>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does. They'll still be talking about how gorgeous it is, how smart and funny its main character is, how it succeeded commercially in the shadow of a new Nintendo console and a new "Legend of Zelda" game.
>While playing games, I often experience a small handful of emotions: frustration, accomplishment, fear. While playing "Horizon Zero Dawn," that list expanded dramatically - outside of delighting in the graceful, smart gameplay systems that underlie the game's narrative focus, I often laughed out loud at Aloy's smart quips (she's the protagonist you see above). I found myself endlessly curious about the surprisingly deep lore of the game's world, its people and religions, and the main character's story arc. Perhaps most important of all, I actually cared about the main character, believed her motivations, and wanted her to succeed.
>"Horizon Zero Dawn" is a magnificent accomplishment of a game that stands out among standouts. And I didn't even mention the giant metal dinosaurs.
Christian Gomez
>Horizon is better than BotW
Tell me news.
Adam Ramirez
I don't even know what this literally who game is now lol
Cameron Lee
HZD is a boring overrated shit fest with medicore combat
Carson Thomas
>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does.
They definitely won't. It will be forgotten about in a year.
Jaxson Torres
And yet, being this wonderfully fantastic masterpiece the developer can't make a camera which sticks Aloy to the left side of the screen permanently. Now the she's randomly on the right side all the fucking time and you need to either aim with bow or use the magic device to reset her position. Resident Evil 4 had this already fixed for fuck sake.
Also the camera is way too close to her anyway.
It took several months for the developer to add a fucking camera sensitivity slider.
This is why I hate AAA games. It's fucking retarded.
Luke Gutierrez
Combat in Horizon is way cooler than BotW though, you have a lot of synergies between weapons.
Thomas Edwards
>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does I don't even know how big of a retard you have to be to believe this. It's definitely not GOTY, it'll either be BOTW or Nier: Tomato Ketchup. >inb4 Nintendo shill My personal GOTY is between Persona 5 and Gravity Rush 2
Jeremiah Reed
>>In 10 years People literally forgot about it 2 weeks later
Robert Powell
I confirm.
Camden Cooper
>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does. They've stopped talking about it now.
Josiah Allen
It has been straight up 6 months since I've even heard about this game. Most forgettable PS4 exclusive there is.
Eli Young
>They'll still be talking about how gorgeous it is, how smart and funny its main character is
Isaac Watson
Women can be smart and funny, Wendy.
Gabriel Peterson
>10 years later >Playstation exclusive
o i am laffin'
Chase Garcia
I like the game, but nah, the character is far from memorable. Serviceable and decent, yes, but nothing outstanding.
Dominic Lopez
People stopped talking about it within a week or two, what the fuck is this fag even talking about? Innovative? It's an ABC of open world games, this is why people don't take numales seriously. Horizon was nothing but a huge virtue signal from the devs, from Sony and for others like "journalists" to heap praise on and put it on lists of games done "right".
Lucas Morris
How big is the difference between Pro an the standard PS4 version from performance?
Liam Hill
>how it succeeded commercially in the shadow of a new Nintendo console and a new "Legend of Zelda" game. It wasn't though, the game was being discounted like the month after it came out.
Henry Murphy
Dont you guys ever get tired of these asscreeds copy pastes.
Sebastian Mitchell
This is just getting sad, now. Why is the industry so damn determined to push Alloy and her shitty game so hard? I just don't get it.
Jeremiah Rivera
As big as the differences between my cock and yours
Oliver Lee
>no no guiz its forgotten >still in headlines today
sad weebs, nier nioh and persona 5 already gone without a thought
Jonathan Collins
The guy playing here is clearly too used to the BotW aim.
Joshua Perez
this game was only even really popular with sissy eurofaggots
l m a o
Brandon Thomas
thanks for reminding me this game exists
Luke Flores
How big is your dick?
Caleb Hughes
But, like, isn't it really basically just Witcher 3 with a forced female lead? Didn't half the crew of Witcher work on it or something?
Luke Cook
>implying someone wasn't paid to put HZD in the first spot Playerunknown's battlegrounds is in 3rd place. Why would anyone take this shit seriously?
Caleb Peterson
>innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does
care to name one?
Jayden Peterson
Because some odd 4mil sales must mean something went right regardless of if you(we) like it. It's common sense that when you have a cash cow you don't let that shit bloat, you squeeze the milk, man. Look at Mario, Halo, Zelda, Forza, you don't have to like any of those franchises but if it sells, it'll keep going.
Noah Gomez
>calling HZD haters weebs when the only appeal your female protag game could possibly have is if you were sexually attracted to the woman, unless you literally wish you were a woman and enjoy pretending to be one like a crossdressing faggot
top fucking kek
Jaxson Diaz
>implying I have to like the protagonist and not the gameplay
Weeb confirmed
Tyler Kelly
>still in headlines today Where exactly?
