RTS is a genre made for PC thus its racist
>normis
Tell us, for you are one of them.
I BUILD FOR CHINA
First you see me
Now you're dead
HEHE VERY ECONOMICAL
DOING WHAT'S RIGHT,
I still play Zero hour to this day.
...
PRESERVING FREEDOM
doesn't normis play mobas?
too hard
>why don't non-autist play autist tailored games?
coh 2 is fun
You don't shoot people. Pretty gay.
they didn't want to fix interface issues because it's pro to have interface issues.
the other reason is that the market for PC players lacked ""nomis"" in the past.
I'll make the sacrifice
IT IS HOT IN HERE!
mobas modified and simplified them and made it actually enjoyable, RTS is a confusing boring piece of shit.
you're correct about MOBAs being simplified but they're not any less confusing.
MOBAs are just route memorization simulators. Actually, it's like they took all the problems with RTS and condensed them into a fucking game.
holy shit, how did that not make a contrversie
times were different (as in no sjws in power and no mudslimes)
Besides... check the german version
It did tho
>there will never be a game where you control a faction like the GLA again
Shockwave mod?
>live in germany
>changed the bomb guyto a barrel
>no shit it is a fucking barrel on rolls full of tnt
Too many apm for casuals. They had to make a game out of a mod for wc3 cause people were too scared and dumb to learn build order and strat
I've played shockwave a little bit but mostly just play AoD maps online on the standard version
whats going on in this thread
>confusing
In what way is "build shit, destroy the enemy's shit" confusing?
Only shit like CS and diablo 2 was more normalfag than RTS here in northern europe. It was probably the biggest PC genre of all back in 95-2007 or so.
Strategy games are normie you fucking retard, of course you can't even spell the word so the meaning is lost to you.
Anyone who uses "normie" is literally a redditor. How is this not common knowledge yet?
Just a truck bro
shut up normie
a modern-day set Wargame with proper matchmaking and competent devs would be successful as all hell
I miss when those plus a soviet mine did just enough damage to kill a 640 health tank in one hit. Felt like pure justice for all those teller mines my light vehicles got destroyed by.
>head bobbing
>RTS
RTS's are mechanically uninvolving until very high level play. The depth comes from thought, stuff like planning strategies and resource management. Seeing as most people play games to switch off and entertain themselves on some easily consumable media, that level of engagement puts them off.
What game?
They are too dumb for RTS.
Herachy was soo OP in this game, by the time the enemy set up his base, you could already overrun him with your walker and your plasma granade launching alien space marines.
They're games that merge together EVERY SKILL you can develop in videogames.
Speed
Strategy
Tactics
Mindgames
Psychological warfare
Teamwork
Resource managing
Time managing
Planning
Quick thinking
Quick reflexes
Spatial awareness
It's too demanding for normies. Shit, they're too demanding for Sup Forums pasties too.
warzone was such a good game
youtube.com
Underrated game as fuck
I like RTS, but I'm way too dumb for SupCom, which is from what I hear the pinnacle of the genre.
Any tips for a first timer?
I play CoH 1 almost every day
Probably Universe at War.
Its Ayy Lmaos vs Animu Mecha vs Atlanteans.
Its pretty fun.
people complain about apm, but if you can type 60 wpm that's around 200 apm. it's almost always your brain that's too slow, not your hands.
It used to be THE normie genre here in germany.
Thanks
Because they can play MOBAs and get the same satisfaction for a fraction of the mental taxation.
Universe at war
Ambitious RTS project with robots, aliens and atztec gods fighting on earth.
It's fun for the first few hours but then you will notice that the game is unfinished as heck and as a result of it the ballance is completely fucked.
Also they had to butcher the campaign, thats why the last missions are litteraly skirmish matches.
being put in a position of (perceived) personal safety while making cold calculating decisions on life and death and social development isn't very apolitical and people can't go around gushing about destroying X country or getting so many helpless minions killed.
besides not being hands-on turns people off.
Don't get scared, it's not like it demands you to learn an ISO manual or some shit.
Cap as much mass extractors as you can and harass the enemy ones.
Set up 2factories and one air base at first
Don't overdo the production if you can't keep up with the Mass Extractors yield. You're going to get bottlenecked and gonna have to cancel or shut down some working factories
Every tier and every unit has a niche to use; they're better at each tier but also exponentially more costly in energy drain AND mass
Never ever stop building Power. At tier 2 you will get the big Energy Facilities.
Mass Fabricators consume a shitton of Energy to have them running in the background, that's why Mass Extractors lying on the ground are better to use early on
The tiny connections that are made between adjacent buildings mean shared bonuses between them: Power Plants around a factory means less energy consumption cost for whatever is getting produced there, same for Mass Fabricators
Power Plants explode violently when shot. Mass Fabricators even more. Mind your buildings and defenses as you don't want an enemy doing a domino effect on your ass
HAVE F U N
Play the tutorials and then play against AI working your way up when you win. Once you are fast at working with the game, go online on FAF to play against actual people and develop your mind games.
