Because he kills people for his own personal gain, makes jokes while doing it, and presents himself as the good guy. Most video game protagonist have agendas like: saving the world, revenge, protecting the whatever, following orders,survival. Drake kills hundreds of people before the main villian and his goal are usually established, and even then his primary motivation isn't stopping them, but beating them to the treasure

Didn't all the villains have some really bad intentions though. The first guy was gonna take the cursed treasure that turned dudes into crazy strong zombies to civilization, the second guy was gonna become and immortal hulk or whatever and the old lady from the first was pretty much doing the same thing as the first dude

Yea, but like I said those things get revealed near the end of the game, by then Drake has already killed hundreds of people because they were in his way.