Brody Torres
>HZD came out before BoTW >this was taken during the stream made prior to HZD full release
Josiah Moore
>how smart and funny its main character is
bithc please, I HAVE NEPTUINA FOR THAT
Dylan Bailey
HZD had an interesting setting and story which made me want to play till the end but the gameplay was utter garbage.
Easton Nguyen
Horizon is hyped up B game that occasionally looks nice in screenshots.
Asher Evans
>>calling HZD haters weebs when the only appeal your female protag game could possibly have is if you were sexually attracted to the woman
Wrong the appeal is great gameplay, now go back to jerking off to Neptunia or some other weeb shit
Juan Wood
Because they are trying to justify a lot of things by marking it as a "success" such as
1) female leads in AAA games 2) massively inflated production costs 3) new IPs being given production costs to rival established IPs 4) HD graphcis still being more important than innovative gameplay ideas, and the main selling point in games period
People think this is about gender politics or sony vs. nintendo but it isn't, HZD is being pushed as a success because it reinforces the wobbling status quo in the game industry, the same status quo that's been raping the industry for quite some time, but keeps the super rich publishers super rich, and drowning out any creativity because of impossibly inflated production costs
It sounds goofy but its the lamented indie hipsters who have done this
Eli Cruz
Why does the arrow just fly straight. There's like no arc to it.
Michael Johnson
plx rply
need to know
Liam Butler
>this was taken during the stream made prior to HZD full release >one of the last quests
You're delusional.
Leo Ramirez
I'm waiting until someone I know gets a Switch so I can give them my extra copy of Botw, I don't even play my copy anymore but fuck it.
Jaxon Ortiz
dude i hate weebs but your game is gay as shit
id play tomb raider or mirrors edge but this is just full homo, the protagonist looks like some hippie ANTIFA slut who would get her shit bashed in the moment the world stops being a civilized patriarchy
Andrew Fisher
No, he's right, it was days before the game officially came out, Sup Forums had stream threads where we were all laughing at this shit, so by the time the game came out many on Sup Forums knew all the game had to offer and it's storyline.
Brandon Thomas
>the protagonist looks like some hippie ANTIFA slut who would get her shit bashed in the moment the world stops being a civilized patriarchy
You mean Zelda?
Jackson Gray
>i didn't play it but here are a bunch of Sup Forums buzzwords
Henry Ross
>he's right >quoting yourself
GOTTA GET A GRIP user
Aaron Johnson
i dont know why too they zoom the camera to right behind her back whenever she enters a town.
Evan Peterson
I mean, we all know it won't get GOTY, but holy damn, if it did, I would spend the entire day on Sup Forums, the only place that would just foam at the mouth from those results.
Evan Thompson
>Innovative Killing dinosaurs made out of metal is innovative now? This is becoming desperate.
Josiah Rodriguez
sure i dont care for that game either
Jason Rogers
It would be great, but it will not happen the asspain would be great to see
Justin Jenkins
>outside of delighting in the graceful, smart gameplay systems that underlie the game's narrative focus, I often laughed out loud at Aloy's smart quips I bet this guy unironically enjoys watching Marvel movies
Jaxson Young
I already forgot it. No one really talks about it.
Kayden Bailey
It has a diverse cast of characters, and a woman in the lead role.
Meanwhile, Zelda is mostly white dudes, and still insists on having a male link because "tradition."
>b-but Gerudo Ah yes, we need even more Arabic stereotypes in gaming.
Leo Jones
really makes you think
Kayden Barnes
you mean the guy that fall of the mountain at the final boss
Jaxson Williams
Ironic shitposting is still shitposting, my love
Parker Cruz
Who said this? That's right, I didn't think so.
Asher Nguyen
>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does. one random article is saying that about Horizon while a bunch of other articles and developers are saying the same thing about BOTW and the way it aproaches open world gameplay.
not even nintendofag, I have a PS4 but nobody gives a shit Horizon. It's one of those games that generate money but doesn't have any relevance on the long run or videogames in general.
Brandon Bell
>Ben Gilbert >Cares about the story and characters >Doesn't mention the gameplay Sounds like your average sonybro.
Zero Dark Deep Horizon oil fire will be forgotten in a year and not be on any top 10 lists. It's not as bad as The Last of Us which will be number 1, in most overrated game of all time, but better to be forgotten by history than remembered like that.
Also didn't Sony already bin the game?
Colton Moore
Guys real talk even if it isnt the best game is it still alright? Like would you say it is above average or just garbage?
Wyatt Phillips
>the autism is too strong doc, I can't help it
Parker Morris
Everything Guerrilla Games produces is garbage. They're a shit developer. Do not believe their lies.
Isaac Sullivan
If you have a playstation 4 I don't see any reason to not buy it.
