Call me a fucking shill but this game is fucking great--well worth the little money I paid for it

Call me a fucking shill but this game is fucking great--well worth the little money I paid for it.

Yeah, it's pretty good.

Better than Ori, IMO. Much meatier and no weird difficulty spikes.

No, you're pretty much right, it was pretty good. Not the second coming of fucking Christ, but good.

You're a fucking shill. You're not discussing the game. All you're doing is mentioning the game. For no reason. All you want to do is tell people that you paid for it and you're happy; like that is supposed to fucking mean anything to me. Like your opinion means anything to me.

Your favorite area?
Definitely the Ancient Basin for me. Definitely has the "dug too deep" vibe, which always spooks me.

shill

I loved it. I think i'm about 2/3 of the way through but i'm waitinf for the dlc to drop before I complete it.

when is it releasing anyway? supposed to be this month?

Greenpath or City of Tears.
Love green vegetation areas and dark rainy areas.
Also it kinda reminds me of Burmecia, one of my most favorite scenery in vidya

Yeah, it's this month.
Fuck. That's another 30 hours down the drain. I wonder if they'll change the order in which you play areas and get powerups.

Got confirmed for August 3rd, actually.

It's almost as if he wants to open a thread with something positive, so that people can discuss the game.
After all, that's what OPs are for Other than sucking dicks

But... I'm going to be on vacation!
And if I weren't on vacation, I'd probably be right in the middle of Sundered!

That's what generals are for. Bringing up the game for the sake of it is what shills do. If you have nothing specific in mind then you shouldn't be making a fucking thread.

user, it's time for bed

Does it ever occur to you that some people on this board actually like video games? Maybe he just thinks it's a fun game and wants to discuss it.
HK doesn't have a nearly big enough playerbase to make a general, and there aren't that many threads about it here nowadays.

cringe

Deepnest

No other area in any 2D or platformer game made me feel this anxious, especially when visiting it straight after the Mantis Lords

If you think that's what generals are for you didn't see how things were before generals got their own board.

Would I like this game if I mostly hate platformers but loved Ori (cute/beautiful, good soundtrack, responsive controls and good freedom of movement, no shitty ass jumps to something out of screen with extreme precision needed but still challenging, very nice moments like the ginso tree escape I just couldn't get enraged at because of how well-executed it felt)?

Well, Ori was a pure platformer pretty much. The game was all about jumping and arcobatics ("platforming"), where action took a back seat and was mainly an afterthought way to handle character progression

Hollow Knight has a good deal of mobility options but they take longer to unlock, so you might feel very limited movement-wise for the first few hours, and it's much more focused on action. No more auto-target blob that fights for you. You have to kill things with your sword.

It's far harder than Ori and like three times as long for a regular playthrough

I would say you'd likely hate it. Ori only has some aspects of a Metroidvania, while this is a Metroidvania game through and through

You don't know true horror, friend.
>Get to deepnest without knowing about the lantern
>Most of it is pretty easy
>Don't really have a phobia of spiders and insects, so I'm good
>Get to the dark part
>Ohfuck.jpg
>Trial and error my way over a few spike pits
>Hear a VERY ominous rumbling noise from the left
>It gets louder and louder
>panicpanicpanic
>Suddenly this asshole comes ot of fucking nowhere and smacks away my two remaining lives
>Mfw

Probably. Most of the hardest stuff is optional end-game content.

The difficulty curve is well-planned. It start out very easy and slowly builds up in difficulty. Overall, I still thought it was a little too easy (excepting the end-game stuff like Trial of Fools and White Palace).

The effect of a two-heart damage attack is just so great. It basically makes you feel the impact

I still can't believe I beat the Radiance
Looking back it's all a big blur
of tears

>All the weird semi hidden lore and weird side stories
Was this all kicksarter backers stuff or did they make all these lose ends for the dlc's/sequels?

come to bed with me, user

story is too hard to follow. only tiny bits and pieces are scattered everywhere, cryptic shit is said early on that only makes sense in hindsight, by the time I got to the end and fought some shiny moth bitch I had no idea who I was fighting or why

the game is all about exploration, but it doesn't let you buy maps out of order, which is counter-intuitive to the whole exploration aspect of the game. So despite supposedly being a non-linear game, you end up having to guess where the game wants you to go in a linear fashion

the bossfights were fun though

I played Ori first and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I played HK and fucking fell straight in love with it.
Ori is a bit more of a cinematic journey, while Hollow Knight is much more like an old-school metroidvania. The feels won't blow you away like they did with Ori, but the game as a whole plays and controls a lot tighter and less floaty.

