.
I also see a lot of skullgirls shilling every time something about the mobile port or whatever update they make to the game. Niggas just spam the thread with webems.
I completely missed the nailsmith until 3/4 through the game so a lot of bosses were tougher than they probably shouldve been for me but only ones that I died more than once to, if ever, were Dung Defender, Crystral Guardian fight 2, Failed Champion, and The Radiance.
I have no idea where the nailsmith is, though I was told about him. I was told to go see him before fighting the mantis lords, but I completely shit on them anyway.
Pirated it lol
Mantis Lords were pretty easy but still a good fight. Nailsmith is to the left of City of Tears, after coming down from the entrance from the mushroom place you'll see a nail sign that points to the left.
Does the game expect you to pogo on top of these guys?
There is one part in greenpath where the gap is clearly too big to jump across but there is one of these guys walking in it.
Maybe I just need to wait until I get the double jump.
because it's a shit game overhyped by shills. I pirated it instead.
Just pogo, man. Not hard.
>Does the game expect you to pogo on top of these guys?
You can pogo off enemies by attacking downwards in the air, there are multiple items you can only get with this technique.
Been a little bit but I down attacked the. I think in one path you can't get as far as you'd hope to anyway.
Ye tho you can do that.
Yeah the attack down to bounce on them. You can do the same thing with spikes.
yes
>lmao this game is so easy
>btw I used a guide lol
I pirated it but enjoyed it enough to buy it. Also, the arena thing is bugged on t he pirated version I had.
Also also, the pirated save file copies to the new one and works just fine.
Yeah, but you can cheese a lot of the sections that require that with the crystal heart, so you might want to just wait for the peak first.
Geh goh!
I tried pogoing but it's just so clunky
Maybe I just need to git gud
What really makes me think is how a false flagger has that much influence.
Hollow Knight shills are just like XIV shills. You make ANY criticism of their game, no matter how small and/or legitimate and they chimp the fuck out and won't shut the fuck up.
There is a later part where you have to pogo over a bunch of those to get a new nail art.
With crystal heart you can skip all but the last stretch of that, though admittedly that is the hardest leg of it.
>there aren't people who just bought the game on sale talking about it
Really flubs my grubs.
I got the game yesterday morning. It's not bad but I don't see see why people were saying it's the greatest metroidvania ever. I've been playing for about 5 hours and just got through the city of tears and still using the one nail attack exclusively. I don't know anything about the story either, like does my character have a purpose? I've just been wandering around for no reason with no plot at all.
Most of us just want to discuss the game. Shill threads were probably false flags
>second trial in Fool's Colosseum
>fall on spikes at one point
>game keeps spawning me over the spikes, instantly causing me to hit the spikes
>die
>mfw
Thanks for not playtesting your game at all you stupid fucking faggots.
I got the fully upgraded nail without a guide. Never beat the trial of fools though because I got sick of playing through literally ten minutes (I timed it) of the same easy shit just to attempt a thirty second sequence I was struggling with and having to go all the way back if I failed.
The character has a very specific purpose but you learn all that shit later. The game is a slow burn and takes ages to git gud, as they say
Willing shill right here, don't even need the money.
I wouldn't call it the greatest metroidvania ever, but I think it's enjoyable in its own right.
>I've been playing for about 5 hours and just got through the city of tears and still using the one nail attack exclusively.
There are nail arts to find, and you could be using spells.
>I don't know anything about the story either, like does my character have a purpose?
There is one, you're drip fed pieces of it if you pay attention to the world and listen/examine things.I wouldn't call it a Citizen Kane-tier story but again, I've been enjoying it for what it is.
I had to replay most of the entire game because I got trapped in an area with no way to get out when a elevater bugged out on me.
Still love the game though.
The game really discourages using spells if your hp isn't full.
You using a controller?
What? I've complained about FFXIV before and each time everybody's agreed with me.
I didnt use a guide though nor did I think the game was easy, I just think the parts most of the threads considered hard weren't actually that hard. I haven't even attempted iron soul mode yet.
>I don't see see why people were saying it's the greatest metroidvania ever.
Those were mostly false-flagging anti-shills.
Lost Kin and Fool were brutally hard for me, but then suddenly everything got easier. Someone said they nerfed shit, but I couldn't find anything in the update logs. I don't really know how to feel about it now.
>another game that gets hyped up to he heavens by Sup Forums
>another game I fall for the hype over and decide to buy
>another game that's alright for being an indie project but clearly isn't anywhere as good as people are claiming it to be.
Don't know whether it's Sup Forums's exceptionally low standards, or just a sign of how shitty the industry as a whole is. Or both.
Oh, but do remember that Lost Kin &c. are only hard if you don't cheese them by just repeatedly attacking with quicknail.
Explain yourself.
>tfw stuck at 99% with only the Trial of Fools left
Just let me fucking beat it already. Even the White Palace was easier and I did that shit on a keyboard.
To me everything got easier as I upgraded the nail
>quicknail
Well i guess that explains it. I saw someone saying that using the dung defender's crest is cheese strat on Lost Kin so I made sure not to use it and had pretty much stopped using it when I first got it because I noticed it caused the big jellyfish to explode automatically, but no one said anything about quicknail being cheese.
