Why are games about necromancers and liches so rare?

Why are games about necromancers and liches so rare?

No one has the bones to make one.

Its hard to give necromancers likeable qualities. It would just be an edge fest.

Its too hard to make the game not laughably edgy, and people dont want lighthearted necromancers.

>hear rumor about dragon rampaging across the kingdom
>find its lair completely by accident wandering the countryside
>kill it while it's asleep
>drag its corpse into the hall of some bitch ass lord
>reanimate it and watch it destroy him and his peasants

Because they're shit you fucking degenerate.

I feel like making a game about a necromancer who's not a bad person but has a bad reputation (because obviously) is definitely doable, even without it being lighthearted

Off you go, range dd.

What do you mean? There are dozens of games that feature necromancers or liches. You're not looking hard enough.

One of HOMM4's campaigns was about that. The story was pretty good.

Do a significant amount of people really give that much of a shit about whether the game is laughably edgy? Didn't seem to stop people from playing the Sith side of KOTOR or enjoying the undead campaign of Warcraft 3.

>Faust VIII
>Sandro

I've always had the idea for a game about a qt necromancer grill that lived out in a cozy shack in the woods and didn't want to hurt anybody, just had an odd fascination with the dead.

>give him a cool design
>have little focus on plot or characterization
>problem solved

There definitely must be an eroge with something like that inside

Oh, definitely. But I always imagined her more plain looking and not waifu'd to the max.

Just do not make them evil. Necromancy is just magic like Hydromancy, Pyromancy and similar

Except water and fire aren't people. Necromancy is inherently evil because it draws off living things.

>deals with spirit and the undead
>is one of the most likable character in Guild Wars Faction
The necromancer in GW 1 in general are either neutral or evil.

>>give him a cool design
>cool design
Hey tigole

NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND NECROMANCY HAS TO BE EVIL

The problem here is that he wasn't the main focus of the game.

As a side note, why are GW2's designs so flacid in comparison to GW1? It bugs me

>Burning a bandit to a crisp with a fireball isn't evil
>Reanimating his lifeless corpse as a weapon against other bandits on the other hand is evil

The op ask why theyre so rare, not if there is a game based on nercomancer. There shit tons of necromancer and asian necormancer in GW 1

GW 1 was made by the people that did Diablo 2. GW 2 was made by a bunch of different people

it can also just be moving the dead.

Why can't necromancers revive people?

because they give back life, not soul

Can't sell it to the Chinese

You can make it a comedy for fuck's sake.
Like MediEvil only with necromancer as MC.

>necromancer
>he just summons lame-ass spirits

I've always wanted someone to make a Pikmin clone where you play a necromancer.

The whole part where you drag corpses back to your ship to grow more Pikmin is really what inspired me but also commanding a horde of mindless minions is what being a necromancer is all about.

>implying souls exist
call me again when you pray a rocket into space

What are the best necromancer games?

D&D
Death domain cleric or necromancy wizard are both fun as shit.

Diablo II necros say hello

>undead campaign of wc3
>>>>edgy
Did you even play the game nigger

HOMM series, Diablo 2, Guild Wars 1, Modded Skyrim. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

So guys.......... whats your opinion on Avencast?

No one called you in the first place faggot.

I'll call you when I need an informed opinion on fedoras.

You're right, the human campaign was the edgy one.

Diablo as a whole is kinda edgy
