Late adopters are going to be fucked. Rank 1 is fucking empty so there's barely anyone to fight so you can rank up to where an active player-base is.
I only bought the game last week and unlocked Ranked mode yesterday. It took me over fifteen minutes just to fight one opponent.
I tried again today and after five minutes got matched against the exact same person.

Yeah, that's what happens when you have a shitty inconsistent RNG fest disguised as a fighting game.

Don't they just Rank with whatever's closest? I got ranked against a Rank 6 on my second match, and at Rank 12, sometimes I get ranked against babs.

The Media Create sales has it sitting in 2nd place on its 3rd week (after taking 1st place in Week 1 and 2).

It'll be interesting to see what NPD sales say about it, but it is also selling well digitally placing in top 3 in NA, Europe and Japanese eShops respectively well into its 3rd week.

I got it on release. Played it a whole bunch for a couple of days. But then I injured my arms and I was strongly recommended not to play any games at least two weeks until it was fully healed.
And now I am already behind and the game is updating.

I'll try my best to catch up but it leaves me kind of anxious to be honest.

There's just nothing to talk about

Make use of charging your arms and don't abuse grabbing.

Look for options to grab (like when the opponent is shielding or if they attempted a rush attack and you dodge in time and are close enough to get a grab).

Make use of dashing to mess with the AI, you can charge attacks if you hold dash for a full session.

You also get a small charge when you land.

You can dash out of you guard with charged arms and set up 1 swing to try and get the AI to go the opposite direction, where you can swing your 2nd arm to hit them.

Know when to guard against rush attacks or strong arms yourself.

Those are the fundamentals as far as I know them.

Also you can cancel a swing of your arms by turning on rush attack mid-swinging.

did you play the tutorials in versus mode? those are pretty good for the basics. here's a couple tips
>try not to throw double punches, keep one arm free to break grabs or block punches
>if you're desperate and have both arms down you can blow your rush move to quickly retract them. its good for blocking rushes or punishing grabs

I was on vacation, so I haven't played it in a while, is it actually hard to find a ranked match now?

Grabbing should generally be limited to times where your opponent has both their arms indisposed
Even whiffed punches will build meter, be aggressive
Don't forget that you have a block
You shouldn't try to throw out a super when your opponent is holding onto both their arms since the freeze will give any decent player enough time to put up a block
You can cancel out of anything into a super as long as your arms aren't out of commission
Combine the above two tips: use grabs to bait out single punches, then immediately cancel into a super to fuck your opponent's shit up. In my experience, this works best while you're in mid-air, since you run less of a risk of getting your super cancelled by a curving punch

I never see japanese dudes in ranked, despite seeing a couple in every party lobby. The ranked matchmaking is probably regional so it all depends on whether you live in a shithole and are really high. I don't play Ranked anymore but I never had trouble finding games in west us.
