It isnt the best looking game ever, but it does make me wonder if Sega would have still been in the console business had this game come out and the Saturn was a success in the west. I just wonder what these companies do with canceled or beta versions of games, especially if there are any known copies that have survived this long.

Because, for better or worse, Inafune was the only guy trying to keep Mega Man alive when he was at Capcom. Once he left, Capcom buried the franchise and never looked back (besides the shitty cartoon coming out).

This game looked so fucking misguided.

Like, it was obviously intended to be the Saturn's answer to the N64's Mario 64 and Playstation's Crash Bandicoot, and yet while those games had full 3D polygonal models, Sonic had this cheap looking 2.5D aesthetic with sprites.

Sonic Jam's Sonic World is basically what I'd imagine a proper 3D Sonic game for Saturn would look like. Incidentally it ended up becoming Sonic Adventure.
