What is the best MMORPG right now?
What is the best MMORPG right now?
Minecraft.
Runescape
Why does the UI and icons all look like they're from different games?
korean polish
BDO/FFXIV
Both are fucking garbage though. Look for another genre until 2018-2020 when kikestarter piss is supposed to be released
FF14
>It's a "pretend that Black Desert Online is a bad game" episode
>pretend
>singleplayer job simulator
>only multiplayer aspect is bumping into afk players dragging a backpack around for 2 weeks so they can be .00003% faster or ganking said afk players
>literally zero pve content outside of paddling a boat into poorly rendered water with some the absolute worst boat controls in modern gaming so you can pretend you're on Wicked Tuna.
>UI is a hot mess
>Textures and models pop so much that you could sell it at a movie theater
>literally pay to win
>need to take out a 30 year mortgage to buy cosmetic items
>art direction is shit
I can go on.
Free?
Probably a toss up between Tera, BDO or Runescape
P2p?
Probably a tossup between WoW or FFXIV
Overall?
Whatever you like, they all have their merits and flaws.
>BDO
>free
I'm sorry, i should've said not subscription-based.
The initial cost is so small it may as well be free though.
Not an argument.
Definitely not that one.
It's got a good economy/crafting but the gameplay and progression is a fucking snoozefest.
ESO has come a long way its pretty good now. If you liked WoW but dont like current WoW ESO offers a similar flavor of MMO content. Tons of voiced quests 4 man dungeons 12 man raids 4v4v4 pvp arenas and open world 3 faction PvP. Also the exploration is really nice alot of small details to find in the world
Whats that?
>tfw no good MMO I can buy on steam
update your Brazilian dog picture to modern times
I can add onto that
>Nothing but Repetitive fetch quests
>Turns exploring the world into late game content
>No dungeons, or raids
>Turns co op, and community bosses into a complete chore because the game gives you very few tools to find other equally accommodating players
>You could have a billion shekels and the game will still insist you pay IRL money for content established off in game currency
>pawns any redeemable content off as DLC
>There's only like 12 armor sets, per class
>Doesn't properly explain any of the core game
>Makes profile quests intended for late game content
>Side quests don't contribute to anything but contribution points, making doing every side quest in the entire game pointless and stupid
>contribution points don't even contribute to anything useful or interesting besides nodes
>Makes Noding both completely essential and an obstacle at the same time
>Pointless Guilds
mechanics
>Skill Tree is a hot mess
>Nodes... why are these even a thing
>Pvp is utterly abysmal
>Bosses are too easy
FF14 is available on steam.
BTW what's the monthly subscription for FF14?
>being poor
lol
It's not a bad game but it is definitely not the best mmo.
That award goes to the mmo you hate most
...
probably ff14, if only i could FUCKING DOWNLOAD IT. some people just can't download the game through the game client for GOD knows what reason, it's absolutely ludicrous
>tfw a buy2play Archeage is my ideal MMO
>tfw they just couldn't help themselves by fucking up a promising game.
Out of current MMO offerings, Runescape is unironically the best.
>paying for DLC
Is this another thread where we all pretend wow doesnt exist
Am i too early and ruining the roleplay session here
gw1 servers are still running so that's still the best mmo
t. Wrathbabby
Archeage beta was some of the best fun I've ever had in an MMO. Being an actual pirate and commandeering ships/plundering trade vessels was the best. But Trion just had to fuck it all up.
Albion Online and its not even close
unironically GW2, but treat it as an mmo with a 20 dollars buy in instead of a f2p with an expac.
People give it a lot of shit since it isn't really anything like the first game, but it's very good in its own right.
It's one of the few times a game delivered on most of its promises.
Then it fucking ruined everything that worked. It makes me so mad because I remember the beta as well, and everything I wanted to do in an MMO was finally possible.
Unironically OSRS
>it's very good in its own right.
The instanced PvP is fucking dead and the world v world is just a zergfest.
