Is this good? i want to find a fun mmorpg
It's pretty dated, you'll just have to play it to find out if you'll like it. Lots of people stick around for the nostalgia but its style of early mmorpg gameplay is easily off-putting for those that don't have fond memories of grinding all summer.
It wasn't even that fun when it was brand new years ago and there were better 2.5D MMOs out there.
It only became popular because it was one of the few non-MUD browser MMOs around it's era.
OSRS is fun, but loaded with the most cancerous faggots this side of the internet. Did you ever want the eternal bitterness of your average Sup Forumstard with a crunchy meme-spouting redditor's outer shell? You'll find dozens on OSRS.
Good time waster
Nobody really talks I swear they're all just botting, so no.
Yeah it's good. Lots of things to do at any given moment, best quests in any MMORPG period, incredibly simple but fun combat. The only problem it takes a LOT of time investment to reach goals. Maxing out a skill easily takes a month for most people. If you want to try it out I recommend it, but don't rush to try and get everything done, enjoy the journey.
that's because there's no underage people left
If you didn't play years ago, I would probably recommend playing RS3. I don't touch RS3, but OSRS is just for nostalgic purposes. New players probably won't be into it.
I think Sup Forums has its own private OSRS server. It has an exp bump iirc to make grinding less painful
so the general concencus isnt that good. what mmo could i play if not this?
It's good, but not as good as this 4
its dead
the magic is gone, the community is dead, everybodys just trying to grind out 99's, and it will never feel as alive as it did in the good old days
BDO is more or less the same
Runescape was made great by the novice community it had, trying to play it again with everyone being adult aged and knowing what they are doing ruins the game
Tbh just try it its a lot of fun lad, i have thousands of hours on it and it was and still a great game, just dont google everything and youll have a lot more fun.
Yeah it's 1.5x exp or something so you and the other 7 players don't spend too long grinding.
It's very different. Having classes instead of everything on one character sucks.
muh ehp is what killed the game.
the GE ultimately killed the game, with the EoC being the final nail in its coffin
before, people had to scrougne for quest items and stuff. Now they can just buy it all before setting out on the quest. Banks are pretty much empty, because everyone just goes to the GE because they dont want to barter. W1 is so goddamn deserted now its depressing
I miss those days.
>Everywhere you went, you could find players
>Worlds were full
>Nobody knew what they were doing, but no one cared because it was fun
>"No xp waste" didn't exist
I want to go back and relive 2007-2012.
>no more "Buying laws, 1k"
GE didnt kill the game the trade limitations and no wildy did.
no it didnt, scammers and PKers didnt make up that much of the playerbase
and they brought back the wildy anyway
Not an rpg now thats for shure
If you played it 10 years ago, it would've been a fantastic experience. There was nothing like walking into a general store crowded with dozens of players buying and trading and selling their wares before going off to make your own living training skills and killing monsters. Everything in that game felt so community driven and player friendly and it's seems like there's a plethora of things to do, from quests, to grinding skills, to killing monsters, and trading for items and weapons.
Unfortunately, this game has dwindled in its playerbase. I don't quite remember how many people play on a daily basis (I think it's 60,000 people), but it's certainly not as populated as before. The demographic of players has shrunk to the diehard experts who make characters to experiment with "Berserker" stats or pure skilling accounts just to make money, so the player base isn't very noob friendly. Getting into this game wouldn't be hard, but it's certainly quite the task to get hooked on the game because you have to grind A LOT. At first, it seems like the efforts of your grinding seem plentiful and tangible, unlocking plenty of content with each level up, but as soon as you start hitting levels of about 50 or higher (skills cap out at level 99), the xp requirements start hitting numbers that take days to achieve, especially really annoying skills like woodcutting or runecrafting which take weeks to months to train to a decent level.
Biggest worry about this game is that 70% of the content is locked behind a membership subscription that costs like 10 bucks, but f2p version is good enough for beginners. Personally, I've invested quite possibly thousands of hours into this game over the course of about a decade, but OSRS is mainly for nostalgic players seeking to relive the same level of discovery and adventure.
