Is it too late to get into Overwatch?
I've been holding off on getting it until I build a better PC and I was thinking of getting it for PS4 but playing a FPS with a controller is pretty shit.

It's OVER. just WATCH it now, because playing it is out of the question.
I'm pretty sure it's dead, OP. Dead as in not worth playing anymore. The only time I had fun with the game was right after release.
Nigga a GTX 1050 or an RX 460 can run it just fine. Do you not have $70 to spare?
>playing overwatch
End yourself.
I guess it's pretty easy to get into. There really isn't any kind of grind or anything, except skins. Just buy it and start playing and learning. And no, it's not dead what Sup Forums likes to spout.
Honestly the game's not worth it imo unless you really enjoy FPS games. The fact that there's so few characters and maps, and that they're all so limited makes the game very, very repetitive. Content updates are also far too infrequent.
>too late
No. The game is in it's prime right now. You have about two years before the
>he still plays Overwatch
shitposting
Sort of. We are currently at the season 5. Everyone that just wanted golden guns already got them and they either play Quick or play Competitive without caring. Everyone that wanted to climb probably hit their cap and either have no desire to keep playing or are salty as fuck because their skill can't take them higher. In between of that, there are so many leavers and throwers that roam around completely unpunished, the most they get is a 10 minutes free break to take a piss and then keep trolling.
The community is at its lowest right now. Otherwise is a fun game.
>is it too late to get into a fotm game from last year
Hmm I wonder..
i swear to god i've seen this image before
isn't there a porn version of it?
>The game is in it's prime right now.
Nah it's on the decline, thanks to the amount of people throwing in comp.
it's a good way to get into shooters but you'll probably move on to better games unless you're a casual, it's only good for mindless fun. Just don't fall for the e-sports meme, it's fucking garbage and didn't even dent the big games like blizzturds said it would. once blizzard stops throwing their money into the furnace it'll die out completely.
The problem is that you're late to the party where nobody knows what strategy is good or who they should play. By now Overwatch is a solved game. Everyone has memorized each map by heart, people only play the handful of good characters, and everyone gets incredibly pissy if you don't play the way they expect you to, because you're practically throwing the game.
>mute voice
>squelch chat
>play game
Done, Daddy-O
Then the following happens:
A:
>"X player has left the game. If you leave before X time you will get a loss and a penalty"
B:
>salty fuck stays at the spawn room dancing
Done, daddy-o.
Use the money to buy better games. If you plan to git gud at shooters, this game will just engrave you with bad habits that you have to unlearn
It's fine, albeit a bit shallow. It's gonna be doing well, perhaps growing largely with the destiny 2 in bnet client and if they actually get some gametypes that aren't boring as shit.
My advice, play Titanfall 2 before it's completely dead.
I remember that happening in TF2. I started playing it back when it was in the orange box and thought it was pretty fun messing around with the different classes. Came back years later and hardly recognized it, all sorts of different weapons, and getting shit on non stop cause I didn't know what was going on.
Been wondering the same thing. I don't care about only playing hardcore competitive non-AAA games like Sup Forums and I actually have friends who play it, but I'm still not sure.
It's shit
I haven't played since TF2. I'm sure it's not even recognizable anymore.
>have friends
>not playing vidya with them
It's literally cheating, you can have fun doing literally anything if you've got a good group of friends, and assuming you're not talking about "internet friends" which are a dime a dozen.
Nah, actual friends I've known for 15 years.
Then go buy it, user.
t. Not a blizzard shill
It's only 1 year old.
Go get it, it's pretty damn fun
It's realistically one of the only games I play nowadays besides morrowind or new Vegas
Olympics based event is coming along with the release of the main villain as a playable character and mention of customizable weapon skins. If you dig the gameplay, now's a good time when it comes to new goodies.
>The game is in it's prime right now.
It was in it's prime during the beta when the game wasn't "solved", yet. It's been a stale turd for about 6 months now and is showing no signs of revitalization.
It's easy to jump into. Plenty of mindless characters you can be decent with without trying until you decide you want more challenge.
>and everyone gets incredibly pissy if you don't play the way they expect you to, because you're practically throwing the game.
That's one of the only things holding me back. I guess it wouldn't be much of a problem if I muted them and just hoped in voice chat with people I actually want to talk to on Discord. Does it happen in non-competitive play?
Post more Widowmaker pls
Also its not too late. Okay to play if you pass the annoying ass voices you gotta deal with.
Comp is a joke, placement matches are a ruse, metas should be prohibited in a game with over 20 different characters to choose from.
>Oh user, why would I change the game knowing you're just going to buy loot boxes during Summer Games? Dive meta is interesting, after all.
It's not too late to get into overwatch op, you can troll the fuck out of people if that's your thing.