The PvE is hot garbage and the story is even worse.
the only good thing in the entire game was exploration and leveling.
Rest is a steaming pile of dog shit, and I've bought it on release.
>but it's very good in its own right.
No. No it is not. The only thing it's really got going for it is that the endgame grind is for cosmetic rewards, not a gear treadmill (excluding ascended stats, which make ~10% difference in damage and defense).
That said, it is the best MMO on the market, but that's less a compliment to GW2, and more a statement of MMOs as a whole.
>people still think Koreans can put out anything half-decent
I tried Metin2 once
Never again
It was fun up until they decided to go full pay to win
>shop adds a thunder tree saplings with a 3/4 chance of proc
>completely made the vast guild made tree farms pointless
>you will never again experience raiding a tree farm while a dozen other guilds do the same thing
>you will never have one appear just close enough to not instant kill you so you can have your tank friend put a barrier up so you can steal it
It had the potential to replace WoW but the korean devs and trion just had to fucking ruin it by getting greedy.
>unironically GW2
AAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
>tfw you just want to play GW1 but the game is fucking dead as shit
So many builds. So much fun for years.
And then we got GW2 which might as well have been a completely new IP.
I will never understand why people on Sup Forums think that a game focused entirely around PVP would replace WoW, an almost entirely PVE focused game.
will the /gw2g/ bot ever stop
Dofus
BnS
I still remember the bitter disappointment of launch, seeing how they'd thrown the overwhelming majority of the core concepts that made GW1 the unique game it was.
And shortly after launch, in a press event of some sort, Colin Johanson was asked something to the effect of "What do you say to the veteran GW1 players who don't like the changes GW2 has made?"
His response? "They can go play GW1." Just utterly spitting in the faces of all of the players that even made GW2 possible.
Hasn't this been going for 6 months now? The only thing more autistic than the guy who made the script is the guy who keeps making new generals.
Nothing is going to replace WoW until the servers get shut off or the US gets nuked. Mark my words, WoW will still be alive 20 years from now. There are so many people hopelessly addicted to that game that I'm pretty sure it will be running until something physically forces Blizzard to shut it down.
Because all Korean MMOs look the same.
13€ for 8 chars on each server 10€ for 1 char on each server
Also its lame as fuck with a 2.5s global cooldown and fucking combo system
1 2 3 4
1 2 5 6
1 2 3 4
1 2 7 8
1 2 3 4
Also a majority of the armor looks gay as fuck
Life.
Vindictus
Ive never played a final fantasy game
will i be lost if i pick up 15? i have a feeling i will
also can someone give me a quick rundown because i have no idea what the game is about or the gameplay. i thought it was a single player rpg, not an MMO
Show me anything better than this gem I dare you
>floaty, laggy combat: the mmo
No thanks
>there's an entire generation now who haven't played GW1
>but they won't play it because it's "old" and it "looks ugly"
How do we fix MMO gamers, Sup Forums?
ESO. I don't understand how someone enjoying MMORPG's wouldn't enjoy ESO unless they absolutely hate the Elder Scrolls universe.
There is nothing you need to know about any previous FF to play XIV. It's a stand-alone story for the most part.
>floaty, laggy combat
Hm?
that's only when you team up with other players
if you're autistic enough you can run everything alone since all the missions up until like level 60 are designed to be played solo
Totally not a marketer.
FFXIV is probably the only MMO worth investing any sort of time into these days.
Rest are past their prime like WoW or so shit they're not worth the time investment. If i wasn't a worthless NEET leech i'd be playing FFXIV right now probably.
How long does endgame content like raids take? I like MMOs but I have nowhere near as much free time as I used to.
Do i still have to plow through shitloads of story content to get to the current end game
Dead
Dead.
how about i make you dead motherfucker.
Well then you can't really qualify it as a good mmo.
(FF14)
It's funny because this is over 4 years ago and the game doesn't play remotely like that anymore. It's just spamming your iframe dodge or invuln skill when the boss looks in your direction.