It has much more focus on exploration, and using your noggin to figure out where to go next, getting new movement abilities to unlock new locations.

Can I play this on an arcade stick?

it alright

>Blue pendant and fragile heart with grubberfly ans quick slash
I was screaming and mashing as hard as possible

I'm not BAD at platformers, they just make me really mad. Watching me play through Super Meat Boy was a friend of mine's favorite past-time because I got stuck very often compared to most other platformers I played.
Fighting I can do, I'm just worried about the platforming really.

Guess I'll pick it up during the next sales then. Thanks for your opinions.

city of tears was really beautiful and fun to explore, fungal wastes had interesting enemies and good music

If you use the dreamnail on random enemies, you can kinda figure out a lot of the basic outlines of the story, like
>Bright light=bad
>Abyss=Good(or at least neutral)
>King is long gone
>Everything is literally fucked by bright light
The platforming in this game is honestly not that hard, nowhere NEAR as hard as SMB. Except for one of the late optional areas that is required to get the true ending

Godspeed.

My experience was more jarring that anything else, I fell down the trap entrance while having a nice comfy time in the fungal wastes

Shaman stone with maximum blue hearts I found easier. That way you only have to hit him when you need more soul to cast more shrieks.

Greenpath or City of Tears. Both of them hit the right strings with making me realize just how much I love this game.

Why did the devs decide to block off random pathways later in the game? I can't use the main gates of the City of Tears anymore, and a number of passages in the Crossroads become impassable after the infection spreads. I could understand if this was needed to corral the player into a specific place or to keep them out of a place, but they don't actually do that. I can still go anywhere I want, it's just less convenient.

Kingdom's Edge, simply for that moment when you reach it, and the musci kicks in for the first time
Honorable mentions goes to The Abyss, because I love the "dug too deep" vibe too, and because No cost too great

The city of tears is supposed to be a one way passage, for lore reasons.
Infected Crossroads is just fucking stupid though.

...

>Get to discuss your favorite game of all time AND get to watch someone's autism go nuclear
Man, is there anything this game can't do?

What? I'm pretty sure you can get most maps whenever you want.
I assume you're talking about the map being the black barrier in that jellyfish zone?
You can get that if you come from behind.

How can my abyss vessel possibly be this cute?

Not him but I'm playing through it first time right now, and it's pretty annoying to have to find the map guy in each level before you can see the map at all. Also I thought the whole point of buying stuff from his wife was so you could make your own map and he would become obsolete but your still forced to have no map until you find him. Fun game though

I have never shared this point of view. I think the lack of a map when you enter a new area makes for more fun exploration. You aren't immediately handed every room you enter. Makes the effort of having to remember rooms until you find the map guy much more satisfying.

Im pretty sure the paper trail that leads towards him can be found as soon as you enter the new area.

I hated it at first, but I kind of liked it after a while. It's another "upgrade" to find, and it was always something I eagerly awaited.

Nah, sometimes he's really far away from the entrance, like in Waterways.

>Already 100%ed the game
>Just now noticed that Quirrel's mask looks like Monomon's face

I remember thinking the wife's items would let me mark the map too. I think it's worded that way, but "you" means the character not the player.

Her items are still useful tho, as they automatically mark the map with most of the important points.

And I liked finding Conifer. First time entering an area really feels unknown, desperate search for him, hearing his humming always gets me excited, the map he gives isn't fully filled out (but automatically includes places you've already been).
Gives the benefits of the map while keeping an air of mystery and providing an exciting reward.

I've gone through areas dozens of times with no map guy in sight, only to come back later after a bossfight and then suddenly he's there

it's annoying as fuck

I finished the normal ending just today and am about to bash my head against the true final boss until I defeat it.
I never expected so many hours out of this game but I don't regret a thing.
>mfw White Palace

I noticed it as soon as I met him in front of the library. He said the place was calling him so it just clicked at that point.

What?

I don't even know how this is possible.

What areas/bosses. How far into it are you? Cornifer was always so easy to find. There's always papers every room nearby and you can hear him from far away. Plus, he's usually near the entrance.

In truly baffled

Did you do trial of fools? I was going to try to beat that before final boss but goddamn i may never finish the game this way.

The only one that is hard to find is Fog Canyon. I never found him until I was at the end of the game

Nah, you can do that later, I don't even think it counts for 100%.

