Should I buy a cartidge for Danw of Sorrow or Portrait of Ruin? Should I go through the hassle of setting up ePSXe (it's been years) again and emulate SOTN? Should I do something else?

I like PoR better for a reason... I fucking loathe the touchscreen implementation in DoS. Which otherwise is the better game.

Thanks for the tip. I used to have them both way back, but I sold them along with my old DSlite. I now have a 3DS though, so I can run the cartridges on that. Maybe I'll get them both, depends on how expensive they are.

Set up epsxe and play sotn. If you enjoyed it, buy a flashcart for the ds(recommend r4i gold) for like $20, you can load as many games as you want on it. Used games are a meme.

Forgot to add. I rather liked DoS (but I didn;t much like the obligatory stylus implementation), but PoR didn't really get much playtime. I don;t remember much about it.

AoS much lower res. Its a large downgrade honestly and what puts me off of the game to this day. Because I feel like half the enemies are just shittier looking versions of the ones from SotN and Rondo. Granted I guess its better than Slowdown Castlevania 4

Another tip from me, play aria of sorrow in a gba emulator after you beat sotn and you're waiting for the flashcart to arrive. Dawn of sorrow on the ds is a prequel to it. Also keep in mind thar sotn and aria of sorrow/dawn of sorrow have good/bad endings, so if the game ends abruptly, you know there's more content.

Yeah, doing a simple pattern when you kill a boss ruins the entire game.

I remember this being clunky and grindy. Like something about the physics and hit detection was off. We played it like one time around launch and never went back. And I love Castlevania

I own the game on cart and have a flashcart. I'm just saying it's a total pain in the ass on emulators, which is a legitimate complaint for people who want to play the game on a tv or don't own a ds.

CotM is the hardest, with OoE being second. Other than that they're pretty easy, but still good games.
