>Just came out
>Only thread about it is ded

Oh yeah, this is Sup Forums

No because their server fucking died.

>Most popular level already is an autolevel

At least you can even access the database.

Also what the hell with this games selection of bosses? All the Mega Man 4 bosses and you go with Toad Man and not Skull Man?

Skull Man's AI too hard to copy?

While I'm tempted to make about a billion games using this, I also realize that perfection has already been achieved and everything I do would be less.

Also I already made a mega man fangame 10 years ago

>Servers died again

Screen transitioning from vertical sections to horizontal sections is janky as fuck.

i hope this shit gets updates with more bosses/playable characters
slapping around crash man with shine spam will get old quick 10/10 outside that though

>made a level
>uploaded
>got lots of likes and plays
>come back two minutes later
>everything reset
Well then, guess I won't wank my dick off about how my level is playable and not totally jank.

I hope they update this more also get better servers

Servers will improve once the people who never played an MM game in their life get bored of this.

I sure love remakes of 1-1!

C'MON! The blue boy needs our help. If we don't pay him any attention, who will?

No one. The maker isn't even well optimized.

Then... is it really true? Is Mega Man so dead that even the fangames don't work anymore?

It needs more content

Is the game running well for anybody else it runs like shit on my laptop

If it's a level like that maze one where there's a ton of shit then it runs like shit for me.

I can't directly play stages from online, since it just goes with "? Level Name", then goes to a grey screen playing Cutman's music. Playing and beating a stage offline doesn't allow me to give it props or whatever, and the few stages I've played are already trying to be kaizo garbage, despite Megaman not being anywhere near as mobile as Mario.

They went with literal meme bosses from MM4, and that pisses me off.

>Toadman is easiest MM boss ever!
>Mr. "NOW I HAVE YOUR POOOOWWW"

Nothing like Drillman mixing up the level design or Diveman with how aggressive he could get, or even Ringman.

And what's the deal with MM6 having the most "complete" selection from all the games in this?

This was made by the same people that stopped their fandom contest since people said mean comments on Youtube about the judges being complete twits on their first contest when reading comments they left on stages.

As shitty as he was, at least Daniel Paige could take a beating, and could make something that was functional and wasn't begging for Patreon money from the onset. Then we have stuff like to remind us all that good Megaman / Rockman stuff still gets released, and it isn't anything to panic over at this time.

Don't play in window mode, since it seems to be oversampling or something for me on my PC, and introduces frame stutters due to potential v-sync.

...

What contest? That sounds hilarious.

>it's another insanely precise spike jump level

...

>fight metal man
>shine his metal blade back at him
>its a one shot
its the little things

"Make a Good Megaman Level Contest" 1 & 2, which was fine until one of the Megaman-oriented youtubers named Rohman Mythril did a late LP of the first one and would read the judges comments aloud, and his comment section pointed out how fucking inept the judges were, which caused the guy to make a sobby video about how he might have to quit youtubing for awhile and end the LP early, and said that some of the judges even begged him in private to not even do an LP of the second contest fan game. Dude settled on disabling comments for the rest of his LP, and the second contest seems to have been dropped and this "Maker" program came out of the literal blue in the last week by the guy who created the engine for the second contest. A mixture of Sprites Inc and some others, like Something Awful people that think they're top-tier fan editors since they did SMW hacks.

All in all, a good reminder of what the "surviving" MM fandom seems to have become, since it seems really hugbox, when back in the early 00s people would call people out on their bullshit most of the time if their stuff was shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=4QPzGcKkjik

About 5:20 is one of the worst stages in the original contest, to give an idea of what people thought was their A-Game. Second contest was gonna be like 100 fan levels in a MM game, so yeah, we dodged a major bullet.

It's been running well for me but I've had a bit of slowdown in a couple of levels.

Meme levels are underrated IMO

youtube.com/watch?v=eCiFO7qV54E

what's that music? holy shit

how long before dmca?

that's why i already grabbed it
it's only a matter of hours

Capcom isn't as anal with fanshit like other companies.