You've done all the dreamnail bosses and you're stuck on CoF?
Have fun with the third trial user. You're going to love it.
>Tried some mods
>Now my unupgraded nail does 1 damage, as opposed to the normal 5.
>Charge Slash does 2
>Fully upgraded nail does less than 10 damage
>Save file is fucked* and need to delete the save to fix it
I can't even beat Dung Defender anymore. Should I proceed with this file for some sort of challenge run? Might just end up spamming spells
>on a keyboard.
Dream bosses weren't that bad since I could immediately go back and fight them. I keep dying to the endless spike pit 7 minutes into the trial.
You could probably use cheatengine to reset the values if you took the time.
>To me everything got easier as I upgraded the nail
Oh yeah, another thing to bear in mind. I did Lost Kin on a once-upgraded nail, for example, but someone else on a fully upgraded nail might find it easy.
>quicknail is cheese
It isn't really on its own (it's in the God-tier-but-not-cheese zone). What I mean is when you just tank all of the bosses' attacks while repeatedly hitting them. This stuns them before they can do much damage to you, letting you heal up so you can just repeat it all over again.
>pic
Cute!
You just have to get used to pogoing
The enemies are much harder than the spikes.
>tfw got this game and really like it but can't mention it without the memery taking off
(because the spikes mean you can't heal)
What did you do?
Disagree, there are badges and such that encourage the use of soul more strongly unless you're just really bad at the game and constantly taking damage.
He has a happy ending if you don't kill him.
Finally put the charged dash slash to good use
>turn back system clock
>game is still on sale for reduced price
>What I mean is when you just tank all of the bosses' attacks while repeatedly hitting them
I only found that to work on Hollow Knight desu, the dream bosses for example all have ways around that.
>Failed Champion deals two damage so you have to get good at dodging through instead of spamming
>Soul Tyrant constantly teleports and you only get a couple hits in at a time
>Lost Kin has the orange spirits that spawn in so you have to always back off and take those out before going back to him
Mostly the armored mosquitoes though. The flying gladiators cant attack directly upwards so you are safe pogoing on them.
Killed the fag
I didn't know you could just walk away so I gave him a good ol charge slash.
*sigh*
Baffa natha.
I face-tanked Hollow Knight the first time through.
I promised myself when I fought The Radiance I would do it fair, but I didn't have the patience for the first of three endings. The fight isn't that interesting.
Aw man I just looked it up and that's much more satisfying end for him
>you will never hear that sweet 'ronjo stanja' again
buy hollow knight. Soon on ps4
Just beat it last night. Dodging the constant lasers as I jumped up to the top of the Radiance arena and laying a nice charged SMACK on his ugly face had me so hyped I was shouting at my monitor. Good times
Fucked off because I didn't like that he wanted me to do something.
It is a better ending if you kill him IMO. More cool. But the hyperhomo ending is satisfying too.
I bought Momodora for a few bucks, but it only lasted me 4 hours.
I thought this would be the same and it was twice the price so i didnt bother, i wish i would have asked someone first though. It looks pretty fun.
It took way too fucking long to get the dash and wall jump
They're the first and second upgrades you get. I totally think you should've gotten them sooner, though, but only by a bit.
A dollar for each hour played is still a better value than going to the cinema.
So is it Bug World or just what goes on in someone's backyard?
>really bakes my ziti
how the fuck did you even come up with this
You can also wait to get the Tear that lets you swim through acid.
Take literally anything that is 2 words. Add an "S" to the first word. Insert the word "my"
How do you function on a daily basis? Do blue cars impress you?
jesus user calm down I just asked how OP alternates his almonds. Sorry I didn't know there was a formula. Are you ok? Why are you so mad?
Easier to pirate than give money to shills.
Damn...really captains my crunch
Which part of what I wrote implies anger? I was just asking how you manage to get by.
"U MaD bRo?"
And yet thread gets made anyway.
The dream bosses take facetanking pretty badly if you have most of the badges. You're basically talking quick slash and fragile strength so you do lots of highly damaging hits quickly, stalwart shell for longer invulnerability, and some mask or lifeblood boosting badges.
Basically you take one heart of damage whenever during your assault, then you have a couple seconds to just fucking whale on the enemy, rinse and repeat. For Failed Champion, you just guide yourself into one HP hits when necessary to avoid taking two, since certain attacks and hazards only do one.
GIT GOOD
is the true final boss even possible without cheesing it with the howling spell
Yes, he's pretty easy.
I never even used that spell
Yeah. You casual.
user I think you might be subconsciously misinterpreting what I wrote, twisting it into me reacting angrily when in reality I am more concerned. Perhaps you should take a break from Sup Forums and seek help?
Yeah, but phase 2 is a bitch to get through unscathed and you'll probably want to get through phase 4 as fast as possible so it only makes sense to dump all your soul on Wraiths at that point.
Shape of Unn
THIS FUCKING JEW STOLE ALL MY 4.5K GEO, WTF!?!?
There's two phases and a "cinematic experience". What are you on about with this phase 4?
