I'm a techie in my game right now. I build drones.
Why this over Shadowrun?
Excluding magic basically making it "fun with a good GM"
I'm president then, LOL.
Third person over top down i guess.
Single character oriented over multi i guess.
Journalist and credibility?
So it is a fantasy game now?
Science FICTION.
>Executive
Get me a godamned cigar.
>2077
>not picking Cop
I AM THE LAW
No I mean world/ruleset wise.
Considering the SR games have all been huge bastardisations of the actual SR experience (with one mod for Dragonfall possibly being a better attempt than the main game though random gen runs maybe), I wouldn't expect much different for Cyberpunk if it's based on a pen and paper foundation.
"Journalist" isn't really strange a concept for a class - see Beyond Good and Evil; mostly breaking into places just to blow conspiracies up.
Rockstar though makes much less sense, probably leading riots and publicly declaring your raids for big support/exposure through media? Basically a loud heist version of Journalist.
So, it's going to be an actual videogame and not a Visual Novel like the The Witcher series?
Count me in then.
The highest expectation of my is to be Blade Runner the Game.
Most realistic expectation is to be fun enough and worth the wait.
Rockstar makes sense. Basically a bard. You're inspiring the populace and influencing the culture of the world. Also you'll be of interest to anyone else who has these goals. Think media label
>Why this over Shadowrun?
Because Shadowrun is a setting owned by a crappy company which is based around the notion of ridiculouseness and not cyberpunk?
Oh look, we've got orks and deamons and ponies and penis guns and shit.
>do i fit in yet guys
>please notice me
>please
Literally the only point anyone might concede is Dragons and Magic (because of the rules on how it works).
>Talking shit about supplementals, lol
You shitting on Visual Novels, son?
I wish they'd put out some gameplay so I know what to expect from this game. I don't know shit about Cyberpunk stuff, bbut a big RPG with classes and shit makes me interested.
wow cyberpunk 2077 goes cyberpunk
afaik it's like VTMB: It's one of those pen and papers you probably enjoy with a good RP group because it relies on storytelling and shit.
In terms of adapting to video games, it's worse than most systems (assuming almost all pen and paper games adapt poorly because of the lack of competent GM involved).
Probably the best adapation I've seen is Neverwinter Nights and that's half the DM tools for UGC - it's okay otherwise, falls more towards Diablolike without the aforementioned GM to make sure you're not beating the "chosen one" path/the game itself too much with a linear story.
>we're finnaly going to get our comfy cyberpunk rpg bros
I'm actually surprised they confirmed that all the classes are making it in this early.
You're literally living in a cyberpunk world you idi...
Oh right, I forgot people here actually lack a life.
This
2077 is going to be the best Dredd game ever made
i don't even know why anyone would want to have classes in this game
so are you going to play a 200 hour rpg 7 times to see all the classes or what? i hate skills being blocked for me because i chose the wrong class before i even know how the game plays
i just wanted the witcher in a cyberpunk setting with added good gameplay, is that too much to ask for?
>TFW they are actually making Classes in this game.
Please don't fuck it up. We might finally get a real RPG.
that's not necessary user, and no we dont
Can't wait to play this shit, even if it is Risen tier, I'll enjoy it because of the lack of that open world gta type cyberpunk games. I am aware of the problems the plague the genre but still, Shits pretty schway. Also, Netrunner or Corporate. Do my own version or Mr. Robot.
>comfy
>cyberpunk
pick one
no
check a look at this
If it's well executed, it can work. See VTMB, which had unique writing for two specific races, and at least three different ways of tackling each issue.
Hell yeah we do, everything that I found particularly fascinating about the genre as a child has come true. I live in that world, I literally could not have been born in a better time. I love everything about this era to a T.
Kind of reminds me of WHFRP. Players rolled 1d100 and consulted a table during character creation for their "class". There were very few actual combat classes like wizard and fighter on it, and tons of stuff like quarry worker, farmer, butcher, dockhand, urchin, etc. It was pretty awesome because it was expected the first session, the GM would find a way to bring the players together and have them start developing into adventurer types, from which they inherited skills from their previous stations in life.
