What the fuck happened for such a beautiful handheld to fail?
Call Of Duty Black Ops declassified was pretty damn good.
Vita is the best weeb machine.
Vita 2 this TGS
This.
It had nothing but weebshit
That was the problem.
way too expensive memory cards
Stupid memory cards and iPhones killed it.
You are gonna be disappointed. Is not happening.
the vita is the GBA 2
despite the digital purchases monopoly sony put on its backwards compatibility, it has the largest library of any single handheld.
400 more games than the GBA (approx 1,050) (including JP)
plus the PSP library (860)
plus the PS1 Library (almost 2500 PSX games available via piracy)
(PS2 remakes count as Vita titles already)
i understand those numbers are pretty ridiculous in terms of time commitment, but there's just so much to be enjoyed with the thing. I love my Vita.
I like my Vita a lot. It hasn't gotten as much use as my other 3 platforms this gen and was kind of an impulse purchase but at the end of the day I'm not upset that I have one.
My friend bought one after he saw mine and he went out and bought one almost instantly. He's in absolute love with the thing. I really don't understand it. I think he may have bought into the power meme a little bit too much/doesn't fully understand streaming. He seems to think PS3/360/Dolphin emulation is going to be a possibility on this thing one day and I think culprit for it might be that he doesn't quite understand what is happening between his Vita and PS4 during crossplay/my WiiU tablet and my WiiU
Unless I'm completely retarded about hardware and actually the Vita is in fact that powerful.
OP here, pic in the first post was mine.
I lost mine years ago, she had 14 games in her case.
>Powerful
maybe in 2012. It's ancient by today's standards. Smartphones are stronger now.
High chances it is happening. There have been multiple manufacturing job postings for a new Sony portable console
blog.esuteru.com
blog.esuteru.com
zero support is wrong. they gave normies games like
>MLB the show
>killzone
>jak and daxter
>ratchet
>sly cooper
>uncharted
>assassin's creed
>CoD
there were others i'm forgetting. i used to check craigslist for video games a few years ago and you wouldn't believe how many used vitas were available with these same games. they just didn't like the hand held thing
What a shameless rip off.
Fucking hell I hope it's not that design
Give me a Vita again with clickable sticks maybe and l2 and r2, not retarded memory cards, advertisement that doesn't get them sued out of being able to legally advertise, and Sony support.
Also Kingdom Hearts 3 portable.
I really liked the Vita, but now that Switch is out I have zero reasons to care for it.
Literally every game you listed was sold in a bundle with the vita at some point.
You saw so many of those games because literally everyone had them.
I just want an Xperia Play 2017.
kek but the vita gets more games
You are gonna be dissapointed.
>No MH
It was doomed from the start.
Wasn't a bad system apart from the memory cards, just got squeezed by the competition.
>still no 3.65 hack
Memory cards.
The expansive library doesn't matter when you have to download 90% of it and there is no expandable memory outside of wholly overpriced first party memory cards.
>ZERO Support
It had support. The thing is, people don't understand that support outside of 1st party titles exist.
>Cheap as fuck dev kits
>Assistance from Sony themselves to help polish Vita titles/versions
>Everywhere but America has massive Vita sections; Europe is hit-or-miss in some areas
>Still getting games in Japan and still getting these titles in America well into 2019
>Devs stating multiple times over the last year and last few months that they won't move on from the Vita unless they literally are unable to break even.
>Second largest gaming library at 1410 games
>Still getting LE renditions and still being made in the Asian countries (officially outliving the 3DS)
>mfw I got five Vita titles on pre-order and two others bundled together with these pre-orders laying in wait
>mfw people who say the Vita is bad are literally meme spouting and are hard to take seriously now
How so?
The OP made me think about it; does the Vita also have all these visual design plates/stickers the PSP had? Any links?
It most likely won't happen. It took like, 4 years for anything to even begin and Sony is constantly patching out any exploits they can.
>Rip-off
>Patent was made in 2015 well before anybody knew of the Switch
?????
Come on nigga...
I just bought a second hand vita last month. It's pretty sweet lads. I only have P4G and Gravity rush but there are a bunch of other games I want to get. Only have an 8gb memory card though...the memory card shit is a huge buzzkill. I don't want to drop $100 for a 64gb one
They fucked up by releasing a lcd version.
OLED is the best screen, doesnt even burn in except for maybe a spot you see when the screen is black for like 2 seconds.
this post made me very happy. thanks user.
unfortuantely
i just replaced my Vita and i was excited as fuck to play some Spyro games on it, but there aren't any on its PSN store. I just don't understand why.
People who think the Vita 2 are happening are even dumber than people who think the PS5 is happening.
Why wouldn't the PS5 happen
I'm really conflicted because I like my Vita a lot but I'd like to play 3.65 games but don't want to give up emulation.
The only reason anybody thinks the Vita 2 could potentially happen is due to the job listings from Sony asking for a new software designer to create a music app for a portable gaming device last year.