I remember getting lightly spoiled on White Palace and Trial of the Fool being super hard nightmares before I played the game.
The trial was pretty tough, but only when I went there without fully upgraded gear.
As a person who has almost 100%ed Super Meat Boy, I can say that White Palace isn't all it's cranked up to be.
Except for this part
Until you figure out when and where to dash

Regular final boss was a pushover. Is true boss much harder?

Howling Cliffs

It's a cool game with a lot of fun bits but
>Collision damage, even on fucking fleeing enemies
>Tons of backtracking
>Spikes reset where you are in the room, with the resets often being inconsistent
>Bosses have no health bar
>Enemies hitting you damages you, but that can make you fall into spikes, which is a total shit show

Just did the part where you have to nail-bounce off of the Gorepedes over a huge area of spikes. Every time you hit a spike, you have to restart the entire bit despite there being a moment of respite in the middle of it.

Also annoying is that you can upgrade your weapon a lot, but it's easy to end up on bosses with less skills or upgrades than you should, leading to situations where you have to hit the boss for what feels like hours. Not having health bars makes this issue bigger than it should be because I have no real register of how 'well' I am doing against a boss. I've spent upwards of an hour fighting bosses like Hornet, Mawlek, and Mantis Lords because I was either ill-prepared or had no way to measure how well I was doing.

>Fighting Hornet
>Knock her down
>"Oh! Like every other video game, and even like earlier in this one, I only have to knock her down three times!"
>Knock her down a fourth time, she gets back up
>mfw

Oh yeah. Very much so. I think there was a vote on Reddit where it was voted as the hardest boss in the game, but I'd say some of the dream bosses are probably harder because you probably won't have all the upgrades by then.

I really liked that dirty, dingy, shitty looking area.

Whoops, that's almost all of them.

This part was easy for me because I got it quick. The thing that bothered me the most is that it just kept fucking going. Holy shit, that place is huge.
I'm sure I couldn't have done it without Deep Focus and the Grub charm.

Every one of his attacks deal 2 damage. Do I need to say something else?

Playing through it now
Really loving it.
I just entered into this area :)

>Until you figure out when and where to dash

>tfw it took me way too long to figure out I had to crystal heart my way out of the last part.

>That Sup Forums logo next to his name

Good for you. It's not often you see someone who loves ALL the areas.

forgot to quote

>le reddit and morty
You're not better.

It's just the good ol' cuck badge. They've become something of a rarity these days. Could probably sell it to the guy in City of Tears for a bunch of Geo.

I don't know how much exploring you did, but he is literally not in some areas until after you complete certain plot points

I just normal dashed through that whole section.

What the fuck? Since when do these exist? It's like one of those screenshots predicting how the site would be in 10 years

there's a last part with 3 consecutive spikes that felt impossible to dash through

I got that part figured out right away, but I struggled for WAY too long with the first dash, trying to find the correct spot to stand.

I think pic related is the answer, for reference.

They've been around for years now.

Since some good months ago. It was some incentive Hiro invented to increase the number of donations. Needless to say, nobody uses it except for shitposting.
Maybe you missed /vip/, too?

I beat the shit out of the mantis lords with a +0 nail then got lost in deepnest, ancient basin and kingdom's edge before finally entering resting grounds the wrong way.

Perk for buying a Sup Forums pass I presume? Mind if I borrow it?

I 100% the game but don't remember ever finishing this guy's quest-line. Actually I only remembered he was an npc after finding him on my second playthrough.

you respawn on this first spot whenever you take a hit. That's how a marked it.

you Find his body in kingdoms edge with the rest of the trash

Crystal dash

Hey, don't ask me, I don't have one.
After you complete some of the trials you can find his corpse somewhere below the arena

He's the guy looking for the Colosseum of fools, right?
Get's rekt off-screen and you can find his body on Kingdom's Edge.

Alright, weird.

shill plz

White Palace was actually my favorite area

That word you keep on using.
I don't think you know what it means.

lol, what a pleb.

It's just a solid metroidvania, but also a lot longer than pretty much any other metroidvania I can think of. final boss was way too easy

>ITS LIKE DARK SOULS MEETS CAVE STORY LELE XXDXDX
kill your self

The ghost bosses are really inconsistent in difficulty, imo.

Hollow Knight is easy as fuck.
Radiance isn't.

Wish psn wasnt horseshit so i could pick this on on vita its on sale for ps4 but not vita.

You can destroy the balcony piece below it to get past it.

spam abyss shriek and they are.

>finding nost for the first time