Of course, there were flaws too, like the ability to die or come out horribly maimed during character creation, but it was part of the charm.
>For those unaware, the classes in the original Cyberpunk tabletop title are actually called “roles,” and if all of them are to implemented in Cyberpunk 2077, then there should be nine different character types in total from which to choose. Similar to the actual attributes they will contain, their names are a bit unorthodox, too, as the classes are Cop, Corporate, Fixer, Media, Netrunner, Nomad, Rockerboy, Solo, Techie, and Med-Tech, each with abilities unique to their role.
>Cop: Maximum lawmen on mean 21st century streets - Authority
>Corporate: Slick business raiders and multi-millionaires - Resources
>Fixer: Deal makers, smugglers, organizers, and information brokers - Streetdeal
>Media: Newsmen and reporters who go to the wall for the truth - Credibility
>Netrunner: Cybernetic computer hackers - Interface
>Nomad: Road warriors and gypsies who roam the highways - Family
>Rockerboy: Rebel rockers who use music and revolt to fight authority - Charismatic Leadership
>Solo: Hired assassins, bodyguards, killers, soldiers - Combat Sense
>Techie: Renegade mechanics - Jury Rig
>Med-Tech: Street doctors - Med-Tech
I'll be rolling Media.
>credibility
Lets skip the easy jeers.
I enjoy the blood hound-esque reporter archetype whose quarry is pursued beyond all common reason or sense of self-preservation. At the end of a trail filled with blood and betrayal, the man behind the curtain has played his final gambit...broken bodies and shorted automated defenses bleed and smoke, respectively, yet still you stand. He offers you wealth and power meant for no one man. You walk out of his compound with the camera/flash drive/file that will make the world stop and stare.
Robotic limbs aren't exactly mainstream so not yet
I'll have two scoops, thanks.
you'd also need a silent protagonist
especially if they also include the choice if you want to play as a male or female
i don't know i'd much rather have one predetermined character and the different classes should have been skill trees
>tfw it's another hamstring fist of the same reskinned missions, split into 10 equally undeveloped flavours
O hon, I like VNs immensely.
It's just that they're the last thing I expect when I'm supposed to be playing a RPG depicting a monster hunter.
>2017
>still no release date
...
Do you mean "silent" or "non-voiced"?
this looks stylish af
is it any good?
non voiced
which would be a big step back imo
imagine geralt being non voiced in witcher
The way the classes are spread out in terms of competences and skills it looks like choosing one or the other could lock you out of a ton of quests (take med-tech vs solo for instance). Hopefully the will be a way around this.
I definitely do not want a character progression where you can become a hacker God end game if you start as a cop.
>you'd also need a silent protagonist
Depends on how different the classes are. Cmnd. Shepard works. A soldier Shepard was the same as an adept Shepard outside of combat for better or worse.
We have augmented lolis. It's right around the corner.
I can see the journalist being like an under equipped pseudo stealthy gonzo type with a radar for finding trouble to report on, but executive? How'd that work? Demand photos of Spiderman 2099?
I'll still play it, fuck it. Nothing else in the genre I haven't played (meaning cyberpunk, rpg, action)
But holy fuck, if you aren't completely full of shit and know of something that exists or is better, elaborate. I need this.
But then, "classes" doesn't mean "character creator". There could be just one character for all we know.
Multiple playthroughs
or specific roles get unique branches. Like every has access to this side quest, but if you are X you get a whole other branch to do.
i played it at pax and it played great it was hard as fuck though
i just hope it has enough variety and lenght
In some old interview they said that game will focus heavily on your character and there will be strong emphasis on customization. For example robotic arm might look real but also like chrome or carbon fiber etc.
Wonder if they will keep this part of mechanics.
>Play media as a non-supernatural version of Network 0 hunters
YES
Check out this work by Lead UI designer for Cyberpunk 2077.
It's going to be fucking great.
His ArtStation: artstation.com
>waaaah i want to do everything in one playtrough!
this is why RPG's are dead
back to fallout 4 with you
Not that guy, but I really like Worlds.
It's an ugly french mix of Deus Ex and Metal Gear, with edgy as fuck writing, but it's surprisingly fun and there's a nice atmosphere to it.
