Yeah, if you backtrack to an area you otherwise have no reason to go to, and the rewards are insignificant until you get most of them.
Many collectibles reward you, there's nothing special about it.

Backtracking there is trivial with fast travel.
Many collectibles don't reward you or the rewards are shit, they are just padding, or they reward you once you get all of them. Also they are not stupidly hard to find. It feels really good when the grub fathers showers you in money. Also, it's not just some lifeless object in the world, it feels like you are helping someone
