Not him but even I can tell that they are sorted by gameplay genre and top is good and bottom is bad. The left cluster is the sidescrolling classic castlevanias. The center cluster is metroidvanias. The right clusters are the 3D adventure games with a gap between the ones that are coherent + play well and then nu-castlevania and the awful N64 games on the bottom.

I'm in castlevania phase too, I went with sotn, then castlevania 3 with Sypha (never done it before, I always went Grant or Alucard), now I'm on Bloodlines and it's tougher than I remember

Aria of Sorrow and Rondo of Blood are the two best games in the series.

Symphony of the Night is the most significant, but Aria is the more polished game of the two. Symphony is not overrated by any means though and should be played, maybe even first.

Rondo plays the best of all the classic style Castlevania games. It's a little bit of a bitch to emulate, but you can figure it out.

3D Castlevania is bad and should only be played once you have exhausted all the other titles.

Dracula X is kinda a butchered SNES port of the original. Most fans preffer the Original or the PSP Remake (Dracula X Chronicles)

The PSP uses 3D graphics on a 2D space. Also, hidden in the game as a collectible there is a fully playable version of SOTN with upgrades voices.

I would just emulate Rondo with Retroarch. Easiest way to get it up and running. Make sure to get a good rip though, the Mednafen core can be picky.

The game runs just fine. Not sure if you're talking about the Dracula X remake or the revamped SoTN, but both run smooth.

I played through Dracula Chronicles X on PSP mainly because it had both the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night as unlockables in the game, which I played through both. It played alright but really the 3d models lose all the soul of the what made the original games styles and themes good, and the original Rondo of Blood was a lot better experience overall. I thought Rondo of Blood was better than Castlevania IV