I'll check it out, thanks for the suggestion.
I'm going to RP as Josef Virek
but how would you write the same story for a cop, a corp and a rockerboy
they have to have different storypaths or quests because they are nothing alike
>tfw i'm gonna RP as officer K from blade runner 2049 waifu included
No problem.
Deus Ex The Nameless Mod is also good, if you want more Deus Ex. It's pretty wacky, though.
>ABXY
Uh yeah, fucking greatness awaits.
Who /nomad/ here
>he hasn't read the source material
Hahahahaha.
Oh user.
Why haven't you read Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive yet? Knowing how slow you read, you'd better get started now if you want to finish all three before Cyberpunk 2077 comes out!
Doesn't mean it translates into more voice overs.
welp, so much for the gameplay part of the game....
If you expect CP2077 to not be consolized then you can forget about this game.
It will be mostly meant for consoles. There is no PC RPG for you.
>artstation.com
looks overdesigned and cluttered desu
gonna RP as marly or takeshi kovacs
A social character with unique paths through which they navigate the upper echelons of society, security forces and a severe disadvantage with street level encounters.
Heavy discounts/barter bonuses
A paymaster whose goals and concerns they have to accomplish as they go about completing their own
More of a traveling corporate operative than JJJ.
>strolling through the Night City on a stormy night
>find some documents laying around in an abandoned general store
>open up the codex
>pondsmith's sweet voice flows out describing a trade deal between megacorporations as you watch the heavy rain hit the pavement and neon lights blinking in the distance
Infinity Engine games were fairly good AD&D adaptations as well, the only time they really dropped the ball was with the Pool of Radiance remake, I guess. I'll even download it again because it can't possibly be as bad as i remember
So many of these fuckers haven't read a zero goddamn thing. (as evident by the VR threads of children constantly wanting shit that is not in said books... fucking video games)
doesn't sound too bad. Sounds like maybe they'd have some arms dealing connections and hence boosted weapons stats
How multiplayer is it? I still can't figure it out. What a disappointment it would be if it was a light MMO or something. These classes are giving off a Star Shitizen vibe like you can just be a trader or some shit. I hope I'm wrong and that everyone can kill instead of being like Mercy from Overwatch or something.
Soon as I read that, I knew it was the class for me.
This ugly mess alone is enough to convince me to not ever touch this turd of a game.
I can't find anything on a game called "Worlds."
This was actually implemented somehow decently in the Shadowrun games to avoid becoming an overpowered jack of all traders. The different drone/decker/etiquette aproaches within the same run could defnitely work in CP2077 with a revamp.
>Worlds
Is that really the name?
>nomad
>melee
>cybersword
>a white gi
all i need
Because Shadowrun sucks as a setting compared to Cyberpunk.
>Lawful Neutral Corporate with nanomachine augs
thanks user that's good to hear
Jesus Christ go back to fucking Uncharted and leave RPGs to people with actual taste
>Armstrong
>lawful
>neutral
L-LOL???
Anion, how old are you?
redpill me on rockerboy, sounds hilarious and sort of cool
>you've played RUINER
WHAT? TELL ME MORE
27 this month
The super lazy route is the Deus Ex route where all you get for doing a specific build is extra loot. I hack this thing, I punch/move this shit. Extra loot nothing else
Sci Fi bards, i guess.
I'm sorry
You're right, he's chaotic good.
>you have to replay a hundred hours game with slight changes over 20 times to see everything
This is bad design.
Fuck off bethesbabby back to fallout 4 your casualized trash. Want everything? well you can't faggot cause your character is not a god that can learn everything like in fallout 4.
Well they haven't told anything about the multiplayer other than describing it as "seamless multiplayer".
My personal guess is that you can perhaps joind races, fights in an arena etc. "seamlessly" through the single-player without having to switch to a separate multiplayer menu or anything like that.
>story
>2017
who netrunner here?
also, should i check out the board game, even though i don't have chummers to play with?
Give me one thing that proves this isn't going to be some pseudo MMO. I hope it's not, I wouldn't expect CDPR to do it, but I need to know for sure.
He wants to bring order to a world so rotten that the only option is to destroy it and start again.
He values order above all else.