The character creation looked nice but thanks to this comment I doubt I'll ever play. I was having fun with blade & soul up until it turned into just straight up farming for moonwater transformation stones every day.
XIV/GW2 sadly
>GW2
Don't even joke about playing that trash.
jesus man, if you're the advocate for BDO you're just making it look worse. stop replying anytime.
SWTOR hands down
you mean how long does it take to get to the point of raiding or how long does a single raid take to finish?
Because in the /tesog/ guild we have had real lowbies do the normal raids and be fine albeit very not optimal. To get to the point of serious raiding might be a few hundred hours depending on if you know what you are doing to optimize time and farming.
As for the time it takes to beat one a full raid might between half an hour to a full hour depending on your deeps and people in general.
fuck off with this shit man Im trying to talk about videogames here.
Vindictus 2 when
There isn't one.
LoL and WoW killed MMORPGs and then shot themselves on the kidney.
The MMORPG general on /vg/ is so dead they are talking about card games now just to stay afloat.
Light Attack, Heavy Attack, Block, Interrupt
Most mobs you fight will cast something you need to block or interrupt or move out off. That means you cant kill mobs as mindlessly as in a standard tab target mmo.
Also new people who try it can have difficulties making an efficient build, so they run out of resources and it ends up taking a long time to kill things.
There is also animation cancelling which means that to play efficiently you look spastic as fuck just starting to swing your sword and then insta blocking and shit like that. Breaks immersion and looks silly.
..What is the point of a general for an entire genre? Thats retarded.
Yea I meant raid length. Getting geared for it is something I can eventually get to, but I remember spending hours in wow raids
Come at me little man, I'm like 163 cm tall.
wow is still on top by a mile and it's not close. no matter if you personally like raiding, pvp etc., if you tried to objectively compare the breath and depth of mmos nothing would even remotely come close to wow. that's just the way it is.
>Also its lame as fuck with a 2.5s global cooldown
play ninja
if you don't press a skill at least once a second you're playing the game wrong
Best MMO
If you have been playing MMOs for a while:
Unironically OSRS is probably the best MMO
If you're new to MMOs:
WoW.
As someone who joined during TBC, played most of WoTLK & Cata, as well as some of MoP and WoD, I can safely say the game is dead to me now. But, I can't deny that WoW does have a shitton of content, and that it's easily the most polished MMO on the market, especially when it comes to how the controls/combat feel. Someone who's new to MMOs or hasn't ever played WoW, should probably play WoW.
I only recognize Blade & Soul and XIV elements, what else do you see?
No matter how many times you ask the answer is still going to be that there are no good mmos right now.
there's a general for 4x games as well and it's actually one of the best on /vg/
Yeah so that really depends on the people you are doing them with. A top tier raiding guild that is just doing farm runs can do them in about half an hour or less while a new guild full of moms and new players that dont know the mechanics might take an hour.
Really depends on the group and what version you are doing. You arent gonna spend hours in one raid unless its brand new and everyone is learning it together but thats rare.
...
I never played the beta but I've heard basically this from everyone that ever played it so I ask; Why hasn't anyone made a pserver of what the beta was like?
>.gif
where's that from? I need to watch the entire show
Right pic
>pull several packs
>use 2-3 ground aoe dots
>they die almost immideately
>can't kill you because strong self heal/shield or both
>repeat
for single target
>cast all ground aoe dots you have
>cast single target dot if you have it
>use single target skill 1-2 times
>repeat
that's your gameplay for every dps class possible in game, game should be renamed "AoE DoTs Online". Also loot system is too rng heavy.
Dungeons feel so bad in that game though. The different roles don't feel like they were designed to work together at all.
Everything about it is horrible. I can only aasume the people who like it havent played another MMO in their lives.
>Auction house is literally rng
Yeah no thanks. Never trust games made by gooks.
You just described ff14
>ff14
>literally zero pve content outside of paddling a boat into poorly rendered water
I know you're shitposting, but come on...
