>Sup Forums gets triggered and reeeeees about muh church muh reddit muh fedora
>Sup Forums just complains about Ellis
>Sup Forums says it's not anime and deletes the thread
>they all say take it to Sup Forums
What's going on
Castlevania
>expecting anything from Sup Forums and Sup Forums these days
What did you expect?
>>Sup Forums says it's not anime and deletes the thread
Well they're not wrong, even if they're the type of fags who probably watched it in Japanese.
Sup Forums is literally the only board that actually discusses this cartoon.
We just had a Sup Forumstard shit up the last thread so I think Sup Forums is just a bad place to discuss anything decent.
>[slurping continues]
>[Bishop groans]
>Sup Forums
Is a worthless board anyway and their opinions mean nothing.
>Sup Forums
Is locked in a constant battle between tumblr-lites and Sup Forumstards over inane shit.
>Sup Forums
To be fair, they're technically right. It has an anime style, but it's not true anime because it wasn't produced in Japan by a Japanese studio. It's "anime" in the same vein as Avatar or Voltron Legendary Defender.
STUNNING FIVE FRAMES PER SECOND
Good thing Castlevania fans aren't mustards.
I hope S2 has more of a budget, they could really do with some more inbetween frames.
>it's not true anime because it wasn't produced in Japan by a Japanese studio
Thunderbolt Fantasy was well recieved on Sup Forums. And rightfully so, it's a great show.
Just because the source material is videogames doesn't make this series vidya so discussing it doesn't belong here
That scene was pretty kino.
and hot af
Either way its trash
>Characters that look awful but backrounds are still and decent so nothing feels like it belongs
>Animations are alright but look like they're normally at .5x speed so it all looks laggy and sloppy
>Character development is atrocious it takes like 10 seconds for Trevor to care again
Its not good. The gore is alright but everything else about it is lack luster and half assed.
Eh, I thought the action scenes were mostly pretty awesome.
>Sup Forums
discarded
>Ellis
Who and why getting mad about this person?
That had Urobuchi connection to open the floodgates of discussion.
*tips pope hat*
Rate this show
9/10 i loved it and cant wait for season 2
If only one connection is that is needed then Castlevania should be discussed on Sup Forums as well. The connection being the anime aestetics.
Thunderbolt fantasy and most non-Japanese east asian animation are in a weird gray area
In theory they should be discussed on Sup Forums but there's more interest overlap in Sup Forums so all the discussion occurs there
>I loved it and cant wait for season 2
This and please, more than four episodes for the season 2!
He's the writer and Sup Forums hates everyone but Grant Morrison because muh all star Superman
Why does it all look slowed down? Or atleast a majority of it?
7.5/10 shows a lot of promise but ended just as shit was starting to get really good.
Not really how it works on there user
Wasn't impressed with the animation too much until the action scenes. Seems they dumped all their budget into them.
Overall, I liked it though. Not afraid to show babies getting eaten as Drac' has his demons swarming over the country
Already confirmed for eight episodes, will probably finish the CV3 storyline and set up whatever they do next.
The artist made one too few exchange of blows so the ones that were made just had to be slowed down.
oldfag Sup Forumsmrade here, and I honestly have no fucking clue why they're getting so pissy about Ellis, I thought he did a decent job.
I've never read a Warren Ellis comic that I did not enjoy in one way or another, and I know most of Sup Forums felt the same way at a certain point.
But I guess this current wave on Sup Forums are the kind fucks that put the orange clown in the in charge of the US, so being mad at Ellis wouldn't be beyond them.
Warren Ellis. He's a pretty prolific comic writer who is (or was) regarded as being pretty good. His best known work is probably Transmetropolitan, a cyberpunk comic about a Hunter S. Thompson-like gonzo journalist.
To be fair Ellis had a really weird setup for the show. Castlevania didn't really have that many evil churches in the games.
Show was still great though, 9/10 for me.
Urobuchi was directly involved in the production though
Castlevania is purely Korean/American produced, the only thing Japanese about it is the IP
If that's enough to make it Sup Forums then Sonic Boom should belong there too
Sup Forums would rather have discussions about shit like Total Drama Island and My Littlest Petshop than discuss anything good. Keep in mind that board also hated Shin Godzilla; they have really bizarre taste.
Wasn't Shaft an evil priest? Evil cults have featured in at least three games. Heck, OoE had a corrupt priest as the main bad guy. Also the plot of CV3 was that the church was reluctant to get Trevor's help because they feared his power. Not that much of a stretch.
Speaking of it being Korean, isn't the Korean word for cartoons "Anime" as well?
