This isn't true.

The skill just isn't the same as other shooters. The main skill you need is teamwork and coordination. You can't just win it by yourself like you can in Quake or Counterstrike or even Team Fortress 2. Team play is mandatory unless you're playing against the absolutely bottom of the barrel garbage players.

Especially if you're going to just play casually . It's fun to jump in and just bang out a few rounds.
Comp is a whole other beast . Right now comp is kind of broken in its system. One tricks , leavers, and trolls make the experience just awful and blizzard reporting system does nothing anyway.

It's a game that sounds like it's extremely fresh and new and versatile, like all these abilities and diverse characters will really spice up the game play but, ironically, it's boring and there's very little you can really do outside of a certain characters parameters. It will never be the TF2 killer and has very little staying power. Too much specialization with too little generalization, so you're primarily stuck as [role].

Mercy is literally nothing but a heal slut, you can't go outside of that. At least as something like medic you have a decent health pool and DPS.

Which basically makes it checkers, hence why every game is close and just pisses you off.

Fuck any FPS that involves hardcounters. You can't even properly 1v1 each other in this game without that happening

No, it's a well-made game, it has the Blizzard seal of polish that doesn't really have an equal in the industry
It just really restricts you in what you can do, there's barely any fun maneuvers to do, and it's heavily reliant on teamwork

can it be fun? yeah. is it competitive? it is until blizzard stops burning their money. game is basically babby's first shooter. it's fucking garbage as an esport, but for fucking around it's okay. the "community" is full of retards who flip shit if you don't follow their meme meta because this quick play game will squander their chances of going pro or some shit. honestly baffled at how people take a game like this seriously when characters like winston, mei, and symmetra exist. again, not a bad game for fun or if you've never played shooters, but you should look elsewhere if you want competition or a skill ceiling that isn't a puddle.

Its problems are Blizzard still being incompetent at balancing things despite making video games for decades and the awful twitch/meta-slave community.

you should only play overwatch if
1. you are completely new to fps games
2. you have like 7000 hours in tf2 and burnt out on that game

idk where this OW takes no skill meme came from. There are both high skill characters genji/zarya/tracer and low skill characters winstons/mercy/lucio

Every character is just gimped enough that you can't actually do what you want to be able to do, except Ana*. I guess Tracer too but she can literally only do the one thing she's designed for. Everyone's movement except Lucio's is shitty and just gimped enough to not be fun. You'd think Pharah and Junkrat would have fun movement but their implementation of explosive jumping just sucks.

The maps are all linear a/d where the defenders have the advantage until someone fucks up and then attackers win for free.

The whole game is designed to prevent you from styling on people too hard and ruining someone else's fun but in doing that they just ruin everyone's fun.

it's _OK_, people only really play it because everyone else plays it, kinda like how Halo 3 was. The game falls the fuck apart at high level play because map design is terrible.

There's only one viable strategy so far in OW and it always dominated everything.

meta game =/= hero usage

For example in dota like said there's a meta game that kinda dictate what's the best strategy around (Playing defensive, offensive, etc.) and yet it's one of the game that see the most different hero usage in any moba.

The meta game is OW is not only stale (Dive comp has been around for how long now?) but the pick rates in competition and even the ranked more is terribly limited.

I found the game to be quite flat without any real depth, so there isnt much to learn in it. I found most of the characters pretty annoying even after a short amount of time.

Overwatch is to FPS as what WoW was to MMO's back in the day.

It's super casual and cartoonish style that kids love. They make a genre more casual and everyone loves it, PC gamers love casual games.

If you are playing it for competitive then yes, it is not good or balanced.

If you play it for brawl modes and QP then it is perfectly fine.

Overwatch is pretty fun, but Blizzard's priorities seem to be completely fucked. Some of the design choices are just weird.
You have characters like Lucio that can heal and speed boost, they can wall ride, they can boop people off the map, they can do decent damage, they can win teamfights by giving everyone on your team a temporary shield. You have someone like Ana who can do damage, heal from a distance, shut down enemy healing and burst them down with a grenade, they can put people to sleep for a long time and they can press Q and have a team member wipe the entire enemy team.
Then you have someone like McCree. Just a guy with a gun and a stun, and a terrible ultimate. Just a guy with a gun. No passive ability, no crazy wall riding, no healing. You just go around clicking pew pew pew, and if someone gets in your face you stun them for 0.5 sec.
