Not becoming a Twitch streamer or a Patreon content maker

>not becoming a Twitch streamer or a Patreon content maker

>You can get money for essentially doing nothing but playing vidya, very slowly developing vidya, or hell, literally anything
>Get enough attention and you'll start getting games for free
>people praise you everyday and will defend you to the death

Come on, Sup Forums. Why aren't you an e-celeb? Surely you don't like working at that supermarket THAT much?

good luck when your view count decline in 2-3 years

This is actually my dream

I might be autistic but I'm not that autistic nor is my mental health that bad.

Get a REAL job instead of whoring yourself out like a can girl

I'll tell you as a person that made videos that had 50-200k hits per despite only making a few videos, held one stream ever and had over 1k viewers, and easily could have gone on to make a living at this:
1. I value private life more than a pittance of money.
2. I see most YTers and streamers barely making money to cover costs, constantly begging, simply unable to crack into the level of popularity required to make money.
3. You are everyone's bitchboy and if you make a commitment and falter on it, fans will never let it go.
4. I easily get bored of games and stop playing them. This kills the autistic Let's Play viewership.
5. Do something or say something embarrassing on stream? Don't worry, people will make videos and never let go of it.
The people that stream every day, begging for money, eating ramen and McDonalds... that's not at all worth it to me. I'm not willing to go to that level of impoverishment to have my privacy invaded nonstop.

i would rather have the money to work a real job while continuing to treat vidya like a fun thing I enjoy doing on my downtime
>being obligated to play enough video games a day/week/month
sounds pretty unhappy for me.

>Come on, Sup Forums. Why aren't you trying to get into an already oversaturated market

For every popular twitch streamer with over a 1000 regular views there are 100 with single digits.

i want to, but im paranoid my real life friends and family will see me when i have like zero viewers acting like a retard online.

>while continuing to treat vidya like a fun thing I enjoy doing on my downtime

This. I don't want to turn my downtime/relaxation time into work.

You'd just end up like DSP. Single and begging for money.

>go on twitch
>play videogames
>barely ever a single viewer
>in the event they're there, they join and invite me to their game/multiplayer
>say fuck it and join them because it's not like whatever I'm doing is entertaining anyone
>when I'm trying to stream, pretty much talking to myself because no one will ever watch my trash

Sadly your entire livelihood is based on the whims of an employer you have no contact with or control over.

When Youtube changed their formula, hundreds of thousands of people suddenly couldn't generate any revenue. They had to go out and find a real job with such wonderful credentials as "I spent the last 10 years playing video games"

Twitch is already being taken to court for not being taxed. Everyone one of today's e-celebs will find themselves out of a job sooner than you think, and will only be able to support themselves by going to conventions.

>Job pays money
>bbbut it's a real job

there were way too many youtuber becoming millionaires off of shit content, im pretty sure the ad agencies were tired of paying 16 year old clickbait channels thousands of dollars

>Becoming a cardboard cutout to appease a mere few thousand of braindead manchildren and children

My generation was a mistake, and so is the next.

>gives you tons of friends
No it doesn't. Money gets you a bunch of acquaintances who try to live vicariously through you and use you.

>money for doing nothing
It's not that easy. If you honestly think streaming is that easy then do it. Go ahead and show me the way to stardom.

Honestly, my biggest fear of streaming is turning into Serious Gaming. Those people are the literal scum of the planet. There's cable internet providers and then there's Serious Gaming. Those two need to walk off of the god damn planet.

>tfw the only good generation

I've lived in a world with and without internet, and taken the best of both.

The standards for streaming have risen. People either expect you to go on crazy outdoors adventures, play up a stupid comedy act, or be remarkably good at one game. The dull, everyday streamers who did nothing but casually play shit like GTAV and LoL are dying out.

You forgot a couple of things.

1) You have to be an autistic man-child who acts 12 and posts themselves on Livestremfails to build an audience.

2) Or, you can be an attractive female then nothing else matters. There's a girl who streams herself in a bikini and does handstands for subs. Or there's StPeach who just exists.

No one watches for gameplay anymore. Gaming has gone to shit and is controlled by corporate. IRL streams are the future and what people want to watch.

Also, SherrifEli is Ghost from TCR, I'm 1,000% positive.

It's a shallow profession.

>streaming in 2017
it's too late

I hope you're not implying Gen X got the best of a world without internet.

>tfw you recognize that the market is saturated and making it big is hard so instead you just have a comfy little stream with your gf male

This is what separates a job from charity. If you have a job, you own a piece of the company, you and your co-workers have influence.

With charity, they can take it all away. And you can't do anything. And nobody will support you. And instead of banding together like some sort of worker's union (god bless the NC for having half a fucking brain) it's a total dog eat dog scenario. yaaaay less competition for views! and lieks! yaaaaa

>Serious Gaming
How is this channel not banned? I honestly don't get it.

Pewdiepie is the only one making money. It started and ended with him.

Next best idea is to do an IRL stream in a shitty neighborhood and get into fights. Fighting will never get old and none of these beta streamers are doing it. Only problem is building a fan base before you get banned for fighting.

