No the game was edgelord trash. Velvet was an awful unjustifyable protagonist and the only character that had any reason to actually stick around was laphi. The others were put there to pad the character count and the story was built around rhat.

Its sadly true though. The main cast, particularly the girls, are pretty shallow and generic. People like them more because they are built around being endearing, which is what waifufags usually want.
That is why someone like Velvet, by comparison, gets a lot of hate. She was built as a character first, so she isn't designed to be immediately likeable, which puts more people off.

I was going to post that as well, but, thinking about it again, Nier's characters, story and storytelling is pretty different from the more conventional approach of games like Berseria and Persona. Imo, the target audience of Berseria is nearer to the target audience of Persona than the Nier's one.
But, yeah, OP is fucking dumb and compared 2 completely different battle systems for no fucking reason.

This. I played all 3 and honestly Berseria is still my favorite game of 2017 so far. All three have different target audiences though.
