i was thinking someone should just make a fangame sequel to TTYD without the mario. the fans want it and it really wouldn't be a super complex game to make
I just installed this on my modded wii, is it any good?
Paper Bugs
>C&D from Nintendo
It would be difficult to get the writing as top notch as this game.
PM is quickly becoming the Earthbound of the millenial generation.
Carton Mario is stronger
but earthbound is the earthbound of the millenial generation
it doesn't matter whether they were actually alive/able to comprehend things other than shitting and eating when it came out or not
You're using words you don't understand again, Troy.
Also, C&D won't do a thing if the creators just wait until the game is finished to release it.
Well you already installed it, fucking play it and decide for yourself you dumb sheep.
I installed a ton of other games too, like Earthbound, the handheld metroids, pikmin and various taiko games. Guess I'll hold off on Paper Mario till after I'm done with the actually good games.
It's a really good game, the second chapter can suck a fart outta my ass though.
>sheep
that's not very nice user
don't be speciesist youtube.com
*joins you are party*
TTYD = PM > SPM > CS > SS
64 was one of the biggest disappointments I've ever played
fuck the spam A to run, fuck the boring combat, fuck the backtracking and fuck Flower Fields
hol up
so you be sayin
we wuz elementalz?
*tucks you away and never uses you in battle*
I still don't know if this is an OC species or if there is a species of cloud enemies called flurries. I feel like the latter but googling yeilded no results
>backtracking in PM64
Bitch where? I'll give you chapter 4 but that's all I got.
Also you'll hate TTYD if you hate backtracking
Chapter 6 when you have to visit and revisit several of the flowers.
Also, there was a bit in Chapter 7 when you return from Starborn Valley back to Shiver City to get the bucket hat.
it was suposed to be a spirit with wind abilities, she also has profetic visions, it was considered like a sacred being by punies. She is the only one we see in the entire mario franchise, i dont think this a common species, is just a spirit with those skills
PM and Earthbound are entirely separate beasts, hombre.
>It would be difficult to get the writing as top notch as this game.
Huh. Watching goober gumps play it, my impression is that Nintendo just tried to be hip to the kids, which actually worked this time because the PM fanbase is autistic.
>watches game grumps
>says other people are autistic
ok buddy
how did i never notice how huge flurries tits are until now
why are they so massive what the fuck
[hottake] It's cool and fun sometimes, but also boring. [/hottake]
I find them to be very similar in terms of tone and reflection on their own genre, and fan reaction
Flurrie saved my life in the Pit of 100 Trials. Gale Force is surprisingly powerful.
She's a very shapely Puff.
>tone
not him but I disagree
EB has dark tones all throughout, and it constantly fucks with you, PM has very little in comparison, and it never gets heavy until the very end, and even then it's still not really comparable to EB
Both of them act pretty lighthearted, with simple and retro art directions and are full of humorous dialogue that call to attention things in their world that are dark when you think about it.
The first time EB really starts to screw with you is in Threed with the zombies, and its immediately followed by the lighthearted Saturn Valley
>the first thing you see is literally gallows in a seedy port slum
I'd still say EB fucks with you a lot more than TTYD, but it's been a while since I've played either
you've got a point. maybe I'm just full of shit
>it doesn't matter whether they were actually alive/able to comprehend things other than shitting and eating when it came out or not
actually thats exactly what matters
I can't recall any time EB fucks with the player, it can be a little creepy at times, but its never misdirective
I sort of understand what he meant.
Earthbound was shit when it first came out, and it only became legendary like a decade afterwards- the millenial generation. The shilling of TTYD only reached Earthbound levels around the time Sticker Star game out, a decade after TTYD.
it really doesn't
EB was shit all over when it came out, and the ad campaign and low sales didn't help it's reputation
only later did people notice it
TTYD was well known and well received right away
just check the review scores if you don't believe me
makes sense. i didnt know people disliked it at first
I didn't get to untouchable status until recently.
Remember when Game Informer gave it a 6.5?
remember when Game Informer said they score games based on how they predict the public will receive them?
>Lisa and I both knew that our Paper Mario scores were going to cause controversy. Yes, we know that many people out there will love it. We also know that it is a well-made game. However, it also WILL NOT appeal to many people - I would safely say that more people will dislike it than like it. Why? Like we said in the review, it's a very kiddie game - it's target audience is clearly young gamers - I would say 10 and under. For that reason, we had to score it low. Remember, we aren't scoring games strictly on our personal opinions, we're also scoring them based on how much we think THE GAMING PUBLIC will like them. We've all played games that we personally disliked and scored them well because we've known that most people will like them, and we've also scored games low that we love, because most people won't enjoy them.
Paper Jam was a mistake.
>The shilling of TTYD only reached Earthbound levels around the time Sticker Star game out
That's not really right though. Sup Forums has consistently been calling TTYD one of the best games ever made since like ten years ago.
But the "Paper Mario is shit and dead and Nintendo ruined everything" thing didn't spike until Sticker Star happened after Nintendo sold everyone 3DSs on promise of a real Paper Mario game.
>Gonna have a gpd win soon
>Will finally be able to play ttyd on a handheld
Childhood me would've came in his pants
>That's not really right though. Sup Forums has consistently been calling TTYD one of the best games ever made since like ten years ago.
This. I remember one of the first threads I made on Sup Forums when I came here like 7 years ago was about TTYD and everyone agreed about how it was one of the best games of all time
the thousand year door is the greatest video game ever made