After half an hour of playing online, I finally found a stage that impressed me and I feel is worth sharing.

Metalman Upgrade / ID: 5708

Level is at least cohesive compared to most, but the boss fight against Metal Man is fucking brilliant and taps into some of the potential of what smart people can do with this editor when it comes to boss room editing.

These custom sprites look pretty good.

Better than everything Capcom have made in the past 5 years combined. Embarrassing.

>Megaman 10 was seven and a half years ago

What do shine and Meta Knight up B have to do with Mega Man?

He was in smash bros i guess.

Nothing at all, but the guy who made this engine put them in since they were his own custom weapons.

Meanwhile, he could have put that effort into making a fangame where Mega had his Smash moveset, like how Kirby had his Smash set as a special option in Kirby and the Magical Mirror or whatever on GBA. Would have made his game stand out instead of "I made a simple level editor in Game Maker"

So I'm assuming this is going after the Mario Maker look and feel going by the name.

Can you not edit a level partially, save the file locally, and hand it off to someone else to continue it? or is everything online only?

You can save locally and likely do that if you want like a team effort, though only one person can upload it online.

The game also seems to suffer when overly large levels are a thing, and screen transitions are beyond fucked from what I've experienced, compared to how solid they were in Powered Up.

I've also noticed they didn't seem to include what fans dub "up and downs" to pop out of holes, unless people aren't utilizing them correctly in this.

the contest ended properly and supposedly is getting released in august.

but yeah, i read the forums posts, why all dat drama,? its just a game.

You know basically everyone acknowledges that level is shit, right? Even in-game?
The contest is divided into tiers for a reason, the point is not to make "the perfect mega man game", it's just to showcase a bunch of levels people of that community made, both good and bad.

How long before it gets C&D'd?

since we have actual local saving, at least its possible to make a level sharing site for level uploading outside the server.

but this game will be verylimited, even more than SMM.

the programmers should find a way to externalize the gameplay logic/coding aspects from GMS in their own files too.

>Custom Enemies
>Custom Bosses
>Custom Artwork
>Custom Weapons

with local saving, its easy to post the level with their corresponding files on the net so it can easily downloaded without the server.

if they get to discover a way to implement that, then this game will be perfect.

>can't import your own shit

Yea its shit

The same guy that made this made a separate engine for Game Maker, go use that if you want to get into technical shit like scripts and custom resources, this is a limited tool set for people that don't wanna do that.

I would imagine that it would allow for customization to a small degree on some of that with local settings by changing graphics and sounds out. I already know for a fact the game uses .nsf for the music, meaning the music can be edited easily enough, though only locally.

The limited enemy and boss selection is a pain to work around, and I'm not sure if Mega's sprites can be altered easily, since I wouldn't mind someone doing an EXE overhaul on him.

People have egos that bruise like peaches these days when they opt to surround themselves with only friends and yesmen.

>these days

It's always been like that, the internet just made it more apparent. People love being around those who confirm their beliefs and benefit them. It's hoomen nature.

On the subject of bosses it's more surprising there isn't even a water boss.

Oh has this thread shifted to Mega Man fan game drama?

Let's talk about Time Tangent.

>mean comments on Youtube about the judges being complete twits on their first contest when reading comments they left on stages.

I don't know. Based on the video posted here , the judges were comments were on the ball. Those levels sucked.

The real problems were closer to the middle of the rankings, where two or three of the judges marked down good levels because they were shit at megaman.

More bugs as I said.

I've seen numerous Mega Man fangames before and Capcom never did shit about them.

Other Mega Man fan games didn't have a patreon attached to them.

What a fucking waste, did anyone ever reupload those gameplay trailers they released?

thy already ditched the patreon, they got free server hosting for the game so its not needed.

They dumped their patreon since they got funded by an actual serverhost though.