>muh church, muh fedora
Nice to see that majority of this site's user base has devolved into social justice trigger-niggers with massive victim complex.
>muh Ellis
Did nothing wrong.
>not anime
Wrong. There's nothing in the word "anime" that implies the actual practical source of origin. It implies a loosely defined set of aesthetic traits and this one arguably goes for them.
>what's going on
Neo-imageboard culture. The internet became mainstream. It's cool to be whiny asshole nowadays as long as you can stutter something about political correctness and dealing with "it".
The show's okay. It won't stun anybody but it's not garbage.
Better an orange clown then killary. Maybe you should stick to comic books and not talk about adult topics you know nothing about.
>demons getting lewded before Sypha
ITS NOT FAIR
Which Castlevania games are the best options for someone who has almost no exposure to the series?
He still IS, you chalk the hate of his work on Castlevania up to ttard.
That's current Sup Forums, anyway. Hell, back when Sup Forums was filled with nothing except moeshit and absolutely nothing else, refugees from there would have very pleasant and civil discussions on Sup Forums about great anime and recommended lists and the such.
>There's nothing in the word "anime" that implies the actual practical source of origin.
The common and accepted usage of the word in western language is "Japanese animation".
reply was
Almost all of them really, they're mostly standalone affairs. I'd say the first if you want a old school challenge or SotN if you want a bit more RPG in your vania.
Castlevania 1, 3, Super CV4 and Rondo are all good platformers to check out.
Symphony of the Night, Order of Ecclesia, Portrait of Ruin (you should consider playing Bloodlines first) and Aria/Dawn of Sorrow are all good metroidvanias.
Mind you there are other titles I like as well, such as COTM, Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness, but those have some issues with bland level design.
>not anime
It's not anime, it's western anime
I hope the Japs deliver on some good Sypha doujins.
Wakfu is French anime with some of the work done in Japan, it's more a style/genre now more than an origin point, also because quite a few anime have been done in Korea, too.
>No lewds of her peeing in a bucket
Not even fair my guy.
We're gonna get some watersports, I reckon.
Call it what ever you want, it doesn't belong on Sup Forums.
Barlowe wasn't really a preist. His plan from the very beginning was to revive Dracula, he was always a batshit cultist. But yeah, you got me on Shaft, haven't played SOTN in awhile and people HAVE been saying the corrupt preist resembles Shaft. So who knows maybe there is a reason.
What did that bishop do to incur the wrath of a bunch of demons in the first place? Also if god exists in that universe why does he allow the demons to exist if he doesn't love them? This is fucking retarded.
Bad news, CV has pretty much always been fujo-dominated in Japan. Expect TrevorxAlucard if anything.
So how come Trevor isn't called Ralph in the Japanese version?
It's still possible to have that if the OP is good at wording stuff and not making it look like bait. Or even disguising it as somewhat related and having quite a bit of fair discussion on a bigger front.
I've noticed this a couple of times. The only times I've been able to discuss EVA without boogymanning and memes is when the thread is low-key dying slowly or when the OP is vaguely related.
I had some decent FLCL discussion with some anons about themes and music in a thread asking what songs we'd like to see in the new seasons and that thread lasted for two days.
Sure it has some style of anime, but it's still considered western animation. The show isn't allowed on Sup Forums
I'd still consider Wakfu a western cartoon. I mean, Batman TAS had several episodes animated by Sunrise but you wouldn't really call it anime would you?
Sup Forums doesnt seem to outright hate pseudo anime stuff, they simply try to follow the rules in a autistic way.
He killed a woman who wanted to help people with medicine and lied about the justifications for doing so, saying she was a witch.
I think going off the rest of your post, though, you're just determined to hate the show so I'm not sure why I'm bothering to reply.
This desu. Sup Forums will acknowledge that there's good Western cartoons with anime artstyles or anime inspirations, but Sup Forums still won't allow the discussion of that stuff there.
There's a ton of sexual tension between them, I'm very okay with this.
Emulate this, you can unlock the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night for a nice mix of classic and metroidvania and both are great games
EROTIC VIOLENCE
Sadly Symphony is in a weird window'd mode in this version and they changed the voice acting (its still fine, but not as cheesy bad).
Fucking loved Dracula X Chronicles though, Kojima is a brilliant artist. Wish more people here had actually bought the damn thing.
It also gets worse because they celebrate they day they did it to her. And the fucking bishop then deludes himself into believing it happened not because of him, but because people weren't pious enough. No one did anything to stop it either.
You can't help but side with Dracula when people are this really fucking retarded. Guy who hates humans, leaves them alone, and then learns to love one has her ripped away from him for doing the right thing. It's all sorts of fucked.