Just buy a euro psn card, get another memory card then make euro account.
Spyro and crash games are on the euro store and I believe they are the american version(aka no shitty pal framerate)
poke around at exchanges or pawn shops. places will buy these memory cards. i got a 32GB one for about 60 Leafbux which believe it or not is kind of a bargain
I'd be happy if Sony produced a Switch look alike. With how the Vita went though, I'm not hopeful. Something tells me it will only turn into the next generation weeb device. Even worse, I doubt they'll make the thing work with standardized memory cards and instead continue to opt for expensive proprietary memory storage again.
I would like to be surprised though.
How does it look like Switch again?
You are probably thinking about mura, not burn in.
a PSP can emulate most of what the Vita can with relative ease (and is very cheap and easy to hack, ~50$), unless i'm ignorant to any PS2 emulation on the Vita.
Mura is different from burn-ins.
Mura is something all OLEDs have and the burn-in issues only affect Vitas that have been on four hours without anything changing, nor the screen dimming.
So literally impossible unless you're actively attempting to burn an image
It's a screen with controllers attached to the side.
No AAA titles, so normies didn't buy it.
A console normies don't buy is a "failure" despite being a financial success because true success only comes with mainstream crossover appeal that makes investors happy.
The Vita is pretty great.
Yes thats exactly it. Most people like myself called it burn in but you learn something new everyday.
Either way OLED Vitas look the best regardless. Disgusting bland colors on the lcd screen.
You mean like a PSP?
Shitty memory cards, no real great titles on launch.
>yfw the Wii U is listed as a commercial failure but the Vita isn't
>The Vita not only outlived the Wii U, but outsold it by millions
I was assuming Sony's proto has the controllers become detachable like the Switch. Again, an assumption on my part.
No like a Switch
>The vita is good if you like niche weeb games.
Yes we know, EVERYBODY knows.
Looks like sin.
See the patent They're not detachable.
Well if you dislike the games on Vita you'll probably hate the games on PS4 since 90% of its library consists of upscaled Vita titles
You faglords portables are still HUGE in Japland and it doesn't exactly cost them much to also produce them in the west. Sony will continue making them. It's likely they will try to use them to capitalize on their current technologies like Playstation Now and other streaming services.
Is there any video game console, where there are no indie video games, and where there are only AAA video games?
I totally avoid any crap indie game
Sony too stupid to market in the west
Memory cards in general
Indy and Weeb games galore
>Personal Nitpick
No dock or cables to do what the PSP 2000/3000/go did, TV out
Anyone saying no MonHun is an idiot.
>Sony too stupid to market in the west
They had a lawsuit filed against them which led to all commercials made by the company they hired to be banned.
Are there any ways to hack psp or vita to play or emulate ps2 games? I would totally get one if there was
There is but it's completely round-about and not worth doing.
Because they went full anal with the custom firmware protection.
PSP was a great machine despite having pretty similar lukewarm support just because of the fact that the custom firmware turned it into an emulator machine that worked very well.
Xbox One. Nothing but the flashiest of AAA blockbusters.
Didn't catch on in Western (NA plus EU) regions at all. Did okay in Japan hence it is still supported by Jap devs but no one else.
I have a launch OLED PSV. It's a good piece of tech but the library is absymal for a non-weeb such as myself. Just collecting dust...luckily I stopped updating in mid 2013 so I was able to get hacks on it and play the handful of games that look interesting before retiring it to my garage storage bin.
The firmware protection allowed for niche devs to thrive so I'm indifferent towards it.
I believe in XBOX ONE there is also indie shit
And what console retro?
I want to totally avoid any shit from indie games
I mean it's not terrible but since I don't like niche weeb games and bought the thing early not knowing that it's easily my least used of my gaming PC, WiiU, 3DS, and it.
>Still getting games in Japan and still getting these titles in America well into 2019
Yeah but what? And of what quality? And where else can I play them?
>Devs stating multiple times over the last year and last few months that they won't move on from the Vita unless they literally are unable to break even.
It's easy money? The attach rate on the console is insane. I'm not a dev so I don't care.
>Second largest gaming library at 1410 games
If this is not counting PSone and PSP at all and really just exclusively PSVita there's a LOT of shit you don't want to play in that library. Nobody is arguing that it has bad multiplatform support. PSone, PSP, some other stuff vita the store or hacking and Vita games isn't a bad library. Just Vita games kinda is though.
>Still getting LE renditions and still being made in the Asian countries (officially outliving the 3DS)
Because the 3DS is getting a replacement.
The Dreamcast got games into 2014, it outlived the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube too. But the 3DS and especially WiiU are also a pretty viable piracy machine right now and the Switch will fill the same niche as the Vita eventually.
>mfw I got five Vita titles on pre-order and two others bundled together with these pre-orders laying in wait
What are they I genuinely want games to play on this guy.
