I don't really mind it, the team is still adding new mechanics Generations didn't have to these old levels so it'll be a fresh experience and even thematically speaking the new areas look different enough to me (especially in Act. 2).
I don't know about that, you can say the best 3D Sonic game in a long time but huge amount still prefer the first 2 Adventure games.

Yes he does, they work the exact same and they've been expanded to actually effect the environment now (Flame Shield can burn wooden things you run over in Green Hill and the Electric Shield can magnetize you to the ceiling in Flying Batter Zone for examples).

Played a rom hack that makes STH look and play like mania. And I can safely say, The Drop Dash is extremely useful, and takes rewarding speed to the next level. Using it recklessly with punish you, but if you know where and how to use it, it's great.
