This actually works.

-use gyro
-play through the campaign
-use the splattershot/tentatek splatershot
-play the objective in ranked but also remember to always paint the ground, territory control is primordial in every mode
-watch good players on youtube like thatsrb2dude or flc and try to learn from them

Turn Gyro on.
Shoot at an angle that covers as much ground as possible, not just straight down. Don't focus on every single pixel, focus on undoing their ink rather than inking blank points, unless of course you notice a particularly empty area.

gyro has a higher skill ceiling but if you don't give a shit about competing just use whatever is more comfortable

gyro is undeniably better, it takes maybe an hour to familiarize yourself with it and then you'll never look back

Don't get me wrong, I see why it's better than stick and I wouldn't go back to it, but even with gyro I'm just fucking awful I can't aim for shit with it. PLS HELP

different user here, i never played splatoon 1 and i found myself struggling to even hit the balloons in the tutorial with the gyro on so i turned it off as soon as i got done with that. what makes the gyro better? is it just able to turn faster or what? after my brief exposure to playing with it in the tutorial i can't imagine how anybody could ever manage to hit what they're aiming at with the gyro on.

you're not supposed to flail with your controller to move the reticule around wildly, you use the right stick to move the camera on the horizontal axis and then you make adjustments with the gyro

allows for more precision, you use the stick to for big turns and use gyro for micro adjustments. also it's easier to hit flick shots with chargers or blasters.

Learning what to prioritize doing in this game is probably the most important aspect- even more so then other shooters.
Just focus on finding out when you should hide, paint, push, and the sort and you'll get good.