Also,
>Preordering
>mfw people who say the Vita is bad are literally meme spouting and are hard to take seriously now
>mfw people who don't like the vita are more than entitled to that opinion because it's niche as fuck with a limited appeal
I can never tell if these "X has a HUEG LIBRARY" meme shots are from craft retailers or just desperate owners of said console who literally gobble up shovelware and sports games to try to make a twisted point.
They released the PS4 Pro in the same generation as the PS4 in order to cover the 4K market, as a lot of people now have 4K capable TV's. Microsoft is doing the same thing with XBOX, which heavily implies the creation of a long lasting platform.
The PC architecture contained within consoles have reached functional peak. They can output 4K, and anything above that would not only be redundant, but stupidly expensive. Considering one of the major reasons (and selling points) of new consoles getting made are it's increases in graphical fidelity, you can see why a PS5 makes little sense. This is of course discounting something revolutionary in terms of tech happening that somehow raises graphics and performance for a low price.
PS4 has a stupidly large adoption rate and PS+ is generating a stupid amount of money. Risking breaking that up by investing heavily into a new console that you never know people may decide to buy would be a very poor financial decision. People won't buy the PS5 for exclusives alone - there has to be something more to it, and currently the PS4 covers it all.
gotta admit it looked pretty good except for the oval face buttons
why they didn't go with a row along the bottom of the screen for auxiliary buttons is beyond me, would've been a nice nod to the classic look of the PSP and probably would've also looked cleaner. Also the pattern on the 'touch pad' thing on the back looked weird to me when it first came out.
as for why it failed, it was overpriced, had little in the way of games except for weebshit, and the memory cards were expensive as fuck.
the AT&T partnership thing for cellular functions was pointless and a bad idea in general, I remember it getting booed when it was first announced.
No way Sony would be dumb enough to make another PSP / Vita, they're gonna double down on PS4 if anything.
so its a less versatile switch.
cool.
This gen was literally N.Gage 2 vs Virtual Boy 2
Not him but I have more Vita games than I have Steam games. If you take into account only physical titles, that would be 60 boxes -- just enough to cover three shelves.
The thing about the Vita is that they're $20 cheaper than the PS4 versions, and with prime discounts end up being $32 for day-one purchases. For smaller games, that price goes down to ~$10 - ~$20, so seeing large library collections on Vita isn't really that rare.
On the other hand, a lot of Vita titles are hefty as fuck for resale too, so these people could be playing the market.
>Ar nosurge+ LE gets made
>$60
>A few months go buy
>People now buy the Ar nosurge+ LE for $400
Surprisingly enough, Vita devs aren't making it on PS4 nor PC.
I love mine. Mostly play classic PS1 JRPGS on it. Recently started Wild Arms. I really like how you can just put it to sleep so you don't have to sit through the loading menus etc. when you turn a console on.
Because there's a strong percentage of Vita owners who'll buy almost anything
No there isn't. There may be a very small minority that buys a bunch of Vita games but the reason why devs found a home on the Vita is because those devs found a reliable 20k fans who legitimately like their work.
The Vita is composed of multiple microcosms that these devs individually appeal to.
based on what exactly? I can imagine PS4 owners didn't jump all over Tearway or Gravity Rush because they were primarily Vita games to start, but I find it hard to believe that new PS4 only titles won't sell better than they would on the Vita.
Good to know because fuck having to buy another new gen console in another year or two
What are some PS4 games made by Vita devs which didn't originally start off on a franchise beginning on the Vita?
That seems like a very specific subset of gaming to look at.
You're fault
No this is Patrick
how many of those fuckers are VNs?
Vita is the best handheld ever in terms of tech/design. It's a shame it didn't even receive half of PSP's support. If it did, it would've been the best handheld of all time.
Maybe if Nintendo unfucks themselves and release an actual portable version of Switch with a proper d-pad it might be dethroned.
Only one I'm aware of coming up is Days Gone.
Gravity Rush 2 and Tearaway Unfolded both came to PS4 and didn't sell great, but neither were heavily marketed for PS4.
Sony exclusives sell like shit on the PS4. Bloodborne did 3 million on a console of 60 and that's one of their better faring titles.
Sony being so far up their own asses thinking it'll sell with no killer app at or near launch, then a second kick in the balls with the memory card price.
> powerful
For what? 2011?
All the games run at a fucked up resolution that makes everything look unsettling
Everybody I know with one agrees, yet I've never seen this mentioned here
First party support was dropped like a brick, the rear touch-pad is fucking stupid and the memory card prices were insane.
It's a damn shame, especially when the Vita has the best D-Pad ever made.
For the time it was released, it was a very nice machine.
>We could make the vita accessible by having it use micro SD cards which everyone can get easily
>OR we could have proprietary memory that costs like 80 dollars for 4 GBs, but nobody will fucking buy it because of this
No killer app, games only appeals to otaku's, shit western marketing, and expensive proprietary memory cards.
>I believe in XBOX ONE there is also indie shit
Just don't play it you absolute fucking mong
