It's not what it lacks, but that 90% of the game must be stripped out in order for it to resemble somewhat of a fighting game. It's not that it's not a competitive game, nearly anything can be a competitive game, it's just not a fighting game.

Surprised Arcana Heart is that high. Only played the original ps3 western release of Arcana Heart 3, how are the newer revisions? AH3 is probably one of my favourite fighting games of all time (as well as VF5FS).

That would make sense if you never actually played video games, but it isn't. The balance is out of whack, OD is terrible, ODGC is terrible, EAs are terrible.
There's points where you can be "above" the screen, and if the percentages/stock count was there it would be more difficult to play. There's very rare times when some shenanigans might go on under a stage, but it happens so infrequently that it's obvious which should be considered in terms of placement

The layout fighting games have is fine since they not only have lifebars of special meters too. It's uncluttered and is beneficial is you use peripheral.

Like Kingdom Hearts? I guess so. I think Pokken does that, and it works perfectly fine. It would just be a matter of developers breaking away from fighting game standards in HUD.
