Physical media is important, but I think it's time to start moving on from Blu-ray Discs. Games like Forza 7 with 4K assets are almost 100gb, and there's no way to store that much in a Bluray. Unless you want a digital only future, we need to go back to carts or something

A digital only future is far more likely though. BDs are used because they're dirt fucking cheap to manufacture, Flash media of a similar capacity is assloads more expensive and if you want it to be fast enough to run the game directly off the cart, welcome to a whole another realm of expensive.
