>game on your backlog gets a sequel
Game on your backlog gets a sequel
> your backlog gets a sequel
>having a backlog
>buy game in 2012
>still haven't played it
>sequel comes out
>buy that too but can't play them out of order
>game on your backlog has its predecessor remade
>this happens twice
What game are you putting off, user?
Im in chapter 3 of The Witcher 1, i started playing in late 2014. Get on my level.
I played it for about 2 hours and couldn't take it anymore. I played witcher 2 and 3 for over 100 hours each
I have never played Dark Souls, or any of the Souls games.
I don't get where do people get so much time for vidya.
I was halfway through Bravely Default before I got sidetracked. BS came out and I bought it too. I don't know when I'm going to get back to it. This summer has been the summer of Final Fantasy and Nier so far.
Same here, I have an entire list of games I still need to get to, and they just keep coming out faster than I can finish them. Doesn't help that I tend to like long RPGs.
>not being a neet
>keeping a backlog
its like you enjoy suffering
>keeping one backlog
>not keeping several for every medium
I'm addicted to media. I wish I didn't have to work.
>Being a NEET.
Literally, how. I want to be a NEET, but I don't have financial independence yet so I have to exchange my work for currency.
>buy game at $60
>sale gets slash to around $10 at some point and you still haven't played it
Why do you do this? One of my friends bought so many games at launch and either never touched them or played it for a little bit the first day and went back to older games.
SO MUCH WASTED FUCKING MONEY.
I've learned my lesson. Unless I'm playing it right after buying I'm waiting for a sale.
>be neet
>never feel like playing games or watching stuff, just browse internet mindlessly
>probably a mix of guilt and depression
>be employed
>always tired, have to sleep early, never have time to play
UBI when
Exactly what I tell my friend. I still never buy games at launch but whatever his money, just actually play it when it comes out. He's gotten better at it too.
Hell if I didn't give a shit about money it'd be nice to be able to ride the hype train with everyone else when a major game releases instead of having to avoid threads because of spoilers so I'd feel more inclined to play it right away if I got it day one.
This is suffering. My IMDB watchlist just keeps growing and growing.
>Game on your backlog gets a remake
>buys a serie of games
>serie continue getting sequels
>never touch any of the games but continue buying the sequels anyway to have the complete serie
>game on backlog gets a prequel
Still waiting for an answer, fucker. Leeching off my parents isn't an answer.
They are fucking dead...
>thread you replied to yesterday gets posted again
>Game on your backlog gets released in a 40 in 1 collection
But that's a good thing. Then you can play them in the timeline order.
Games should always be played in release order, though.
If they belong to different generations, maybe.
Otherwise, no.
>Play game from the backlog that you've meaning to play since forever and everybody praises so much.
>It's shit.
Name it
This is literally all games for me at this point.
If the story matters (and it obviously does if you care about playing in any particular order) then the story should be experienced in the order intended by the author(s), which is usually release order. I'm not saying there are no exceptions, but prequels are typically written under the assumption that the audience is familiar with the story which chronologically follows the prequel. Sometimes a prequel can even spoil plot details of what comes "later" in the timeline, and in many other cases a prequel will simply make no sense to someone who is not familiar with the original story.
> game on your backlog gets a trilogy and a netflix series
>play game from the backlog that you've meaning to play since forever
>it's great, and could have been one of your childhood classics if you had played it at the time
>Sometimes a prequel can even spoil plot details of what comes "later" in the timeline, and in many other cases a prequel will simply make no sense to someone who is not familiar with the original story.
That makes sense, but on the other hand it could be that the prequel makes nods, but not require the sequel knowledge to be enjoyed and actualy helps your understanding and enjoyment of the sequel.
Ultimately what you just said could be used here as well:
>I'm not saying there are no exceptions
but after you finish both, you'll be better off having experienced them in timeline order.
normally i don't say this but this is top plebery
>backlog be all like
hey. play me
>my ass be all like
um no sweetie
>get excited about whittling down backlog
>Start four games
>Wind up replaying DeS and DaS
A-at least it's fun, right?
Do you think the writers had the entire prequel story in mind when they made the story? They are retroactively pulling an origin out of their ass based off of the original release just like sequels. You are doing it wrong.
Now this one hurts.
Get autism
Yes, they are. But that doesn't mean they're unable to acomodate for the fact that there is already a chain of future events pre established.