Andrew Hughes
its a good game but zelda fanboys will rage about anything this game does
Elijah Garcia
>Forgot about Horizon prior to release >Heard nobody talk about it post release My own experience obviously but really, who cares about the game?
Evan Smith
>people will still be talking about innovative thing ...such as?
Logan Foster
yea if you go out of your way to avoid a game that will happen
James Foster
>While playing games, I often experience a small handful of emotions: frustration, accomplishment, fear.
Was this written by a mental cripple?
Liam Long
>frustration, accomplishment, fear Sounds like a job or even worse. Maybe this nigga should just not play video games
Cooper Russell
does new game plus on the new difficulty make you gather a fuckton of resources? and are craftables like arrows and line traps still require the same amount resources to craft or more because it's of the higher difficulty? gathering resources in that game was the thing that killed the pace for me, the rest was fine. I never exactly had an issue gathering funding resources or running out, but I dreaded having every now and then having to take time to gather stuff when the numbers of resources started to get low, it was fun for the first 10 hours but gathering shit after that just because tedious, not to mention resource management in those menus where annoying.
I haven't played this game since I beat it two weeks after it came out so I don't know what they've changed other than the addition of new game plus.
Gabriel Turner
Doubt you'd notice much of an arc at that distance, but then again the arrows seem to be travelling slower
Kevin Nelson
Dude that entire list is retarded and you know it. >inJUSTice2 better than tekken 7 Fuck off.
Sebastian Gutierrez
Rise of the Tomb Raider is better than this shit
Evan Perez
>implying it's not
Tekken 7 is the worst release to date that's nothing more than a half assed story mode and online. Many features previous in other titles were either outright removed (team battle) or downgraded (ghost mode because treasure mode and character customization) it's an exact repeat of the blunder that was SFV but it gets a special exception because it's the first time it's on PC.
Lincoln Johnson
cool meme go back to /vg/ and cry and have no arguments
Jackson Jones
>innovative things
>like?
>...Uhhh muh graphics
Every fucking time.
Thomas Stewart
Exactly. It's not that frustration, accomplishment and fear are small things, they're exciting at best, but games are mostly worlds of subtle feeling (which doesn't apply to most work, which is about filling an inhuman gap in a machine). The way the scrolling backgrounds of platformers make us feel is pretty subtle almost entirely beyond words, and this effect is a part of every art form. Someone who loves games would emphasize this, and they wouldn't call it a "small handful of feelings". That just sounds like a small-handed person is talking.
Imagine translating music or movies into purely frustration, accomplishment and fear. A lot is missing from that. What about delight at a beautiful illusion, how promising something appears? There's actually a lot of alien feelings to be found in art if you know how to feel it in your body.
Hunter Watson
It is nice to look at. Players like Far Cry Primal to me. It has a lot of mechanics in the game that they never explain and have to find out by yourself. The combat is fairly simple and you do spend a decent amount of time collecting things to upgrade. The animations are pretty bad.
I bought it at release for $60, played it, beat it and then never picked it up again. If you can get it for $20, I say it's worth it
Christopher Powell
>kidsole shitware >goty
Elijah Roberts
so you can ride robots in farcry
Levi Perry
horizon is better than zelda.
deal with it.
Joseph Gomez
Yeah, but just one at first. It's been a while since I've played it, so I don't remember what they're called. But you go into caves/spaceships and clear those to unlock the overrides for all the metal animals. But you can only ever ride like 5 different types
Jayden Richardson
No, ithe plays like Far Cry Primal. The only mounts you get in Far Cry are the bear and Sabertooth of I remember correctly.
Hunter Wright
the HZD fans are literally the most butthurt demographic on this board, lol
every thread on hzd (which they make) is FILLED with their tears
Easton Rivera
>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does. nobody talks about the game now, what makes you think a console exclusive launch title that is already dead will still be talked about?
Noah Scott
you sound fucking retarded
Isaiah Thomas
>In 10 years, people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does.
People have stopped talking about it days after it came out because it couldn't even manage to prevent itself from being overshadowed by Nintendo's babbys first open world game
Samuel Roberts
If not for the shills on Sup Forums I would've forgotten Horizon exists entirely
Dylan Butler
Thanks
Austin Ortiz
this
Connor Smith
>HZD tops the list >butthurt
sorry zeldafag, but your 20fps tablet adventure can fuck off :)
Elijah Martin
>people
Sup Forums isn't people, user
Landon Brooks
>shills
Jaxson Russell
honestly its easy to tell
i think its someone who was close to the project and is super sour Sup Forums thinks it's forgettable
Dominic Carter
>people will still be talking about innovative things that "Horizon Zero Dawn" does.
like what?
Jordan Sanchez
It's like 4 meters away at most. You'd have to be using a really shit bow to have the arrow drop that fast. This is a future bow used to hunt giant robot dinosaurs, it would presumably have pretty good draw strength.