I don't believe so.

The real funny thing is that the game that the rival fan game that made them cancel the project to begin with ended up being cancelled anyways.

Are you new to Mega Man fan games or something?

There's a higher chance of Capcom officially endorsing it than it getting a C&D

Didn't know that.

Then they should be fine unless Capcom was planning on making their own Mega Man Maker.

Which is beyond an infinitesimal chance.

Retron right? Mega Man VR's dead too correct?

What's the story behind that one?

Everything seems to run fine except mega man moves like hes underwater for me.

I forget the name of it, but it was the one being done by Team Reaverbot and had Legends characters in it for some reason. I think it honestly just had the uncreative name of "Mega Man 25th" or something. They released a one stage/two boss demo.

In short, another Mega Man fan game was started by people with some actual video game experience which got media coverage. The Time Tangent devs were less than thrilled that another game was getting coverage when theirs was ignored despite having spent more time on it and rather angrily cancelled the game and blamed the fanbase.

>several streamers already all over the game
>People like and idea men with unrealistic expectations will flood the forums and discord
>Devs get too tired of their retarded fanbase and call it quits
>We never see any updates with more cool stuff
This is why we can't have nice things!

>Look it up
>This is the trailer
>youtu.be/lL9036slpE8

I feel like I lost half my intelligence after that video.

That's a fake one using footage from Unlimited.

You can tell because it has bad level design.

Nigga that's not the real one, you just fell for clickbait.

Sick tune desu.

>Forums
>Discord

Never will I ever

>by Team Reaverbot
That's Mega Man 25th Anniversary, it didn't look too good.

That's Unlimited my dude, not Time Tangent.

Yeah and it made the Time Tangent devs cancel their game.

LOL! Smash bros

I know, which is a shame since it was looking pretty promising.

it's out? I thought for sure it's get C&D?

Capcom loves others doing their work for them as long as they don't try to profit from it.

Megaman 2.D was fun

Is anyone going to waste their time making levels?

I already started.

just uploaded my first level i made half asleep
its probably too easy but its fun

shine is overpowered as fuck

I want to make a level where you teleport to a stage of varying difficulty.

Easy is designed to make faggots get stuck in a death loop

>tfw you're worried you're going to only make piss easy levels because the levels you make in SMM are also easy
>you might make them too bullshit by trying too hard to make them difficult

>need to go to a "I'm not a robot" captcha to play Mega Maker
I shouldn't have laughed at this

How many bosses does it have?

12, 2 from each game from 1 to 6

Cut Man, Bomb Man, Metal Man, Crash Man, Spark Man, Top Man, Pharaoh Man, Toad Man, Napalm Man, Stone Man, Plant Man and Knight Man.

1 through 6 m8 & timeman and oilman from powered up

I hope they get to updating this sooner than later, since this engine is shit and highly unoptimized. It loads the entire thing at once and keeps it in memory, though it should really just do that based on screen locks and what's loaded at the time. The average MM stage is 15-25 screens in size, and this starts chugging once I get 10+ screens going.

>Can't have more than one robot master

People have already bypassed that somehow. I've seen a guy do a NETA shoutout with 8 Crashman loaded at once, and the same guy had 7 unique RMs loaded on screen at once.

Otherwise yeah, that's dumb that we can't do a boss gauntlet or anything in a natural sense.

Anyone found the files to edit the megaman sprite? Roll-chan needs her fix.

Wow, this is a buggy piece of shit

>what's the deal with MM6 having the most "complete" selection from all the games in this?

Haven't played this and haven't seen the assets they used, but MM6 was the best looking of those NES games. Some people forget how much better they made those games look from 1 to 6. Here's a shot comparison.

it just came out m8 give it time

Made a level, it's called: 'Whats a megaman'

Why the fuck would I want to go back to classic MM when MMX and castlevania exist? It's time to grow up

Any recommendations for making levels? I spent an hour making one summer themed level and ended being shit