I feel like there has never been a game that was such a mix of fun and complete, intolerable bullshit that was Zero Hour. Fuck tunnel spam, fuck stealth GLA, fuck super weapon general's EMP weapons, fuck rocket helix rush, fuck kiting humvees full of rocket troops, fuck Black Lotus, just fuck it. Fuck this whole game.
But in spite of that it was a lot of fun.
The best RTS you can learn and have serious FUN learning them are
Age of Empires 2 and expansions
SupCom Forged Alliance
Company of Heroes (complete)
Starcraft 1/2 (with expansions)
Homeworld 2
HW: Deserts of Kharak
Rise of Nations
Command and Conquer (many titles here, I love Firestorm and Red Alert)
Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne
Dawn of FUCKING War DC/SS
>Divine Intervention playing on the background
> fuck kiting humvees full of rocket troops
It never gets old. Also the Chinese Troop Transports full of mini-gunners. Love me some OP infantry.
They do. They play Fifa.
before the mine changes normal mines used to just be wipe city. I think the best mines now are anti-vehicle mines, since they don't get wasted killing 2 infantry models and alerting your opponent to you being a minebro. the best way to be a massive faggot is with USF M20 mines I think, most people don't even sweep against USF
demos are still fun for cheese wiping unkillable vet 5 okw faggot shit, especially UK/USF demos, nobody expects that shit
>mfw can't into C&C:G Contra
How do I learn this mod without the AI raping me in the first 5 minutes? Same thing happens when I play Edain BFME
I loved these as a kid but now I feel like they're a big waste of time. I'd rather play against a human opponent and there are lots of competitive games. It's not fun knowing the AI is retarded or is only difficult because it has a bunch of stat bonuses
why don't normies own strategy paintings?
>I'd rather play against a human opponent and there are lots of competitive games. It's not fun knowing the AI is retarded or is only difficult because it has a bunch of stat bonuses
>This guy doesn't play RTS MP at all
thinkgaming.com
>$2,052,421 DAILY REVENUE ESTIMATE
>Absolutely love RTS games
>only problem is that they drag out too long and a worth while battle only lasts for 4 minutes and once the small skirmish is over all teams go back into hiding for 10+ minutes
This is the problem RTS games are having, they just aren't fast enough.
ANY GAME THAT WAS RELEASED BEFORE 2014 DOESN'T EXIST
AND THAT'S BEING GENEROUS
LELEL DED GAEM DED GAEM
ENJOY UR DED GAEM
Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this game hasn't aged very well at all????
literally unplayable
>wtf how do I know which guys are even good
WHERE ARE MY WAIFUS
That's why.
I'm playing company of heroes 2 and the voices just don't cut it. I never realized how goddamn nice it was to be able to click on a squad and know by the soundbyte alone what unit I'd selected.
Because the only good RTS games are RA2, EE1, AoM, and AOE1
Everything else is shit. Fight me
Rise of Legends, Company of Heroes 1, Supreme Commander.
Why is Ashes of the Singularity shit?
coh 1 doesn't have russian tank waifus though
what's wrong with it
Ah yeah, COH1. I played the shit outta that one but once they shit on the franchise with COH2 I forgot.
Excellent taste.
nice
And Sudden Strike + 2
>muh casuls
IDK senpai, but I keep being told it's a very expensive benchmarker and boring game.
There are always hardcore boyz in these threads who've beaten some of the hardest RTS campaigns on max difficulty, I challenge anyone reading this to torrent Paraworld and try to beat mission 11 on Hard. My dick has been kicked six ways from Sunday.
>quit wow again
>check vidya game board for at do now?
>RTS not normie
>love rts
>what is wrong with me
Because the genre got taken over by autists who want to play the same exact game over and over and over again.
Show me a link to a download that wont take me literally 2 days and I'll think about it.
Warcraft IIII will save the rts genre.
Its a shame this won't run on Windows 10. One of my favourite RTS games ever.
Part of the reason why this genre died and modern games died for me is due to level progression and especially meaningless level progression that forces repetition and min/maxing.
I haven't found the same satisfaction from any other game after dropping a nuke on a medieval age sucka in Empire Earth
>Empire Earth
my nigga, i need to replay this again
German campaign was the shit
youtube.com
DONGGGGGG
>[WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!!!!!]
Because it stops being fun when you need 200 apm to be competitive or simply ward off early cheese.
First, I don't think I can post those types of links here, second, two days isn't bad, you don't have to sit there and watch it.
It slows down everything else I am doing though.
fuck off normalfag
It takes two days and still slows down everything else you're doing? It sounds like with your internet it'll take two days no matter what. Do you kill the upload speed like a true torrenter to stay speedy?
do people unironically think this
Am I the only person who preferred AoE 3 to AoE 2?
And while I'm at it, Empire Earth 2 was objectively better than it's predecessor.
>Am I the only person who preferred AoE 3 to AoE 2?
probably
Try pic related on Brutal.
I don't think any other RTS came close to the tech tree of this one. Takes like 2 hours just to research everything.
My name is methos?
Dang tough. I've beaten it though, to be honest a lot of the earlier missions were harder than the later, particularly with Empire. This, though...haven't been able to beat.
How the fuck do you not get the game to mismatch, even when it's a fresh install on LAN it still fucks up