...
True, but Japan has had Korea produce anime, too.
All Star Superman isn't even good. Fucking Sup Forums has the worst taste.
I'm not, and I appreciate the answer. I just find it weird that the demons explain in detail gods opinions on the bishop and themselves. How do they know? Why are they allowed into the realm of man? They should've just left it at "God isn't here."
desu some things just work way better with cheesy or hammy voice acting like it's a play.
I love that the dude got the fuck out of town by that point and left to consolidate his power in another town. Such a dickhead move.
>You can't help but side with Dracula when people are this really fucking retarded. Guy who hates humans, leaves them alone, and then learns to love one has her ripped away from him for doing the right thing. It's all sorts of fucked.
That's the best part about this adaptation's characters, though. All four of our main charcters are despised, distrusted and hated for their birth. It's how they choose to deal with their situations that makes them heroes or villains. In Dracula's case, he allowed Lisa's death to validate his worldview, and then by his actions he validated the public's fear and hatred of both Dracula and Lisa herself.
Abuse of power including but not limited to burning innocents at the stake and strong arming the city through hired thugs in violence, throw in some pride and delusions and grandeur and you have someone that's strayed from the true path of God while also leading others astray
That's why the demon says the church is just an empty box
Silky smooth 8 frames per second
>its still fine
Instead of being cheesy it's just off and boring
Its a demon, they like to fuck with people. And they're allowed in the realm because, believe it or not, God allows horrible shit to happen all the time. And yet God is still protecting innocents, as seen by the holy water in episode 4.
My biggest problem is that they made Dracula sympathetic. He's a dick even before this happened, but they don't show that too well.
>She will never pee in a bucket and tell you it's beer
Just die in my sleep already
>crucified Jesus, the original Christian
>burned Lisa at the stake, a naturally loving woman who didn't even blame them for killing her
Why do the "good people" and the church always execute the ones that embody their values best?
The guys who were playing Dracula and Death in the original dub were clearly having a great time chewing the scenery.
I'd rather have well drawn, detailed 8 frames per second than shitty dbz super tier animation at 60 fps. But then again I'd just prefer both good animation and fps but oh well.
The skeletons didn't do that for you?
>The church are the ones who killed Christ
This, the keyframes are all gorgeous. I don't mind any of the action desu
Was Lisa retarded? Why did she marry Dracula, a renown fucker upper of mankind with a field of impaled skeletons outside of his castle?
>the "good people"
Dracula was actually trying to be a decent person because of her, if the Bishop hadn't fucked shit up who knows my man. 1400's pussy game is something fierce and Lisa was a 10/10.
Where the fuck is he? You would think it would make more sense to have Death appear before even Dracula. That church scene with the bishop would've made more sense with him than some fluorescent werewolf
>I'd rather have well drawn, detailed 8 frames per second
No, no you would not. Maybe 10-15.
>that teleport he did straight out of the games
Ahh this show had so many nice touches.
Bitches love vampires.
Idk, Sword of the Stranger can get pretty choppy at moments but I still love that movie.
she believed in le science ;^)
How the FUCK did Jesus embody the values of the roman empire, or even the jews?
They're trying to ease people in, you can't just throw in the goddamn grim reaper for the normies yet. Even though Lament of Innocence established him making a deal with death, this will probably not be touched upon until next season.
That being said, you totally know he's going to show up. He's almost certainly lurking in the castle itself.
Drac was on the path to changing his tune until asshole bishop decided to fuck things up for everyone.
>Actually, I’m not a gamer! And the awful truth is that I’ve never played or even seen the game. Terrible, isn’t it? When I was first contacted about Castlevania, some 10 years ago, I went to the internet to look it up, and what immediately struck me was how it initially appeared, to me, at least, to be a Japanese transposition of the Hammer Horror films I grew up with and loved. I’m sure that’s a completely wrong-headed perception, by the way, but that’s how it hit me, and how I realized I could write a medieval horror fiction while obeying the ground rules of the work being adapted.
why didn't he just write it like a Hammer movie in that case
That's why it's amazing.
I don't even think the 'What is a man' speech would be nearly as cool if it was even done by a hollywood voice.
Though to be honest I've always wanted to see that scene done in a high-budget cast becuase it has potential to be pretty poetic if expanded upon and done correctly.
>Dracula was traveling like a normal person instead of using his powers of chaos to travel so he didn't make it in time to save his wife, who was the reason he was traveling like a normal person
Ah irony
she wanted the Dracula
Thats literally slowed down
If they decide to do a SoTN season, I hope the Librarian is in it.