1. Be a cam girl and get 5k viewers average after 5 min of streaming
2. Be a decent gamer and get 5k viewers average after building fanbase for over 5 years

One won't switch at the drop of a hat.

sounds like a good way to spend a lot of time in jail.

Camgirls don't get nearly that much in terms of viewership. Most of them are usually funded by 1 or 2 donators who are in love with them and think they're buying affection online.

Look at KittyPlays. This girl makes fucking bank off of one fucking loser called UrStunning. This dude donates 5 figures every single month to her.

There is no shortage of lonely losers online who think they're buying a friend. I envy camgirls on Twitch. They can make money without having to take their clothes off and just talking to their chat. If I could harness that power, I would quit web development in a heart beat. Instead, I spend my day dealing with project managers (who are mostly females that have no clue what they're doing - yay diversity in tech) and web designers who design websites based on their feels rather than logic.

Where may I view some of this supposed entertainment? nothing too gruesome, I'm squeamish.

>3. You are everyone's bitchboy and if you make a commitment and falter on it, fans will never let it go.
This is the worst part of it to me. How's the story go?
>This pub, this very pub we're just sitting in. I built it, with me own hands! But do they call me the Pubmaker? Naa! See the wall over there, that protects our town? I built it, with me own hands! But do they call me the Wallmaker? And the bridge, you know, that crosses our river, I built it, with me own hands! But do they call me the Bridgemaker? But I tell ya, man! YOU FUCK ONE GOAT!
To be fair as an e-celeb this could theoretically give you a lot more viewers too. Real roll of the dice. I imagine the majority of the time it's actually quite shitty for them though.

The main problem with Twitch is how inconsistent they are with their rule enforcement. Being a new streamer has to be utterly fucking terrifying because they'll ban you for anything.

Meanwhile, this tit streamer has a nipple slip and gets a 24 hour warning. Their staff is filled with fucking losers like Hassan who follow all the cam girls and make sure they never get in trouble.

One girl had a literal camel toe camera setup on stream and the PR head of Twitch defended her. Twitch is a fucking joke. Their staff is biased as fuck and they're so inconsistent on how they handle people who violate their own ToS.

Serious Gaming as mentioned earlier in this thread is like DaddyoFive with cats instead of kids showcasing domestic abuse, scams and drunk diving but no action has been taken. One streamer opens a link that turns into a cock though and BAN.

Those things require personal investment and being consistent as well as editing skills, graphic skills and digital marketing if you want to succeed more quickly.

In short, it requires effort and it's a long time investment since the first year you won't get any views and making quality content plus marketing it is incredibly hard and in the worst cases you won't succeed in the first years. Once you crack it you are set for life but it's just not appealing as working a normal job.

Because Alan & Vic (Serious Scumbags) have friends at Twitch. Alan has been streaming for over a decade and knows a lot of staff members. The channel is a train wreck that makes you feel better about yourself. I hope they never get banned so we can watch the first mental break down and homicide on Twitch.

Politics exist in every career. People kiss ass, management is biased everywhere, not just on Twitch. This is a rule of life. It's not fair but if you want to get ahead, you have to play it.

Im talking about those neighborhoods where people don't call the police and fighting is an everyday thing. But you're right, someone watching the stream will call the cops on you.

I don't know, I don't think there is any live stream fights except boxing and MMA which bring in millions.

It's a risky idea but it would work. Best way to get views from people who wouldn't call the cops is to shill on Sup Forums. There's no denying that you would have 5000+ viewers ready to see you beat down or get beat down. In fact I should probably make the website myself.

Speaking of Twitch, anyone else watch this autistic dumbass in Japan? This has to be the first American in history who went to Japan for weeks and couldn't get laid. How the fuck do you strike out with Japanese women? It's seriously like playing with the net down. I think Reckful is his name. I just can't even.

They won't ban streamers with a huge amount of viewers because that will hurt the income of the website.

This.

Being famous must suck.

What exactly is a "real job"?

you mean the ghetto? probably not worth the risk of getting shot or stabbed on live stream for a handful of $5 donations. I don't even want to imagine how stream sniping would work for that kind of channel.

One that's part of a worker's union.

Judging by his history, Reckful is a thirsty nigger but not thirsty enough to get a leech as gf unlike people such as hotshotgg and dyrus

pffft okay

One that requires years of personal development, training and commitment to obtain.

he already has some girl from hooters in america. i doubt he cares about some mongoloid asian girl

Clue me up on Serious Gaming, I have no idea who they are.

Yes but assuming you have some size and street knowledge and a gang of buddies hiding from the camera but still in view of potential criminals.

And i truly believe the donations would be bigger. It's a high risk but high payout. Streamers get $5 - $10 donations for pretending to be scared on horror games, just imagine the donations for real life horror.

Defiantly couldn't bring expensive cameras. Stream sniping would suck balls.
>Some kids sends in the footage of you bashing cunts to cops
>Says you have a gun
>Cops know you're violent, looking for trouble and "armed"
>Shot on sight
You would have to be moving constantly while blocking street signs and land marks.