You don't have to worry too much about your skill level, the actual skill ceiling is very low, there is only one thing you need to remember and that is mobility is king. (Genji, tracer, winston as examples)
Have Sup Forums open when you start to search for a game, the matches go for just the right amount of time for most threads on Sup Forums to bump or change.
Honestly Sup Forums + overwatch is a solid combo to keep your nights entertained.
Not really. You'll have some pushy assholes once in a blue moon.
Personally I just mute voice and text chat. It's pointless. I don't care if Paco has a problem with me not choosing a healer because I was the last to pick.
Overwatch more like OVERHAUL AMIRITE? ?
>It's realistically one of the only games I play nowadays
same.
its really an easy game to get into and play a few quick matches.
Tried Overwatch every time it was free to play. Could never get into it at all. I just get bored after two matches. Heros seems generic, maps are bland, every game is a stomp (win or lose), same heros are picked almost every game.
I honestly don't know how it ever got so popular. Must be the Blizzard logo I guess.
>every game is a stomp
once you know how to play, they pit you against even skilled opponents and the game gets pretty intense with the over time and tug of war aspect in the last few seconds.'
rarely get steamroll maches these days.
If you end up buying it and maining Hanzo/genji I will find where you live and burn all your shonen jumps in a shallow pit in your backyard.
>no japanese female characters
>no american female characters
I mean, fucking really? Let me guess, the next character will be another brownie.
>maining Hanzo
why are people so bad with hanzo?
I've been playing since the beginning and have gotten pretty good with most of the characters, but I've JUST started using hanzo and he's a beast. I can get ult with him in about 30-60 seconds. its crazy how good he is on offense.
Im not a fan of defensive snipers.
its the widow mains I have a problem with. they get all of these kills but for some reason its never enough to sway the battle.
The newest competitive season killed a lot of motivation for players to play. Balance has been weird and the community is becoming a bit unpleasant.
It's an okay game, but hope you got some thick skin.
Avoid playing the console versions.
I main Hanzo with my okami skin and golden bow. I'm also 600sr
Fite me
Widows fail to be useful because it's one less player on the actual battlefield, on the payload, or contesting point. Her ultimate is not too helpful and her abilities don't do much to help teammates make a kill, or help widow get a kill. The gas bomb is too easily dodged to be effective
>Avoid playing the console versions
I've had about the same experience with pc or console actually.
Yeeeeeah I stopped playing as much as I used to due to every month a few characters get nerfed to oblivion or some unnecessary design change happens for literally no reason.
Bastion was fine where he was in season 3. And they just shat on his accuracy because, like, two pharah mains whined on the blizzard forums about having an actual opponent to fight fairly besides soldier 76
Ah, thank you for reminding me why I haven't touched a Blizzard game in ten years. I almost made a mistake and bought Overwatch.
Thats me buddy, hearing stupid niggas like you losing that game needed to place into diamond just get me hard as fuck.
>playing casual games competitively
Or just wanting to get some gold guns, or maybe playing more serious matches with less of a chance of having braindeads on your team (provided you aren't below at least platinum)
>more serious matches with less of a chance of having braindeads on your team
>OW ranked
I've played the game on both PC and PS4 and it a controller doesn't make it worse simply because the game is already trash.
Paladins lowkey won me over based on the roster variety and consistent character releases. Balance isn't nearly as refined but honestly I'm just playing for fun. Go ahead and slay me.
As you can see, the game has a lot of hipster haters of Sup Forums wich is sign of good, popular, healthy game. Go for it
It has like 3 good maps. Gameplay is repetitive, characters get boring, and all they care about is adding skins and not actual new content.
Oh yeah they don't know how to balance unless its nerfing they will nerf anything at this point for the gold players crying about it.
The game is made for consoles so go for it
>he still plays overwatch
Meme has already begun. Most people don't even play it anymore and have moved onto something more interesting. The slow pace in which they add mediocre content really hurts the game. Playing the same boring maps with the same boring characters all the damn time gets old really fast. I always forget the game even exists until I see someone talk about it here.
haha what a fag
Delusional
I would say wait for a sale so you have more people your own level to get matched up with
I heard people really chew you out if you pick the wrong class. Like in TF2 someone might complain about too many spies/snipers or whatever but in this one they really single you out.
Most popular fps on the market right now. If you think OW is going anywhere in the next 5 or more years, you're retarded.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Not that user by the way
TF2 usually being between 8v8 to 12v12 and having 9 archetypes means having a bad player or two doing whatever they feel like isn't a big deal.
In 6v6 Overwatch with 24 possible characters in only five or six archetypes, one bad player not fitting into the other teammates' synergies or contributing to breaking the opponents' synergies is very noticeable
