Have to buy a $300 peripheral to be competitive in fighting games

>have to buy a $300 peripheral to be competitive in fighting games
This has to be the most inacessible genre I've ever seen.

Get a job kid

they aren't necessary. people have won international tournaments with a pad

We already had this thread
You can get sticks for $60 and you don't need one to be competitive, it's all personal preference and EVO has been won with PSX pads before

This is like posting a $300,000 luxury car and saying "it's so expensive to get from point A to point B :((((("

poorfags lol

Cheapest stick is a HORI Real Arcade Pro 4. It retails for 150. Sometimes you can get one for 100-125 usd. There is a qanba crystal which retails for about the same, but those are sold mostly online and shipping is about 20 dollars. also the pic in OP's post is a Vewlix controller, which is about a foot long and about 8 inches wide? But it is supposed to mimic the size of an actual arcade cab controller.

Are there any tutorials with fightsticks? I just got one and it's hard to do some specials from one side then the other

yeah it's called training mode you retarded faggot

So play Mortal Kombat instead. Sticks don't make you better there.

>Cheapest stick is a HORI Real Arcade Pro 4.
No it isn't. There are tons of cheaper ones out there, and they can be upgraded too.

You don't have to, a normal dualshock 3/4 or even keyboard on PC are great too, its a matter of preference.

for $300 you can buy a better stick than that hori. One with actual sanwa parts instead of hayabusa/kuro sticky shit that hori came up with.

Most good rhythm game ASCs are more expensive.

I meant like if there was a proper way to hold like wineglass, that kinda thing but maybe I'm just a retard like you said

>falling for the autism stick meme
You don't need one. A controller works fine unless you really like the feeling of constantly gripping a shaft.

sanwa sucks

seimitsu was always japanese arcade standard for every game other than virtua fighter

then madcatz and viral marketers on SRK's tech talk section shilled sanwa and made it into a meme, even though before that every japanese cab used SEIMITSU parts and it was standard for sf2, sf3, KoF, and more.

sanwa sticks are so fucking floppy it's unbearable, you got meme'd on.

>pad players were irrelevant all throughout fighting game history
>sf5 comes out
>suddenly pad players are tournament level
really activates my almonds.

Those mini's don't count because they don't use real arcade parts. Those sticks use membrane buttons and maybe if you are lucky switch based stick. But don't count on it. Also if you buy one of those, you will have to get one of 150 dollar sticks. I'm sorry you can't be cheap with a stick. There is a giant difference. Also don't give me that shit where you say you can just upgrade one of those cheaper sticks, because you are really just buying a case. Because NONE of those parts are reusable, cept maybe the controller board.

How good are the semitsu buttons and stick? I might just get them if they are better then Sanwa

I've been using Sanwa for years and they're fine. Switching to Korean Lever soon though.

Ahem...should have gotten a Hitbox.

...

pad players were always pretty big around SFIV

Not really. Everyone has pretty much their own "style" and some pro players have even hand disfigurements like ligaments gone to shit or something for faster movement.

down to preference desu. I do like Hori's hayabusa and kuros. Some people feel the Kuro buttons don't give too much tactile feedback.

they're better by far

sanwa is loose and has a long throw distance, it just feels floppy like a college roastie's post-chad meathole

ls-32 or ls-56

Oh and for the love of god if you are new to stick. DO NOT GET AN OCTOGATE! you are just hobbling yourself.

Buy a mini stick, buy a set of basic sanwa parts. That's under $100

luffy won sf4 evo with a ps1 controler

Why, what if I want to "ride the gate"?

some people like a short throw, some long. Its all about what you like. there isn't a "way" to this. Also if you never played on stick, you are basically going to relearn the game.

I tried an LS-32 and it felt like total ass. super loose deadzone, felt really squishy, and super scratchy against the restrictor. It just felt like a cheap product, I swapped back to Sanwa after a few weeks.

I recently switched to Octogate and find it easier to do electrics in tekken, but fuck hitting diagonals is harder than it should be.

Okay do the math. it comes out to about the same. You are not saving money. Unless you don't count shipping.

>sup stickboi

Seimitsu shills hard at work in this thread.

There's a reason why Sanwa is the gold standard for fightsticks.

>but fuck hitting diagonals is harder than it should be.
This is why people shit on octo gates, it's just not worth it. Having equally sized zones for each direction is ideal

thats a bad habit. You're going to have to break it at one point.

Yeah no.

>Okay do the math. it comes out to about the same.
I did, a set of sanwa parts + shipping doesn't cost anything close to $90. You're crazy.

Well I'm switching to Korean stick soon which has no gate I believe, but I think it functions like a circle gate.

maybe you should stop raping the stick like a mong and scratching against the gate? you know the japs don't even touch the gate right?

Stick cucks on suicide watch

Snakeeyes, luffy and nuckledu all used pad in sf4

>fell for the stick meme
>its loud as fuck and wakes up roommates
did i buy a bad stick or all they all like that

also an octo has the same % as a circle or no gate.