Best way would be to start your own website, shill it on Sup Forums a week before the stream to avoid moral fags and then quickly take the website down once the stream has ended and you have the donations pocketed.

People love violence and will pay heaps to see it.

>not learning how to draw and commissioning from furries

>What is ice poseidon

I've never really been one for streaming or vlogs or whatever, but what did YouTube change that made them all into needy Patreon beggars?

You honestly don't make that much with a million views a month, really need 10 mil or more to get good bucks these days.

Without it, tomorrow you could be on the street. Every day of your life.

Christ. How is Ashens not on the streets, he doesn't even have a Patreon and he's been "full time" for years.

Not likely considering I have marketable skills and save my money

>Ashens
He had 5 million views last month, so he earned anywhere between 1.5 -3k depending on video lenght,

So about £2300-1200 or so, which he would then get taxed on in the UK. It's a living I guess but not one you could get a decent mortgage or car with.

>how to get rich on twitch
1. Be entertaining
2. Have a regular schedule
3. Play new games

>This dude donates 5 figures every single month to her
Fuck, man

4. Not be ugly
5. Voice of a 12 year old.

"stream" culture and "co-op multiplayer" culture in general disgusts me.

Dude's a class act, I met him at the Nintendo Switch reveal event here in the UK

He's a pretty normal bloke, he also makes a lot of money off of web design

>Measly 200k hit videos
>Only 1k stream viewers
>Easily could have gone into making a living at this

PFFFAHAHAHAHA what a delusional moron

>5 figures
>Minimum $10,000

wtf does he know he can buy sex with that much money? probably even off her. What a sucker.

>Look at KittyPlays. This girl makes fucking bank off of one fucking loser called UrStunning. This dude donates 5 figures every single month to her.

twitter.com/urstunning2

What the actual fuck? He could buy a hooker every night and have change left over. Nothing strange as folk.

I'm fucking uninteresting as a human bean, and I don't think there's a market for people who struggle to perfect 7.5 star songs in Project Diva.

Yeah, It's not the kind of thing I expected when I was a kid thumbing through the PlayStation magazines at the newsagents. I got bored watching my mates play games, waiting for them to die so it was my turn, never mind actually going out of my way to donate people money to scream into a webcam whilst playing something.

I'd rather work for one asshole I know than for thousands of assholes that I've never seen the face.

She is pretty cute

Doesn't surprise me, a couple of months ago he became the first ever person I've actually subscribed to on YT, bloke seems like a decent chap. Not a fan of anything but his main channel though, the people he works with on other stuff aren't even funny and are the worst examples of "geek™" marketing culture.

>become a empty shell shill for corporate buckaroos
or
>stream with common interest bros on friday night mother fuckers

happiness or dying on the inside. its your choice kiddo.

wtf she's average as they come. Defiantly not worth thousands in donations. Even with all that makeup she's a solid 5. $500 hookers are better looking.

Despite how easy you think it is, you need to have some sort of personality if you want a cult following to get a constant stream of money.

>a solid 5
I'm feeling more a light 8 honestly

I'd rather keep my dignity

I streamed before it was cool, in 2007. Played through Battletoads on emulator just to prove that it could be done. That was fun.

Tell me more about privacy stuff. Can't you just wear a mask assuming your audience would still like you just the same? Or do crazy fans find a way to stalk you?

But would you donate $10,000 to her assuming you had the money urstunning has? (lets say a million)

I CAN'T A SINGLE DIME. TRYING TO BECOME AN E-CELEB WAS A MEME

Who said anything about a facecam?
You can be entertaining without it.

sure why not?

>privacy
>on the internet

never do face cam. never show your room. never have personal things in shot/talk about personal life.
if someone wants to find you they can do it with relative ease.

hey guys anybody wanna watch my mixer stream?

How is this a light 8?

>How is Ashens not on the streets

He is frugal.

Something that makes you miserable.

im kind of a big deal

damn user, you could probably buy her for $10,000 why give it to her for free? She's not even a 10 to you just a measly 8.

Life is truly unfair, they make money for doing nothing, I barely have time to play videogames, why

>mfw i work on the art for a porn game patreon and it's paying better than full studios work did

I don't want attention! Everyone will be looking at me!

I dunno, everytime I check out Twitch to see if I'll get the appeal I'll check out the top streamers and they're akways the most boring person I've ever seen. Maybe one or two have had the personality to keep hours long streams interesting, but most could have been replaced by a helium balloon of a Spongebob and it would be a notable improvement.

This only works if you have a likable personality.

One where you leave the house.

Sadly I'm not a grrrrllll gamer that can just flaunt her tits towards the camera to scam some thisty losers out of their neetbux so I would actually have to produce content. Say what you want about ecelebs, most of them at least have to put in some effort.

>tfw comfy 7000+ viewer Minecraft moon stream

moon? as in the WC3 player?

it aint happening again, if you are already big on twitch you are set, if not forget it.
