I just recently got to champion quests, but holy shit, fuck these faggots.
2 heroes down to mortality debuffs in the first random battle.
...
It's worth a watch.
Is this meme being spread by casual normies, who never got past apprentice level Ruins? Because there are many other more dangerous stress damage dealers in the game.
i think it's because this enemy only does stress damage
Nope. They do health damage too. Unlike the madman or squiffy ghast.
I think it's because its the (one of?) first 'stressy' enemy you meet. This was especially true when the game was in early access and half the dungeons and enemies didn't exist yet.
>when the game was in early access
Fair enough.
>This formula was thrown out the window upon final release of the game
Damn, DD could have been a great game.
Oh well...
I'm halfway in the video.
The guy's good. Not flawless, but it shows how they really love videogames and they ask themselves a lot what should and what shouldn't be in the game in order to communicate their idea better.
I can't dislike people like this, who take a look at their problems and mistakes and try to fix them or imrpove them, even if that means failing a couple more times.
They earned my trust for sure, gonna be waiting for their next game
>their next game
W-what's the problem, user? they are making another game for sure.
Right?
DD was TOO successful. Red Hook will forever remain one shot wonder gamedevs.
Nah, DD's formula can be easily improved upon. The best idea will probably be to make another game that has the same formula/core gameplay but with new/more twists to it and more content.
People said the same with Yatch club and Shovel knights expansions and look how good they are.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. They will be rehashing the same thing over and over again. This isn't good, that's just a slow death, unforeseen, unforgiving.
>affliction system is the hook of DD
What. You just avoid them and manage stress.
hmmmm I don't think it's that bad. Both plague of Shadows and Specter of torment were same but unique enough to be fully enjoyable. They could try to do the same. It worked too for demon to dark souls.
I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sometimes people doesn't need something brand new and original, but more of something they already love.
>You just avoid them and manage stress.
Exactly, you play around that mechanic. Stress is a bigger factor than health, dmg or anything else. IT's the most unpredictable resource, and therefore you build your playstyle around it.
The magic is how it's not the fact that it will happen, but what or when could happen.
I'm pretty sure that's physically impossible in champion level dungeons. Everything just does so much stress damage, you're lucky if you don't get to 200. Like, a madman can easily manage to stack four horrors on a single character in just one fight.
From is a relatively big company though. And the Soul series weren't their first. It took off in the west really well, yes, but they have other IPs to fall back on.
When the first thing you do becomes your most successful accomplishment, especially for a small indie studio, it unavoidably casts a tall shadow on all your future projects.
>allowing the madman to live for more than 1 round
yer own bloody fault ye filthy wanker
I'm about halfway through my first playthrough of the game, just got my first few guys to level 5.
Should I bother with the DLC now? I sort of want to try all the new stuff out, but I don't know if it will be a big pain in the ass and is just better off doing my next playthrough.
I think ti will be fine, honestly. They have that Nintendo's policy of "if it does not contribute on making the game more fun or express themselve better, there's no point on adding that feature", so I'm pretty sure we won't see anything new from then until they believe it's worth doing.
Can't control the RNG, man. It's not my fault they gave him that much dodge and I kept missing. And I'm pretty sure they specifically rigged the AI for stress inducing enemies to always attack the party member with the highest stress on your team. So that you'd have to go through a dungeon with an afflicted hero, who doesn't shut up and stacks even more stress on the other three.
I mean they are not memorable, you avoid them altogether and when shit happens it's a result of RNG, not character traits or your actions.
As the guy says it was originally planned to be bigger and more complex but left as it is to not distract too much from the rest of the game and not be too punishing.
It's not that memorable, true, and you'll most likely be able to keep going even when afflicted, but it does creates those nice stories and changes the way you play enough to enjoy the game as something different.
It works more as player favor rather than a problem, because it gives an overall different experience and different approach to the game compared to other turn based RPGs.
IT's no masterpiece but it works, right?
>but it works, right?
Stress system works, affliction system doesn't
Elaborate on that statement, please.
You appear to have posted the wrong version, here.
All afflictions can be rolled in one 'this buddy is fucked' event, they are themselves irrelevant. I played before heart attack update and 200 stress points were introduced, it was kinda the same stuff. You reach 100 stress points, you get deadweight on the team. Keep going or soldier on and try to overcome the circumstances.
but that's the point. The affliction system fucks your character, but not completly, so you do get a chance of keep going and overcome the obstacles or maybe your character refuses to do so and fucks you, him and the whole party.
That's the idea behind affliction system and why is so unavoidable on later levels.
Could it have been done better? sure, but it does it's job for now. It works.
Is it just me or is Houndmaster shit?
It's just you, trust me. 4dog rapes most encounters.