Yes, sometimes you may get some spoilers or some shit, but more often than not the devs are also interested in making somewhat standalone products on account of people who are just jumping into the series, so it's not usualy something that will make or break your enjoyment.
Sp, in the interest of experiencing everything in a more logical and sensible way, I'd say playing in order is prefered, unless the sequel is old enough that playing it after would ruin your enjoyment too much, but that's purely a gameplay related concern.
not reading
you're a pleb
okay that was a tad mean
but you should really stop plebing though bad user baaad bad user
Strange Journey for me. Only bought DS version this year too as it was cheap.
Fuck sake
/jp/ used to have NEET threads with stuff like faking autism for neetbux. Most of them seemed to get enough to make ends meet and have a money leftover for whatever. Mods eventually banned the threads
Wow that's childish.
But sure, keep doing it the way you do. It's not even that big of a deal anyway.
I'm not normal, but I'm functional, which sucks.
Not him, but evolution of gameplay takes precedent over having a running narrative because these are video GAMES. Not to mention that prequels are made to benefit people who have been following a series, not as a new starting point. Take Yakuza 0 for example. A future antagonist makes a cameo appearance in the game with very little fanfare. A fan of the series goes "OH SHIT, IT'S GODA" while someone starting with the prequel likely isn't even registering that characters existence and then their reaction to seeing them a few games later is likely gonna be something like "oh, alright I guess".
Shadow of the Colossus
One remaster and one remake.
Gravity Rush is the big one for me. Still haven't played the first game even though I already own both games.
>game on your backlog gets a definitive version
>it's a separate full-price version
Where should I find that much appreciated info, then? A thinly veiled thread? Should I ask in the onahole thread or what?
>Not him, but evolution of gameplay takes precedent over having a running narrative because these are video GAMES
I explicitely made this exception. So yeah, agreed.
>Not to mention that prequels are made to benefit people who have been following a series
It may happen, but as I also said, unless it's someone like Kojima, devs are terrified about ostracizing potential newcomers so they'd probably not put things that would ruin the experience of people just coming in.
There IS an argument to be made about playing in release order. I just think it's more advantageous and makes more sense to do timeline order so long it won't interfere with the gameplay related enjoyment, like if the sequel came years and years later for example.
>be sedentary for 6 months
>constantly want to kill myself
>depression and awful health
>people actively want to live this lifestyle
>he's still going
When you're working it sounds great. After 2 weeks it feels terrible. Personally I think that only has to do with societal norms though. People who REALLY don't give a shit(very very rare) probably really do enjoy it.
Just platinum'd the first one. One of the few games that I've thoroughly enjoyed lately.
>tfw trying to catch up on JoJo and my app starts to shit itself and doesn't have the color chapters anymore
>buy Ace Attorney trilogy
>finish the first one but none of the rest yet
>still buy five
>almost bought six
I'll get to it when we go back underway though
>game on your backlog gets an mmo
Nah. I just want to do what I do without having to log in 40 hours a week in a project I'm not at all interested.
>game on your backlog is an mmo
I missed out on FFXIV, just like I missed out on WoW.
I'm working on Prey atm, what are you niggers up to?
the worst feeling
>game on your backlog gets a true to source anime
>gf wants to marathon it w you
>Prey
The good one or the shit one?
Just let go man.
Games with an expiration date are not worth it.
>missed out on WoW.
I don't think you should be worried about that. It was a huge timesink, like any other MMO.
>game on your backlog gets a remaster that adds questionably good content
>you can't decide which version to play
Fucking infinity engine games.
>gf
kill yourself normie scum
Holy shit me, all these games I bought each sale and promised myself I'd clear everything.
>buy 280x in 2014
>now that I have a stronger gpu than my 6870 I'll play those demanding games
>....fast forward to 2017, got 1070 last year
>now that I have a stronger gpu...
END MY LIFE
>Been slowly working through a series so you can get caught up and play one of the later games.
>Get so burnt out that you have to stop playing for awhile and play other stuff until you get the urge to play again.
Playing all the mainline Yakuza games the same year as 0 is rough, to say the least. Already beat up to 3, and barely started on 4.
>It gets a second sequel
Fucking Dishonored.
Fucking Wolfenstein.
>buy a bunch of games
>run them all in case of issues
>everything works, they are good games
>go back to that game you have 2000+ hours on.
son of a bitch