Dingus buy a Qanba Q1 for 70 bucks, and just swap out the buttons for at most 20 bucks, since the buttons are the only bad part about those sticks.

Tekkenmaster and Sonicfox are almost better then everyone
>tfw a sandnigger and a furry are getting mad dough without buying childish peripherals
Who knew sticks were a meme all along?

Strawman harder. You only have to glance against the gate to feel the roughness, and whether or not you should be touching the gate often has nothing to do with it making the stick feel cheap.

Why would anyone not learn how to use hitbox? They are objectively superior.

sonicfox is the only successful player of the two and he's an mk player.

Tfw want a cheap stick

only cheap ones I find are for the 360 i have a ps4 and pc

>brain controls still aren't the norm
science has let me down

Just get the 360 one and play on PC, then once there's a sale on brook PCB, buy it

why do you need a ps4? pc has every fighting game.

A good amount of the newer fighting games have an option to detect "Legacy controllers" or whatever, so something like a Qanba Q1 works in SFV on PS4, for instance. Just google the stick you want, and if it's compatible with the games you want.

Retard.

on the qunaba shop they are 89.99

PC Fighting games are all about lame nude mods made by people who've never seen a nude woman outside porn.

Training mode.
Just practice your specials back and forth from side of the screen to the other. Same for combos. Work on reaction times ie. Shoryuken, anti airs, etc... its only hard for about a week. Before you know it you wont be able to play pn pad anymore. Goodluck.

But fighting games are more alive on PC.

>sanwashills in every thread telling everyone to make sure their stick has shitty sanwaâ„¢ parts
>stick feels like a loose vagina and has crummy switches that stick over time and don't activate as quickly as levered switches
>shitty buttons that wear out after 3 presses and get activated when a butterfly flaps its wings, rated for like 1/5th the presses as other brands

every fucking thread you sanwashills are out in full force to make sure the goyim buy your terrible parts.

>But fighting games are more alive on PC.

or some people like it. Its always the shills man

Sticks are shit. I use a saturn pad via a usb converter.

>sensitive buttons are bad

For tekken 7 and fightcade.

A PS1 controller is basically a smaller more ergonomic hitbox with slightly shittier buttons.

yeah but the fighting community is dead on pc ps4 is the main console

stop blaming the pad and git gud.

NO IT SHILLS

...

new to fighting games learning new mechanics is fun and combos etc but holy shit I can never see myself actually getting good

in all honesty to get good you need to have at least one person as dedicated to play with as you, otherwise you can lear a bunch of shit, but have nobody to play with, and online is typically trash for fgc games.

time

That's a boy

just go on fightcade and get bodied everyday until you eventually come out not retarded, it's what I do.

>you can get sticks for 60$
no you can't, you're wasting your money if you buy a cheap stick. either buy a good stick or use a controller, both are fine.

hori real arcade pro 5 worth 100 bucks?

one near me on craigslist

fuck off georgiafag

You're going to get stabbed

Big guy Aris who has way more experience than you says it's stupid to waste more than $60 on a stick. Guess who I'm gonna believe?

From California

Nah have bought hundreds of things from craigslist anyone who gets stabbed or mugged by niggers are retarded

if its a 5 that is one of the japanese imports. Its the same as the american edition. It might be one of the older sticks that has a native 1 frame of lag.

>$300
>This has to be the most inacessible genre I've ever seen.

cute

>wheel that's not used or no-name shit, $300
>at very least stand for it, $300
>and don't even try to play it on a single display
>or with computer incapable of running the game properly in 5760x1080

Read everything else already discussed on the subject.

>those pubes peeking through the fabric

Anyone else see that garbage LTG steam tat just went off?

this one?

No clue about fighting sticks but it looks used

>5760x1080
>4:3 monitors
???

>buy $300 meme stick
>still suck at the game
W O W
O
W

He's going to lose at Evo this year, hes fucking garbage

Sticks are mediocre. Hitbox is the future. Pads have more advantage than stick.

like why

Just fucking drive a car around if you're going to invest that much

get a load of this goy

Thanks for the advice man

What about online friends though? Having an online friend and taking notes about each other can help, right?

racing is a rich man's hobby. fighting games are for poor people. in a way, $300 for a stick is more prohibitive than spending $3000 on racing shit.

Racing exists???
Also, this is why melee is superior. All you need is a hacked wii and a gamecube controller per player. That's $45 with a used Wii and new controller.

it doesn't come up to the price of a car, and the point is to game, duh

w-well, this guy was clearly a poorfag with no serious love for the genre

you can play 4:3s if you like as well. hell, as a poorfag i'm playing on 16:9 and 16:10 combo with small offset so the bar is further from the center.

i'm playing racing sims a lot and recently i started practicing for real-life go-kart event on rentals. i think i already spent more on those fucking karts than i did on my g27 wheel, and i haven't even participated in race event yet. any form of automobile fun is infinitely more expensive than a wheel and computer.

inb4, please don't pretend that driving car on the street is substitute for racing