>houndmaster is shit
you're not chugging down enough scooby snacks
Houndmaster NEEDS a marked target. But when he has one, he can shit out almost Leper tier damage. Don't think of him as a bleed class, he's basically a faster Arbalest with better utility.
Instead of playing Dungeons and Dragons kid end up playing this.
he doesn't get it
played before crimson. stun+doggo is too good to ignore so I had him in every party.
>The case are all 3+
>Still have some lvl 1 boss left
>Full slot
Triumphant pride precipitates a dizzying fall.
nah he sucks, arbalest, highway, hunter and GR are all superior damage dealers
he's a really good arbalest with more utility
Remember, overconfidence is a slow but insidious killer.
Threadly reminder that you can swap skills during dungeon crawling (not mid fights tho) and you can trade heirlooms with eachothers while in town.
Also if you haven't tried antiquarian and think she is absolutely useless bring her with you in your next expedition with a riposte character, preferably with a MaA, just make sure she is the one who interacts with the objects.
>you can swap skills during dungeon crawling
BULLSHIT
Why does a game warn you if you try to embark on a quest with not all four skills equipped?
>tfw my Dismas just died before I got the achievement
>not leveling them by only doing short quests and saving them for the final mission
>mfw my Dismas has Dismas' head equipped
So how do you decide which characters you upgrade?
Courtiers show up early and often, and give newer players a lot of stress if they don't focus them down.
It's also a meme because it's hilarious that your heroes are getting freaked out by wine.
How slowly the tide turned.
Because why wouldn't you have 4 skills equipped?
Being able to swap skills also lets you fix a run if you equipped the wrong skills.
>hair
no way
>kick out shitty characters
>obtain new ones
>send one group to the darkest dungeon
>have them abandon
You do lose one guy, but the rest aren't counted for the roster size after.
Oh my
ha i love how disgusting the enemies look
>wine
Thought it was blood.
ha do you ever think what her legs smell like? haha just asking
I thought it was some crimson looking acid, doesn't it do some sizzling sounding effect when it hits?
It sounded like it was fizzing to me, like soda being poured into a glass
Why not both?
It's settled then, he's splashing coke on people.
I feel like the ancestor of all people should know exactly why not.
...
That would cure some stress at camp ;)
>Stressed
>Not healing stress
i think its meant to be surprised icons
Their boners are stressing them out, won't be relieved until it's taken care of.
but those are white icons
Yeah cause its surprising when ladies have breasts WEIRD.
THEY NIGHTMARISH CREATURES CAN BE FELLED, THEY CAN BE BEATEN
Shaped like the stress icon
you wouldnt find it surprising if a woman took her top off while camping? kill yourself
>his innovative mechanics are flavour text
A DIZZLING BLOW
You seem to have forgotten to take of your trip from a previous thread.
You see, the point of this image board is to be anonymous.
Please take off your trip as it adds nothing to your comments and makes you look like an attention seeking idiot.
Keep enjoying Sup Forums!

how can you fuck up something so simple
>DIZZLING
>be absolute beginner just wanting to play the story and explore the lovecraftian universe
>do fairly well for a while
>wolfs before the gates
>i lose 2 of my best heroes and abandon the quest
>had these guys for a while and it honestly makes me feel worse than i thought
Plague Doctor is the cutest and most useful party member.
Plague Doctor is a SLUT who works at the brothel getting gangbanged by the caretaker, leper and doggo
hot
gangbangs are overrated desu
I ship PD, PD, PD, Leper for hot buffs and massive damage orgies.
...
Slowly, gently, this is how a tide is turned.
Houndmaster is the most broken piece of shit in the game that also enables meta faggotry and infinite stalling to heal stress.
On that note devs are fucking clueless about balance of their own game and didn't fix a single thing with dlc.
Don't cross the lines
...
>devs are fucking clueless
they already made it so stress increases the longer a battle goes so you cant stall forever
Trust me, he already found out why not.
I love running this party
>point blank shot
>finale
>stun/whack
>stun/judgement
>point blank shot again
Sometimes I run an occultist instead of the vestal to clear the corpses as well. I wonder if 4+ level dungeons are going to start pushing my shit in with this loadout
Bitch please. If you leave 2 enemies alive, or one guardian enemy, it won't stress you out or call reinforcements, so you literally can sit there for half a hour chaining stuns through 2 stack of stun resist and heal all your stress to zero.
Not him, but the heroes themselves stress each other by saying they shouldn't be taking too long to finish off the foes. Dunno when this was introduced, since I only recently started playing the game myself, but maybe you've missed that.
you literally take stress from the fight being prolonged. I think it's past 10 rounds or something like that.
>still have it installed
>sometimes get the itch to play more of it
>always get reminded of the mobile-tier gameplay
dismas' head should only drop if and after he dies
Nope. I have it on him legit. The wiki doesn't mention any pre-reqs either.
im saying thats how it should be
