One-handed axes are pretty cool especially when balanced well

I like spears, but you don't see them taking a leading light all too often.

Blunt objects. Hammers can be aesthetic as fuck but I've learned to settle for maces and clubs because they're much more prevalent in video games than a nice hammer.

...

My brother loves big hammers too, but he always says he wants a game where he can have a huge hammer, but still be nimble and dexterous. Usually, he cites the way Ramona Flowers fights in Scott Pilgrim (the movie, I don't think he read the comics).

Pic unrelated.

>inb4 you ruin it with sweet spot mechanics

Morgenstern. Too bad they are not popular at all. But I like axes as well.

I love the idea of a gatling rifle, but it never looks good or makes any sense from an engineering standpoint. The gatling guns in Destiny 2 look kinda cool, but they're just small miniguns rather than a rifle you'd brace on your shoulder.

If you don't want the sweet spot you might as well pick a stick up off the ground.

Yeah I love blunt/hammer weapons as well.
Spears and polearms are my second choice.

>Scythe
>No sweet spot

I mean, it's literally one or the other

> Spears my friend

Gun flail and gun whips.

its a fucking handheld impaling machine that can also BBQ the fuck outta those niggas

just imagine pulling off an amazing hit and having all 9 shots hit the target

It's also simple as fuck to make if you know how.

DMC gave me a power gauntlet fetish.

I like fists and shotguns

Two-handed mauls, especially if they have an armor piercing mechanic.

My nigga
Literally 0 late-game axes that aren't oversized, double-bited ugly things. Simple is best

Sup Forums, tell me games where I can KICK SHIT. Games with a dedicated fucking button to booting something.

brutal doom

Fighting games
Dink Souls

...

This, exanima has the best mauls

That feeling when a swing just connects and sends an enemy sailing across the room? Bliss.

I'm a boring sword & shield person, but mostly a massive slut for shields and big armor. I don't mind walking half a quarter of a mile an hour if I can just facetank my way through everything.

same

Very large swords, or halberds

It really depends on what feels the best in a game, or if something's actually viable. I don't usually care about minmaxing, but for example sticking to pistols when they're blatantly underpowered - even though old west style revolvers are my favourite - is just unfun. Max Payne 3's multiplayer had excellent handguns, I used the basic one, single, with no attachments and came out on top all the time because they were superior to other weapons in certain engagements that you could make happen with skill, because it was a well designed game. For melee I often like knives, but again if they're plain unusable compared to something else they become unfun. Good knives are ones like dual blades in Monster Hunter, and in RPGs where they get bonuses like attack speed and element application.

If I could choose anything and have it be balanced though it would be a gunslinger style revolver, always liked that.

Fist weapons

Gauntlets. Bonus points if they have pistons.

I'm a big fan of polearms, but not really spears. Any game recommendations?
As for firearms, I really like battle rifles and WW2 era semi-automatics.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

Dark Messiah, man.

Sidearm that doesn't suck with infinite ammo.
Quarterstaff and tonfas.
One handed weapons in games where you can independently dual wield two different weapons.

Axe and Shield is one of my favorites
>mfw blockstacking Gladiator in PoE
love it

youtube.com/watch?v=KsVUISS8oHs

Rotatory cannons, revolver cannons and autocannons.

Magic. Hitting things with metal sticks is for retards.

BIG.
MEATY.
SHOTGUNS.

Mount and blade is the obvious choice, all sorts of polearms. The naginata was my personal favorite.

I'm feeling like a basic bitch because I usually ends up using variations of swords and/or daggers

I like dual wielding.

Two-handed axes

Spears/Lances

>Played FFII
>Got Ricard, the Dragoon bro
>Give him dual lightning spears
>He kicked major ass
>Have a boner for Dragoons ever since
>Try FFXIV
>Roll lancer because of my boner
>Make lancer grill
>One of my favorite characters I've made in vidya
>Have undying love of spears ever since

They have good reach and good piercing damage, what's not to like?

Rapiers, daggers, and other sorts of finesse weapons.

Two-handed swords

Three-handed swords

Fear

...

There's a popular Half Life mod that gives you a kick button which makes enemies ragdoll instantly.

If you kick the same spot enough it forms a gravity orb or some shit.

>bkga
>ugly
You better take that back

Double barrel shotgun, sawed off or not, my go-to weapon

...

Agreed. Weapons that are overdesigned always turn me off. Killing machines should always be form following function, with maybe one or two aesthetic pieces engraved, or maybe kill tally scratched in the stock of a gun.

Ifrit >Beowful

You could feel the power behind Ifrit.

thicc and simple axes

Halberds, and pole hammers mostly. Guns in RPGs if they actually work in an interesting way, like Disgaea where the damage is based off of hit and speed instead of some generic attack stat.

Scimitars and cutlasses.
Also khopesh, aka Egyptian sickles.

I just absolutely without a doubt legally acquired Dark Messiah thanks to this thread. I'm ready to kick. Bit excited, I havent gone into a game this blind in I dont know how long.

Don't overlook magic on your Kickventure. Each of the spells have really useful utility functions. Be sure to throw ice blasts on the ground.

>All these gauntlet/fists users

My fuggin niggas

I like the simple things.

Noted. I wont be running kick only, but I will be kicking some ass.

Axes and arm cannons.

i really like bow+arrows in any game

How did TF2 get the Huntsman so right? Every shot is satisfying.

Gigantic hitboxes

Baseball bats LFD2 had one that was really fun to use.

I installed a mod that made it an aluminum bat complete with sounds and everything. Made the most satisfying melee 10 times more satisfying, I've never looked back.

offensive magic, however, is ass until upgradeded

i agree with the giant hitboxes. also high damage.

i play hanzo in overwatch, because he has a bow and he's nowhere near as satisfying as the huntsman. sure, the projectile is faster, but the hitboxes are smaller, so you miss more shots. and even when you hit, you can't just delete high hp enemies like you could delete a heavy.

i also think the huntsman sounds better.

ARMORED
BOOTS

I think we need more of those in video games.
Fists are cool too.

Alternatively, imagine pulling off a dud hit and having all 9 shots hit you.

Just going to throw in another mention for Dark Messiah.

I always like musical instruments as weapons.

spears and maces, both if possible. I'm a practical man who likes to hide behind a tower shield and poke shit while having a mace incase shit gets rough

Half of the reason I bought Killing Floor 2 was that it filled my deep seated love of Gunhammers.

fists if possible. If not probably a Axe or Sword

I'm a sucker for fist based weapons and halberds.

I see you are men of culture aswell.

Went through pretty much the entire game with the battleaxe in DS1. I love that thing.

>i also think the huntsman sounds better.
The meaty THUNK noise it made when you hit stuff, the sound of the bow's rope creaking, and the ever-satisfying static/bell noise the crits made.

it FEELS right. plus i was absolute shit with the rifles, so the huntsman was a welcome change

In fantasy games, I like staves and quarterstaves.

In modern/sci-fi games, I like assault rifles, SMGs, and rapid-fire energy weapons.

I like standard Whips like in Castlevania, but Swordwhips are even better.

fist weapons blunt or sharp

I hate the running animations for female humes.
